Sometimes there's a flurry of "Ooo cool prompt maybe I'll do something!" posts but you don't have to announce your intentions to participate or not.
Feel free to start general discussion topics, too. I think one of the reasons it's a bit quiet in here is that the Old Guard has hashed out our questions and concerns regarding Zevran's character with each other to our satisfaction. That doesn't mean we won't happily share our opinions with newer folks who are still working out what they think the earring means, or the nature of Zevran's relationships with Taliesen and Rinna, or what have you.

Prompt:
No More Mister Nice Guy!
There are times when sometimes it's so nice to be not nice. We all love our assassin so much, sometimes we forget where he came from, what he's done and what he's capable of.
Entries:
Painkiller - BloodsongVengeance - This story treads the line between tough love and insane love. Zevran's actions and reactions are realistic but difficult to experience as a reader. The story also ties in deftly with his past as well as his present as portrayed in the story. A very powerful, moving story that deals with several different themes of love, obligation, and fear.
Not-so-fluffy - Tryynity - Zevran's reaction to the torture of his Warden are certainly dark, showing the part of his personality that wishes to answer pain with pain, a natural response for an assassin who does look to justice as a first reaction. Also, I appreciate the concept of Zevran's ruthless nature being used to protect - or avenge - the ones he loves.
Payback - Corker - Although Zevran himself is not completely ruthless (outside his wonderful wineglass), the story still displays the part of Zevran that is cold and caluclating, using his ability to weigh decisions based purely on the outcome and discounting the aspect of justice in favor of pragmatism. Also, a story of Zevran with the DA2 crowd and evil Hawke is always appreciated. (Take *that*, you meanie ol' Champion of Kirkwall!)
Choices - Klidi - Zevran's decision to put all his Crow memories and nightmares to rest made for an excellent story. I continue to love and appreciate the relationship between Zevran and Airam, with Airam again proving his dedication to Zevran, regardless of any other factor. Maybe not chock-full of Fluffernutter, but a good character depiction of the characters, nonetheless.
Non-Entry:
Cold Dining - tklivory - Ummm... no fluffy bunnies here. This is the edited version of a very dark story... Read as you will, but be warned: Zevran does not take hostages in this story.
AND NOW ZE GRAND POO-BAH WILL CHOOSE......
This was a deliberately dark week, because I love exploring all aspects of a character, including the Dark Side, and thus love seeing other writers also venture into this area. I feel that sometimes, for all our bittersweet endings, the Darkness in Dragon Age comes from situational and plot-introduced lack of happy choices, and not out of the characters themselves. So thank you all, for exploring the darkness of the characters as well!
The entries this week certainly worked with Zevran's not-nice sides, whether for vengeance, putting old ghosts to rest, or a misguided attempt to do the 'right' thing after it is almost too late. However, I felt the entry that best exemplified ruthlessness and taking Zevran into a truly dark place was BloodsongVengeance's entry Painkiller. Taking the step beyond 'Zevran as ruthless assassin' to 'Zevran willing to do *anything* to fix his lover, including hurting him' is moving that extra step so few writers (even us sadistic onces) allow themselves to take. Bravo!
EDIT: Also, no macaroni art? *sniff*
Now, Bloodsong, I believe you are up for the next prompt?

i wouldnt say you are being 'cute', just that your excerpts are part of a larger story where i don't have the whole picture. if you're using lore from the game like various epilogues and character histories, i'm not as familiar with them as... uh, everybody else whose played the game over 20 times. (i'm still on 2. yeah, im slow. i'm sorry, the game going on in my head is more fun than the computer one most of the time. :/ )

oh, just for everybody who missed it, i wanted to point out that i have challenged klidi to a writing race. to see which story -- 'failed to fail' or 'bannon & zevran' -- gets to the part where the main character hooks up with zevran first. AND, klidi accepted!
klidi has a head start, having started at the ambush and getting to orzammar already, but it takes longer for airam and zevran to hook up, so that's okay. my chapters are all longer, and we're only in lothering so... im doomed. :X except... klidi is slow! ;P so i might have a fighting chance.
the saw cross-crossover hasn't gone totally into oblivion. however, i haven't had time to work on it :/ this may be good or bad news, depending on how you look at it. i'm sure everyone's characters are relieved.

It's more of a custom than a rule.
If your post ends up at the top of a new page, you slap a picture of Zevran on that puppy. If it is not *your* picture of Zevran, you better link that sucker back to the artist's page and put their name somewhere nearby it, because that's just good manners.

Prompt: Horsing Around
Short Version: something with Zevran and a horse or horses.
Long Version: Zevran seems to have a strange affinity for horses. I let him play my Horse Racing Fantasy game as a jockey, he's really good. Scarily good. (See also page 4 of Shadow of Light Dragon's "The Hunt" :X )
Do city elves know how to ride horses? Does an Antivan Crow? Does Zevran? Where would he pick up something like that? Does Zevran have a horse-centric story just chock full of Zevranisms? (I'm almost afraid to suggest that one!) Does he get along as well with horses as he seems to with dogs? Does he get stepped on? Does he do "coach-jackings"?? Does he not have a horse, just a lot of leather straps and bridles and... let's not go there! :X (Well, I mean... unless you want to.)
Alternate: Zevran can just be horsing around, as in messing or playing around.
Time: 3 hours, up to 5 hours if you want to make a picture.
Medium: Any
Deadline: Friday, February 10, 5pm GMT (or when i get around to it)

And I meant behave, like no tormenting of innocents.

Ah no...Klidi didn't actually force me to write Blood Song. She just wrote an amazing piece about the madness of Howe, and it gave me the inspiration to try to explore the dark side of humanity.
Although...I have heard some of the things she says about Zev...so maybe she shouldn't be on that innocents list. I'm not sure if innocent people have some of the naughty thoughts she has

okay, the office closed, so i could check out 'on a boat.' well... at least it wasn't the usual rap topics. i have to say, that when i read the lyrics, i had a very strong tune in my head, but it was not rap. in fact, it sounded more like 'bad horse' from dr horrible's sing-a-long blog. (by the way, freaky as that movie is, i actually found it kind of meaningful. i recommend it.)
