Zev always looks so good in that black armor. XD

More face work. If I ignore the shoulder, it'll draw itself, right?

So much left to do... even the shading on the face isn't done. This is why art takes me so damn long. XD

The same problem i have. I read some nice fanfiction-scenes in the last days and wondered if i could do similar writing. I'm more the "dim-out"-type as you could see in my "first-time" prompt. The first night of Nemain with another woman, but you don't read anything about whats going on in the tent. And to be honest i regret that much. A similar problem - but enhaced twofold - i had in my roleplaying groups. To describe such thing not in writing but speaking, 4-6 people listening, some of then your friends, some of them pairs ... frightening.

@Corker
Thank you for the guide-link. I seems to be very interesting.

You're welcome!

For the record, ain't nothing wrong with fade to black, either.  Sometimes, that's the best technique for a certain spot in a certain story.

I so hear you on the tabletop RPG thing.  I had success taking more emotionally intimate moments to email, and then we'd share the resulting 'story.'  It wasn't even explicit stuff, just sort of gooshy.  It let people collect their thoughts and express them at a bit more distance from the character.  That's anathema to anyone who's aiming for immersion, but for someone more into the storytelling aspects of it, it works well.

@Corker  Yup, big thanks from me too for that link. (and for the one on writer's block, now I think about it) Hopefully it'll help me muster the courage to actually write some smut. Or at least procrastinate about it. Or something.

@Aroihkin  WIP's looking great! I find all the varying processes behind other artist's work rather fascinating. And that photo you posted- woah, they'd definitely make an excellent Zevran.

Also, I'm really really really sorry to everyone who's waiting, but I don't think I'm going to get the prompt results up until tomorrow morning. I got back way later than I anticipated and I'm just not going to have time to finish reviewing everything today. Apologies again- especially seeing as it's not the first time I've cause delays.

<3 Thanks guys. And I agree about SoLD. Moar art!

...Also on the other topic, even I fade-to-black (or gloss over a ton) quite often. The actual humping is boring to write.

This isn't a ton of an update, but I'm pondering if I should leave the lines in the braid to help define it. I think I might, since it's not like I go line-less elsewhere.

I don't think I've ever done a closeup portrait of Zev like this. It's no more detailed than I normally do, but because it's so zoomed in, it's obvious for once. XD

A ton, lol. Started at around 1AM on the 7th, finished at about 1AM on the 9th... and I think other than rambling in this thread it was my one hobby for the duration.

Art fugue FTW?

Also, done. I think. I hope. XD Click it for the DeviantArt link!

wow, the zevthread is alive and well. the art is pretty amazing as usual, guys. and the pic from aion does look a lot like zevran.

for fade to black, truth be told, that's my personal preference in a game because otherwise it tends to be too lulzy or just awkward. especially ss. and then there's the enya... gehh...

anyway, for whether the warden jumped zevran at the "come to bed" prompt? my warden would have. he was a mage, and his pleasures in life were probably few and far between. no time for much talk. it's unnecessary anyway, they weren't a couple. it was just a thing.

good to see this topic moving along again. i check bsn sometimes but not much these days since there's no toolset support and so... yeah. oh well. happy zevraning, folks.

@Aro - great picture, I love his hair.

@ Zax - great screenie, Zev always looks so hot on the dragon.

Does anyone else here replay the battles just so it would be Zev who deals the killing blow, and then take shots from all possible angles? :)

Not until now. But i was thinking about using this "more killung blows"-mod.
The Screenie is from a fight in the Kara companion mod. I'm trying it since a few days and really like it.

hahaha not quite - but I do bristle with pride when he does *grynz*

The odd "thats my man" escapes my lips LOL

I think I most likely will once I work out how to do this with fraps - luv pics/screenies

I luv most of all the fight animations for the duel wielding and those kill shots are sweet .

First Time

There is a very obvious way to interpret this, and myriad other less obvious, non-dirty minded ways. Feel free to go in whatever direction you want! Zevran’s- or a Zevran associate’s first time at what, exactly? Interpret as you will, and have fun!

Time Limit: 3 hours

Deadline: 8pm GMT Friday 7th October

Media: Anything and everything

Prize: A sketch of whatever you fancy

So, results! We had an epic turn-out this week, which was lovely to see. I really enjoyed reading all your excellent contributions, so thanks very much for participating, everyone :) It was strangely satisfying to spend my evening re-reading everything and doing some serious dithering over the winner.

Corker’s Incoming!

This was a great interpretation of the prompt- I giggled out loud when I realised just what was going on. Poor Zev- I don’t suppose he’s used to being so wrong and making such a fool of himself. The build-up and timing was perfect, too. You have knack for pacy dialogue, you know that? The rhythm of the interplay here made the whole thing flow nicely. Great idea, very well executed.

Kildi’s You Are Stuck With Me (non-entry)

How nice to see Zevran being patient and understanding! It’s probably quite good for him to be in a relationship that’s not all about the sex, for a change.  I got a great sense of Air and Zev’s relationship and all the various understandings and misconceptions running through it. The interplay and attempts at compassion between the two were effective, I thought. And those little hints of Airam’s past were suitably chilling, making the overall tone rather bittersweet, and I love me some bittersweet :D But, at least Zev’s helping him heal, I suppose.

Tryynity’s Worlds Collide

Hooray, someone else writing vaguely-disappointing first times! It’s much more realistic that way, IMO. The way you interweaved a duel POV throughout this was effective, I thought. It sort of made the reader the bridge between Zevran and Kyerra’s frustration with each other, if that makes sense. As a fellow owner of an initially-frosty Mahariel, I’m glad Kyerra  displayed some hostility towards Zevran- the Dalish are hardly very trusting- but was just as glad to see her soften. The building sexual tension  through the whole thing was very, uh, effective as well.

jenovan’s The Debut (non-entry)

It’s always excellent to see people expanding on things that only get a brief mention in-game, and this was a wonderful interpretation of Zevran’s first hit. The, ahem, assassination technique was as clever as it was vaguely disturbing- much like the story! And I when I say disturbing I mean it as a compliment: the sex was sort of offset by the menace of the whole scene- the atmosphere was palpable and only intensified by Zevran’s very real fear, and it all combined to be very gripping and left quite an impression.

Hilde’s The Merchant’s Daughter: Part 2 (non-entry)

Thank goodness Elam overcame his embarrassment in the end! (with a little help from a certain well meaning Orlesian, of course ;) ) I loved Leliana as Elam’s sassy bard friend, so to speak. Between Leli and Elam being such a cute pair, Zev and Elam being such a cute pair, and all the general awkwardness and adorableness, this was lovely and really rather heartwarming. It’s always satisfying to see the warden making the first move.

Zaxarus’s Unlikely Matchmaker

That second paragraph description of Nemain endeared me to her straight away and I liked her more the further into the story I got- tough girls are awesome! Especially tough girls with inner weaknesses and naiveties.  Zevran gently introducing her to girl/girl relations was rather sweet. Zev the matchmaker was also awesome- I love that he wanted the best for Nemain, even if it meant effectively giving her to someone else. Hopefully his chivalry will pay off later ;)

Bitenomnom’s The First Test

I am a sucker for anything on Zev’s formative years, especially things before or during his transition to hardened crow Zevran, because adult Zevran was definitely made and not born, as it were. And this was an excellent example of just that- poor frightened in-denial baby Zev broke my heart a little, I’ll admit. Your writing sustained the tension through this beautifully- the reveal at the end made me laugh, more in relief than anything. I loved all the double-meaning and implication behind your writing, which left a strong impression, despite the humorous end. And the well-handled Warden/Zevran banter was a nice bonus on top of all that.

And the winner is... Bitenomnom! I had so much love for all the other entries, seriously, but this one sucked me in and grabbed my heart and wouldn’t let go.

With zero prompts to his name so far, the next prompt goes to Zaxarus.

So, are we going to start using the DLC as a prize straight away? If so, Bitenomnom’s owed a code!

@Sushifer:
Dumb question perhaps :) but what do you mean with
"the next prompt goes to Zaxarus"? choose the next writing theme?

Yup, Zaxarus, it's your turn to set the next prompt :) The system of who gets to set the next prompt is designed to fairly distribute prompt-judging duties between active participants, I believe. How it works: out of all the people who enter a prompt, (including those who've submitted non-entries) whoever has set the least number of prompts gets to pick and judge the next one. So, as I believe you were the only one out of all the entrants to my prompt to have never set a prompt, the next one goes to you!

That's also why you'll see people posting Prompt: + a number along with their prompt entry and the time taken: it's the number of themes they've chosen so far, to make designation of the next one a bit easier.

Hope that helps!

Hooray! Aww, wow, I'm so flattered to have won amidst such stiff competition! Thank you! (And I know that there are a couple of stories that I haven't commented on yet...sorry!) How very exciting. X3 (Even more so if the DLC is included for this week, naturally...haha.)

And thank you so much for your kind comments, Sushifer. You won't believe how nervous I was about trying to write young Zev. It feels good knowing that it turned out okay. :3

Can't wait to see what prompt you come up with, Zaxarus!

And in other prompt-related news, I finally finished Klidi's prize from my first prompt, er, way too long ago (a month? something like that). To prove I'm not lying, here it is:
