Last time I said, "Tell me what to write," on this thread, it was instant inspiration. I'm trying to get back into writing my fanfic but I'm not feelin' it, even though I've got the next several chapters outlined. I need something to work back up to it. Anything anybody wants to see?

Ha, I was going to suggest Z/T as well (but that is not much of a surprise).

Other than that -- the Warden's nightmares, and what Zevran does because of/about them.  Because you have at least 3 very interesting Wardens.

Is that for your post-Awakening story (  Zev has just killed a Crow master if im uptodate) ?

One thing id like to see in a Zev vs Crows story is Zevran helping a young recruit escape while hes having his revenge. And the young Crow would fall for our favorite assassin.

Everyone has their own view on how faithful Zevran will be to their Warden, especially when they are so far apart. I find it intriguing.

Well, Zevran is written to be faithful -- even sex with Isabela is at the Warden's invitation only. My own thought is is that Zevran would be faithful -- I could see him still using seduction to get close to a mark, but not having the recreational sex with everyone he was before in order to keep things more interesting. Sex ended up taking a whole new meaning to him by the end of Origins.

So I just found out that my entry for the hair prompt is in the 'Easy Lover' fanfiction.net C2 community...which is a community devoted to him as a LI. I know it's called 'You've Been Staring' and that could be misleading but...Zevran and that Warden are not even remotely in a relationship. Odds on just seeing the title and summary and adding it?

Oh i dont doubt my Zevran would be faithful 

But knowing how he can hit on ppl without even realizing it... i think it would make for funny stories how he would fend off unwanted attention ( that he seldom attracted for being flirty). Both my wardens (female mage and male CE) would definitly let him flirt around jsut for the fun of watching him talk himself out of the hot spot afterward.

@ ICevol ~ The Captive: Oh my... "black leather knee-high boots to the skintight red breeches" felt my cheeks burning with that (hot, sexy, etc) mental image.

@Minaleth ~ Pirate Zevran. Best looking pirate I have ever seen. The extra braids and long hair looking over his shoulder very suggestively as he does so well. Nice.

@Maradeux ~ 10 minutes? That is amazingly talented for 10 minutes! Great representation of Zevran, especially here "they board the ships, they rob the gold, they drink your wine, ravage the hold, they're all you've ever longed for"

@Sarah1281 ~ Great way to incorporate the history of Isabella and Zevran. The chosen method of assassination was new and very intersting as well. With every week and every prompt his story just gets fuller and fuller.

@TanithAeyrs ~ Adventurers Again: What a great ending for those two, the jasmine, blanket and the stars.Then the pink hues of dawn. So dreamy. Zevran and Aithne deserve it!

@WildAnnie ~ Isabella and the Earing: Loved Zevran saying he would never part with it! Makes it all the more special as a gift in the game! Well Done.

@Corker ~ Tail Wind Blowing: The title was perfect! You had an idea of what was coming right then but the actual chanty was even better...and it fits him so well! Thank you for doing the chanty. I had looked up a few pirate terms and chantys after picking the topic. This topped them all!

Special mention to Shadow of Light Dragon for "Dread Pirate Zevran"


Choosing the winner is an excruciatingly difficult task. I loved every one and had a hard time not commenting how much all week. But there must only be one right, or..no just one. The winner is...ICevol!

The description of Pirate Captain Zevran, his attire and the placement of his hat was so vivd. The idea that they meet regardless of the blight or individual circumstance and then the dream twist and playful/intimate tent banner was great! Congratulations.

Looool, that's hilarious.  I'd just roll with it.

As for the fic, Z/T it is, probably a little two shot or something.

@caridounette :  Yes, that's the last chapter.  I've got everything outlined, I just need to get back into it and into Zev's head.  No worries, Zev's going to have his own little cell of misfit and castoff Crows by the time we're done (I don't think that's much of a spoiler).

@Hilde - thank you for your kind words about my poem.

@post DA:O/Awakening-discussion - I understand why Zevran went back to Antiva. And I don't think he wanted to become the leader of the Crows, I think he saw no other expedient.

One reason I see is a kind of hate-love for his homeland Antiva. It is what it is - and it is what it is because of the Crows. The second: The Crows would have never left him alone in his whole life, and probably his Warden neither. So confrontation and takeover would be the only solution to assure a save life for his Warden and himself.

It's not really a "happy ending" - these things don't exist in Dragon Age - and that's something I like very much about this game - everything has its "catch" and every decision leaves a sour taste. At least this position would give him the opportunity to change some things...

Wow... thanks, Hilde! I honestly didn't think I had a chance to win, given that I wrote more backstory than Pirate!Zev himself.  Once I have a chance, I need to get that expanded to incorporate the whole idea so I don't feel guilty about the win, but I'm honored you liked it.

I really need to get caught up on the thread and read everyone else's responses to the challenge.  Work appears to be calming down a little (*knock on wood*), so hopefully I'll have time today or tomorrow.

I'll think up a new prompt and try to get it posted during my lunch hour (I'm on Eastern time US) so barring any catastrophes, there should be a new challenge available in 3-4 hours or so.

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations, too.  Y'all are inspiring to be around! *hugs*

I have a feeling that we'll get some resolution here.  My biggest fear was that they'd kill off the warden for an explanation, but I actually don't think they'll do that (I don't think they want to ****** off most of their DA:O audience).  What I've read from BW says that the ending will put big smiles of MorriFans faces, which means at least they weren't going for heartbreak nor even more questions.

I'm hoping they wrap up the other romances as well, in a positive way.  THAT I doubt, but I'm still hoping for that last cutscene, even with no voice, of the warden and Alistair/Zevran/Leliana kissing and walking away from the camera, into the sunset!  Hahahaha, SUCH wishful thinking.  Won't happen, but I'll get the DLC anyway

That would be too easy, and too satisfying.  I don't think they care about the DA:O fanbase; if they haven't won you over to DA2 yet, I think they don't want you.  They certainly seem to behave like that.

I'm gong to assume that this DLC is crap until I have it spoiled for me, at which point I'll know it's crap (or be pleasantly surprised).  None of it has really lived up to my expectations (though I haven't played Lel's song yet), and I'm not blowing money on the promise of Morrigan unless they deliver.  They deliver me a cutscene like Ejo proposes, then my money is guaranteed, but I'm pretty sure the thing is already done and they didn't care enough to think to add such a thing.

In short: unless their supposed resolution is awesome, my statement about the Warden's fate stands.  Slips in the bathtub, terrible, tragic death, Zev runs off with Isabella.

"I often find myself the instrument of fate, ending these lives for one necessity or another. I console myself with the notion that most of them had it coming."

 
Anything goes here – one of Zevran’s adventures from before he met the Warden (the Rivani Merchant Prince, the mage in the carriage, Princess Farina, etc.), something from during Origins (actual plot event or an original occurrence), or any time after the death of the Archdemon. So long as it involves Zevran and a target’s death (actual event or his perception of it, or his role as an assassin in general), it’s all good – dramatic or humorous responses are equally welcome.
 
 
Time: 1 hour
 
Formats: All formats of response are encouraged -- drawing, story, image manip, poem, comic, filk, etc.

Deadline: Thursday, September 9th @ 9:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (GMT - 4). Winner to be announced the morning of Friday, September 10th (~ 9:00 AM EDT).

 
Prize: Zevran story of your choice. You can either provide me a prompt or I’ll make something up. Zev with any of the NPCs from Origins is fair game.  If you want the story to include one of your own Wardens, I’ll need some personality/characterization info and/or links to stories you’ve written about him/her to get into voice (I’m new around here and haven’t read much DAO fanfic outside of what’s been posted in this thread). I’m comfortable writing Gen, Slash and Het, if that’s a concern

@Sarah1281 - Ooohhh... I really enjoyed your take on the Zev/Isabella backstory.  Great detailing and characterization -- Love!

@TanithAeyrs - Awww! So sweet and romantic.  It's the kind of happy ending all our Warden's deserve to have with their LI. This made me smile, big time - thanks for sharing!

Also - many thanks to Sarah1281, Minaleth, TanithAeyrs, maradeux, Corker, wildannie, Hilde (and anyone else I might have missed in my reading of the past posts) for "reading and feeding" my Pirate!Zev ficlet.  While I was working on it last weekend, I looked at the timer and realized I wouldn’t have time to get to the juicy bits, so I typed up the ending as quick as I could.  That said, I plan to expand the Pirate!Zev story when time permits.  The naughty part is still in my head and waiting for a chance to come out in typed form LOL

@ejoslin - Let me just echo what others have already said.  Without your hard work, the rest of us Zevran fans would have been deprived of some of the best parts of the game.  Thanks to your bug fixes (and Charsen's wonderful mods as well), we all get to enjoy our Zevran as he was intended...

Edit: And I do agree about the changing endings.  But they do keep changing. Heh, I may delete all DLC and make new ending slides!  Lore, schmore...

As someone who has bypassed the purchase of Awakenings and all DLC after RtO, I would love you forever and send sweet treats if you did this.  New ending slides would be AWESOME if done by you -- I am sure of it *nods*

Hmmm, after reading a few things, I'm suddenly not so optimistic (hahahaha) about the ending of DAO and the Witch Hunt dlc. I'll import a Dalish (MOAR) but... hmmmm. It looks like it's just going to tie up loose ends with Morrigan and not with any of the others. I was hoping for a satisfying ending, but, I suppose most of that will be in my head. I hope my warden's disappearance will fit in with the Awakening epilogue at the very least. *sigh* I wonder if DA2 would possibly be able to draw me in like this, actually giving a damn about the personal aspects of the ending. I hope so!

Honestly, that is what I'm hoping for.  It would be easy, inexpensive, and make many people happy.  So my guess is, it won't be done!
