LOL, Strangely, Shadow, my prize for you vaguely fits Sushifer's prompt for the week.

Aw, don't worry about it, everyone- things don't always work out, after all.

Sooo- do you guys want to try and knock something out for the prompt by the end of the weekend/start of the week, as a sort of informal extension, while Corker thinks of a topic for next week? There's absolutely no pressure to, of course, I suppose it'd just be nice to get something done if you did have some ideas for the topic.

Which famous author said something along the lines of the pram in the hallway is the worst enemy of the writer? It's been rather literally fulfilled, in this case!

Hullo Yuqi! Maybe you could try your hand at a prompt next round ;)

To be honest, my fic writing has fallen off sharply in the last few months as I work on revising my first finished novel.

I'd like to get paid for doing this, after all. LOL

Prompt: Assassin Training with Zevran.  "It will be fun.  I will make it fun!"

How, oh clever list members, does one make assassin training fun? Certainly the Crows' pedagogy doesn't seem like a barrel of laughs...

Train the Warden, train Leliana, train Sigrun if you like.  (Maker, yes, Zevran/Sigrun wisecracks, please!)  Swap pointers with Nathaniel Howe.  (*My* epilogue says Zevran stuck around to train Wardens, and I believe it!)  Ffff, try to train a non-rogue for the lolz. Successfully train a non-rogue for the crack!  Stories, art, photomanips, CGI, dioramas.

You know you want to make a diorama.  Do eet.

Time: Cutting out all that stuff and glueing can take a while.  Three hours.

Prize: I write you something, prose or poetry.

Deadline: Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011, by noon EDT.

Oh, Maker. I so do. I have...an idea...hmmmm.

(Hi everybody! I've been lurking here for a little while, a month or two or three, but never had the decency to post before. Heh.)

Oh gosh... I really do fancy making a diorama, now.

That's awesome, Sialater, good luck with that revison. Do you have a publisher, or is that the next step after finishing it?

Hullo bitenomnom! I hope to see you around :) I'd been lurking for a while before my recent unveiling too, heh. But it's much nicer to be out in the open, being sociable, even if lurking is easiest, I reckon :D

:) Thanks! Yes, I saw your art a page or two back and I think it's lovely. X3 Particularly that profile view of Zev...mmm.

Heh, yes, lurking is easier, but you're right -- and maybe once I make a few more posts here I'll pass that awkward point where I feel like an intruder. (Which, I know, is weird, but I'm also the same sort of person who stakes out threads for weeks and weeks before posting, so, there you go.)

@Bitenomnom - I lurked for almost the entire lifespan of the original Zev-thread before posting. I had to get used to the Zevrinjection Friday images, I think. :P Made it hard to visit the thread while at work, which are the Australian hours most people around here seem to be online.

@Shadow: Hahaha. I can see how that would be a problem. XD

So, I totally did a three-hour diorama just now. Buuuut I don't have the cable to upload the pictures to my computer, so that'll have to wait a day or two. (It's not very good, and I don't think it actually makes as much sense as I thought it did, but since I was silly enough to try it, may as well post it, right? >_>)

Hello! Lurked here for ages, and now my crazy mage forced me to post, because he wants to be trained as an assassin. :D
So can new people participate in the challenge? And what does it mean, 3 hours?

Yay, more de-lurking! Have I started a trend?

Hullo Klidi! Of course, anyone can participate. 3 hours is the time limit for the prompt. So, you have 3 hours max to create whatever it is you're entering, be it drawing, fic, or diorama.

I really wish I'd been around when Zevinterjection fridays had still been going. They looked... entertaining XD I'll just carry on making hideousbeautiful artistic Dragon Age blingees, when I need cheering up >.<

@Bitenomnom   Ahh, thankyou! I was particularly pleased with that profile myself. And I know exactly what you mean- I sometimes feel like the newbie intruder even when I've been active somewhere for months.

And just the fact you actually made an actual diorama, regardless of quality or sense, is awesome. I can't wait to see those pics.

Yaaaay new peoples! Making dioramas! :D

Our vaguely crazy, have-your-cake-and-eat-it-to weekly(ish) prompt/challenge thing goes like this:

The prompter (this week, me) can offer a prize or not.

The responders (y'all) can elect to compete or not.

If you want to compete for the prize, then you should create your entry within the time limit and before the deadline.

If you don't like competitions, want to go over the time limit, the deadline, or otherwise want to play but not worry about the details, that is ridiculously awesome. You should go right ahead and do that.

After the deadline, the prompter usually posts some reviews of all the entries. Because it's for fun, we generally accentuate the positive and are gentle with any constructive critiques offered.

If there were any entries for competition, the prompter selects the winner.

Then, the next prompter is chosen from among all the entries, including the non-competitive ones. We try to grab the person with the fewest number of prompts for the job to ensure that everyone's getting turns.

The list of past prompts is on page 1 of this thread!

And does the time my beta spends on it also count into 3 hours? English is only my third language and I always mess up bloody articles and prepositions... Posted Image

We have had non-native speakers enter before and IIRC, translation time (including proofing the translation) does *not* count to the time limit. :)

Hokay, so -- I didn't have an actual shoebox, and, er, obviously didn't quite finish in the the three hours I spent on it. And um...yeah. What I said before about it not making sense. But, since I did it...
Lesson #68: Sometimes, Your Hands Are Tied
(Shh. Don't laugh. I know it was a silly idea. =p)

Anyway I don't think I want to enter this for competition or anything, for obvious reasons. XD
Might take a stab at actually writing or drawing something, tho'. (Eep.)

That is EPIC. EPIC, I say! XD

(Not that I know anything about paper arts, but that actually looks wicked cool to me. The hair especially!)

Teehee, thank you!
I don't know anything about this kind of thing either, so I was kind of surprised myself. (And good to know that I'm not too unjustified in thinking the hair turned out pretty well. XD)

That really is awesome! Great idea, and well made, too.

I'm not definitely promising I'll be able to do a diorama myself, but I did doodle a paper-cut out style Zev and Leliana today (see below!) so... it may yet happen :D

@Sushifer: Aw, thanks! Teehee! Oh man, I hope you do end up being able to do one! I love their expressions. And, well, everything, honestly, but most especially their expressions.
