Westboro Baptist is a hate group based in Kansas. They hate homosexuals, yes, and picket everyone who doesn't agree with them, including other churches that are not as extreme as they are. Despite the name, they are not affiliated with the Baptist church.

This is the group that pickets funerals if the deceased was homosexual with hateful signs. That in fact is their claim to fame -- they became famous when they picketed the funeral of a gay man who was beaten to death in a hate crime with signs that said things like, "God Hates ****s." Unfortunately, the media attention this got them encouraged them to be even more hateful.

I really don't see anything wrong with counter-picketing, though. They CAN picket, they can get police protection to ensure their safety. But the people who disagree with them have just as much right to express their opinions as well.

And awesome prompt. I really REALLY like that :D

Edit: Wowza, ToP.  Do we still do ToP here?  I guess *I* do!  Have a dwarf kiss :D

 I'm not sure, but I think they'd be put into illegality due to discrimination of human rights here.
But I still think counter-picketing achieves nothing. Don't feed the troll - don't give them the media attention, don't attend their meetings, ignore them and convince as many other people as possible to ignore them, too.

That reminds me when that group showed up in Columbus Ohio for a military funeral (They do not only target gays, they will show up to profile military funerals as well) and the news station I watch refused to do a report on them. instead they covered a bake sale that was going on to counteract the protest. She donated all the benefits to local families who's military spouse/parent was serving.

Westboro Baptists also picket Military funerals, saying that each soldier's death is proof that God hates America.

You're welcome, Ejoslin. I had to share that, because it totally made my day yesterday to see that on my Tumblr dashboard.

That was tried.  At first.  Then they started picketing the funerals of US Servicemen and women.  MILITARY funerals.  Hell's Angels, a motorcycle gang, "fought" back first.  They started riding alongside the funeral processions of those service people and standing guard to prevent the disruption of grave-side services.  NOTHING Westboro has done has been illegal so, the law's hands are tied.

Counter protests have been the only effective measure to shut them up.  I for one, LOVED the Comic Con anti-Westboro protest last year.

They may be entitled to their opinions, but that doesn't mean we have to listen to them, or not shout them down.

I think Zev would approve.

That's exactly what the people in LBC did when WBC showed up there. They had some epic signs, like "I <3 vaginas-nom nom nom" and "God made Gays". They even had a guy dressed up like Jesus/God, who actively made out with another guy.

But back to my Zev and his beloved male mage - here is my entry for the prompt. It is loosely based on one of the chapters that will be in my main story, Failed to Fail.

Everything I Am

Eee, awesome! I have to say that after reading your last entry I was hoping to see more about Airam (and I will have to go read your main story now that I see the link in your signature! aha!). My impression is that I should include most of my comments and squeeing on the "final summary/judging" post after the deadline (somebody correct me if I'm wrong? please?), so I s'pose I'll hold off for now, but I wanted to let you know that I read it and very much enjoyed it. =D
(Or somebody please tell me if I'm not supposed to say anything at all 'til judging time? Or was I supposed to have held off on reading them all 'til the end? >_> Eep.)

Yes, I did enjoy that one too! (Left an actual comment on the work itself.) =D Thank you!

Oh, wow! I took at peek at her WIP shots on Deviantart and that looks like it took forever! Very nice.

On the art front (yeah, that’s right, I’m spamming my own stuff XD), I did draw something with Zev in it a while ago: This Way, Warden
There’s also this, another work including Zev and the same Warden, which is NSFW because it technically contains a woman’s nipples.

BLAME IT ON ALISTAIR *_*

This blog will explain my vendetta towards Alistair a little - well in part ... there is still the issue where he dumped me on my very first run through... incidentally Zevran abandoned me on that run thru too - but he had cause at least, coz I didnt even bother talking to him... as I was totally into Alistair - shame on me Posted Image   that learned me good n proper !

so I faced the Archdemon alone and threw myself upon the sword due to heartbreak - yea - so Alistair for me will always get the blunt end of my pen.... or maybe the sharp end is better *scratches head*

So many entries this week!  O.O

I wanted to share some awesome...  I didn't post the older of this one because it wasn't Zev-specific, but it was a prize for the ZevThread prompt, so that counts, right?

So, if you've read Shadow of Light Dragon's "The Hunt" and/or "The Kill," you've met Xai Merras.  He's a Magnificent Bastard, not very nice at all, and a lot of fun to read. So when I won a SoLD-sponsored prompt, I fangirled and asked for a bit of his backstory.  Shadow replied comprehensively, in five parts:  One, TwoThree, Four, Five.  If you're slowly pining while waiting for "The Kill" to return from hiatus, go and get a little hit of the good stuff.

Also Zev-free but no less awesome is the prize I got from Sushifer:

I described a scene I have planned for my follow-up to my Witch Hunt Gang story, and Sushifer nailed it!  27K words from now, I'll have the fic to go with that image - it's good motivation to get moving!  :D

Well, I think there are just the two so far (sorry, my conglomeration of responses there was probably a bit deceptive) -- still, I'm pretty excited. X3

Question - thought Id try it here first and see if I get a reply I can use...

What would Zevran use as a massage oil/balm? Have you seen it in game or do you think it can be created from stuffs around. He is a kinda a chemist of sorts so Im sure he could knock up something satisfactory... ahh let me re-phrase that (which brings up another interesting question why none of my Wardens are pregnant given the amount of time they spend in that tent - must be the taint... ahh that makes sense)

- concoct something - also knows of recipes for stamina in the sack which he offers quite freely to Alistair to help him in this area - I crack up severely at his suggestion its over b4 it gets started - ahh poor Alibear... no not really SUFFA !!!  Posted Image hahaha

I was thinking on this today and kept drawing blanks, so Id like to draw on any creative minds that could spare a moment to help me out on this.

/cheers

In my headcanon he uses olive oil with some essential oil added (mint, chamomile, rosemary,...) based on the effect he wants to achieve.

I've heard almond oil is good for massages.

Difficulty: availability. Almonds and olives probably wouldn't grow in chilly, damp Ferelden, neh? I suspect most of the oil in Ferelden is, um, fish oil. (Fish lamps make more sense then, amirite?)

So I'd turn down that massage until you've had time to go to Denerim. I bet Cesar carries olive oil. :)

Well, there is that Orlesian refugee there in Denerim who fell afoul of a Chevalier and fled to Denerim. I figure that's where my Warden, Moira Surana gets her perfume. ;)

Poor Zev. :)

There's probably lots of tallow as well, though, and lotions made from tallow. Not as nice as a bath with rose petals and olives, but it would do in a pinch.

tsk, tsk, such mistrust to Zevran's skills. Of course he will always have a little stock ready. You don't seriously think Zevran would allow his Warden to smell after the massage like a dead fish? ;)

...but he might be more than happy to let Alistair smell like dead fish. Or bacon. Especially if drunken Oghren could be *accidentally* corralled into the area.

oh maker no terrible slapstick bacon fat scenarios are brewing within my mind, someday stop me before it's too late
