@ tk - where did you research - Pre-Elvhenen destruction world of Arlathan and the Tevinter?

In particular the gods - magisters - archons.

Maybe I need to go and read the codex entries LOL ingame

I need to read up on some LORE - so far the DragonAge Wiki has been useful.

Lovers
Zevran is as much a Lover as he is a Fighter. Is your Warden victim to his wiles? Show us! Just friends? Maybe take a crack at a lover from the past. Rinna's fresh on our minds after all!

Fighting side by side, relaxing away from an adventure, or adventuring away from relaxation, just show us how they're together! This can be fluff, not really a kmeme prompt after all, but if it's 18+ in any way please do tag appropriately.  Please take this as literally or figuratively as you like, everyone's concept of love is very different, and i'm excited to see variety.

@ Tryynity - You mean for my Arlathan story?  It's a mixture of canon lore, speculation I've found on the BSN boards, and the ancient practice of 'making it up'.

Basically, I'm working on the assumption that the Dalish Elves of the Dragon Age know about as much 'fact' about events in the time of Arlathan as modern people actually know about, say, the period we call the Dark Ages (i.e., not much). In other words, there is some historical record, but it is mostly incomplete, and the elves have an even worse penalty to knowledge because so much was deliberately destroyed.

Having said all of that, some of what I'm writing goes against canon lore for deliberate contrast (i.e., Fen'Harel isn't the horrible bad guy like he's described in the Codex) and other parts line up with canon lore (the Maker banished the Old Gods).  Also, I've given some things different names because the Elves would call things differently than, say, the Tevinter (thus Old Gods = Ancient Ones).

Some of the main sites I go to:

Dragon Age Timeline (for basic timeline, I Google for more specific detail)
The DragonAge Wikia (very helpful, but sometimes wrong)
Threads I find here on BSN via search (like this one)
The BSN DragonAge Wiki (mainly just all the codex entries)
A whoooole lot of Google.

Some specific pages:
Tevinter
Old Gods
Archons

Probably TMI, but its amazing how much Bioware gave us, and soo much fun (sigh, for me anyway) to speculate on it.

I'm just having waaay too much fun writing the story though.  Especially my decision to explain exactly what the Darkspawn are and where they came from.

ok thank you

- i need to find out before I write the next instalment of Anieran - for this I want to try and stay within the LORE if I can - I have a feeling a part of DA3 is going to blow this character out of canon lore but no matter... really.

I really like writing stories within other ppls universes - saves me the hassle of coming up with one LOL
... but that said maybe it is easier to make up my own LORE in regard to this char... have to think upon it

I am really enjoying Rise of the Wolf

EDIT -  The BSN & Codex are the main interest to me - rather than fanbased knowledge - so thank you.

*sidles up casually next to Corker* -  Sooooo, say someone *cough* filled a kmeme prompt...
How the heck do you link to it directly so that you can share your perversions story with others?  That kmeme site is *confusing*!

Mmm, is it not standard on that side to create a link at every fill? I see a "Link" besides any fill-date, clicking on it you open a new side only with the story and in the browser title there is something as
http://dragonage-kin...677092#t2677092
which direct you to the story.

Yep, Zaxarus got it.

The thing with the kmeme is that it's not a BBS, it's a Livejournal.  Each of those threads, each with 30+ pages, are the same as a single typical "Took my cat to the vet. He hated it" LJ post.  All the prompts are like friends chiming in to pity your cat, and all the fills are comments to the comments.

I suppose this only helps if you ever spent time on LJ.  :)

Structure
The site has roughly three informal divisions (by informal, I mean they're not hardcoded in): administrative stuff, DAO stuff, and DA2 stuff.  Each division contains several threads.

In the administrative section, each thread has a different purpose: FAQ, updates, etc.

In the DAO and DA2 sections, each thread is just a list of prompts.  They cut them off at 30 pages worth, because LJ doesn't allow more than 10,000 comments to any single post (which is what each thread is).  They've been having problems recently with threads topping out *anyway,* so maybe they'll start ending threads at 25 pages.  We'll see.

Nesting
Comments nest under the thing they're posted to.  Usually, they're condensed to their titles by the time you get to a fill.  You can click on the title to just see the thread starting from that comment, or you can click the "Expand" link nearby to "unfold" the thread starting from that comment.

Many people nest the parts of their fill, e.g., Part 1 replies to the prompt, Part 2 replies to part 1, Part 3 replies t Part 2, etc.  This is fine if you've got a few parts (say, less than ten) but starts to get a little silly as things keep indenting.

Some people post each part of their fill directly as a reply to the prompt. This gives you max screen space, but now the parts of your fic aren't their own thread.  This probably doesn't matter so much; I've had some trouble conveniently expanding fills organized like this, but possibly because I had a dumb and didn't think to use the 'Expand' link on the prompt itself.

Personally, I reply to the prompt for Part 1, and then Parts 2-n are all replies to Part 1.  Someone can expand my whole fic by clicking on the "Expand" next to Part 1, and the indentation stays at a reasonable level.

Linking
Like Zaxarus said, there should be a "Link" link right in or around the post title bar.  Click to go to a page showing just the thread from that point on.

Parents
Sometimes, I'll get a link to a fill and want to know what the prompt for it was.  There should be a link to "Parent" at the bottom of the first post of the fill; clicking it should take you one level up the thread.  This is often, although not always, the prompt.

Oddly, prompts themselves do not have a "parent" link to take you conveniently to the kmeme thread they're in.  You can get to that thread by truncating the URL  (dragonage-kink.livejournal.com/1234.html is the thread) but that will be the first page of comments, not necessarily the one the prompt is on.  If anyone knows how to get from an individual kmeme prompt link to the page of the thread it's on, I'd love to know, myself.

Tracking
If you have a paid LJ account, you can click the thumb tack icon in a post's title bar to receive email notifications when comments are made.  You can use this to monitor if someone has a question (or a fill!) for something you prompted; to monitor other prompts you hope will get filled; and of course, to deliver every single ego-stroking bit of praise directly to your inbox.  Preciousss...

Ahem.

When I was getting started on the kmeme, I had only a free account, and just made a list of bookmarks to check periodically.  This worked fine, until the list got way, way too long.  YMMV.  I'm a convert to tracking now, but it's hardly a requirement.

Hopefully some of that is helpful!

The fill I put in has 5 parts, and I couldn't figure out a way to link to just the first part (or original prompt) and have all  5 parts still show up in the thread.  Maybe I just didn't wait long enough for it to propogate?  I'll look at it again...

@ Corker - Wow, thanks for all the info!  :D  That's helpful!

Thanks, both of you!  *plots her future perversions stories*

That sounds like lots of fun! X3 If such an event were to occur, I'd love to join in.
(Ehm, I'm figuring if it takes place within this...group...thingy...you've linked to, that additional persons would be let in? I don't know how groups work/what they are/what purpose or function they serve on BSN...?)

It can be a time thing (especially if you aren't logged in to an LJ account, or possibly it has to be a paid account; I can't remember, but there's definitely an issue with things not appearing promptly) or it could be a nesting thing. Did you post each part as a reply to the original prompt? If so, you'll want to share a link to the prompt to have all your replies appear under it.

We would have to start a new group, since membership on the old one is closed and ICevol hasn't been around recently.

But that's no problem!  I don't mind organizing it this year.

Is this too early to start, though?  We're not even done with November yet!

(FWIW, level of effort seemed to be about the same as the current weekly prompt, or 1-3 hours.  More if you like, but nobody should be expected to put 3+ hours into this, I think.)

I would be interested in participating again, as even though my gift-giver never delivered the person I gifted gave me something.

I don't think it's too early, simply because I know that time can disappear surprisingly quickly due to Thanksgiving (US cits, anyway) and finals/kids/pre-holiday preparation/etc can also steal time away in stealthy ninja style.

I'm in, Corker. Just let me know when you start the new group. And, considering how long it took to organize it last year, I don't think it's too early at all.

Yup, it was a time thing. (plus, I don't have an LJ account yet)  I checked again this morning, and the story is now showing correctly as 5 replies to the original prompt in order.  Again, thanks for all your help!  It was educational. :o

Looks like I should probably just go ahead and start an LJ account, thought, to make it easier for next time (bwahaha)

Maybe it would help if we listed what types of gifts we would feel comfortable providing? Art, writing, music, etc? Or would that just be part of joining the group?
