Dreaming in the Fade. (Broken Circle Quest)

Zevran’s dream: reinterpret or rewrite the fade dream altogether. Is he tempted to stay by what he desires or elaborate on his fears and past experiences as a Crow and how the Warden overcomes this.   ~ or ~    Zevran’s will is stronger in the Fade (or he just wakes up first) and he must rescue the Warden from their fears/desires.

Sorry about the time, I was sidetracked earlier.

Wow. How can I even choose? All four entries gave such amazing insight into their respective warden’s but also how Zevran would deal with being placed in that situation. Every end of the spectrum was met with Zevran’s own escape and the life’s, fears and dreams every warden carried into their new role. I really enjoyed each and every one, so thank you! What an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon.

Alessar’s dream surprised me a bit! The dream of an ordinary life without all of the death and suffering that had been endured is very potent especially with the inclusion of Addia. Zevran’s scrutiny of Alessar’s happy life and his strategy to break him out of it were great as were the circumstances of his own escape! Wonderful.

Wow, Moira’s fade dream was not at all what I expected and I really enjoyed it. I loved the tie in with Cullen (her lost/desired happy ending), how she deals with his reaction and the discussion with Zevran. I always imagined what that conversation would look like on the Wardens end, do they allow discussion or prefer privacy. Really well done.

What an amazing way to handle the Cousland  origin in the Fade, and even more Asleena’s wish to defend her parents and help them escape being what she wanted most. I am glad that Zevran was there to help dispatch the demons while she took care of the soldiers who were, in part responsible for her fate. A small victory on its own. Nicely done.

“If only he had a mirror to see what he looked like...some rats could be handsome, surely?”   ... Perfect Zevran! Curious if his handsome features translated and the awkward post –assassination phase helped to bring levity to something so heartbreaking.

What a fun read! Tea with Mouse and Valor, what a fantastic image of the harrowing!  The references to Zevran as a desire demon were fantastic. The harrowing as the fade dream itself was a brilliant turn as were Zevran’s reactions to those he fought. Very enjoyable.

I'm rather intrigued by these prompt contests and would love to give one a try. Are there any particular rules besides a time limit? (though there doesn't seem to be a time limit attached to the current prompt, heh)

Welcome aboard!

The only real rule I can think of is that if your fill is not safe for work, don't post it directly into the thread. Toss it up on a live journal or blog or something and provide a link. We're overall a filthy-minded bunch, but we also like keeping our day jobs.

Along with your fill and the time it took (when there is a time limit), provide the number of prompts you've made (zero, in your case) and if you aren't entering to compete. (Like I noted an old story of mine, above, as a non-entry, but I posted it 'cause it's on-topic.). The participant with the smallest number of prompts gets to pick next week's theme.

As a prompter, you don't have to do anything except supply a prompt to write to. If you are offering a prize, then you have to pick a winner. Prize or no, it's traditional for the prompter to offer some feedback on the submissions.

My entry; I decided to stick with the Vashtiverse after all.  Zevran never fell in love with Vashti, but I think he may have eventually fallen for someone else.

I’m really rather nervous about posting this, actually. Not only is it the first bit of fanfiction I’ve ever published on the internet, it’s the first bit of my writing generally that I’ve published on the internet, ever. Well, I suppose my roleplaying on some fantasy boards sort of counts as my writing, yet it doesn’t feel quite the same, somehow. How appropriate that my fic virginity is being taken by a Zevran-centric snippet

It was surprisingly awkward to write. It sort of came out in little disjointed fragments that I then had to sew together. Maybe it has something to do with fact I’ve eaten nothing but apples and cake today. But I’m more or less happy with it. I think. Well, my inner editor keeps hissing too wordy! Cut everything! But then that’s normally all my inner editor has to offer. Anyway, I hope it’s satisfactory!

Thanks for the prompt explanation, corker- and that was a lovely entry! Understated but effective. IMHO, Zevran seems to attract some of the best writers in the fandom, and I’m genuinely not just saying that.

I’m going to be away from now until next Sunday, so I suppose the results will be all ready and waiting when I get back.

Eh, DA2 had little to do with it, so far as I can tell. Our old thread was over 1k pages long and got shut down for being "too offtopic" even though discussion wheeled around Zev a lot. It just hasn't been the same since.

Aww, that's a shame! Was it pic spam? They seem to be quite touchy about excessive picture posting round here.

There was only pic spam one day of the week. The main problem seemed to be that though Zevran was on just about every page, there were other conversations that went on as well. I personally think what may have happened was the Alistair thread got shut down (which was bigger, picture-spammier, and far more OT) and when that happened the ZevThread was shut down to prevent (or perhaps in a response to) finger pointing.

Edit: Ooops, forgot to say something about Zevran.  It's been so long since I've played DAO though!

Hello Zev fans - I wasn't sure where else to ask this, so if I need to go back to the DA2 area for it, I will.

Has the Zev romance been patched so that he acknowledges it in DA2? IIRC it was bugged and he wasn't before. (I have ulterior motives - I want to generate an Amell DAO PT and plan to romance Zev this time - everyone else has romanced Alistair and I've heard so many good things about the Zev romance that I want to play it through anyway.)

Hi Ursula :3 Zev is definitely worth a playthrough at least once! Unfortunately, it seems like he's still not fixed in DA2; I keep tabs on this thread for news:
