ps:  i was reading back through some of the prompts... didnt shadow have something -- an alterna-prompt i think -- about rinna?  like an alternate universe where rinna didn't get killed and how that made zevran's whole storyline and motivations different.  actually, maybe we can try that one again sometime?  especially if people didn't have time to try it the first go-round?

It wasn't really about Rinna. It was about Zevran taking his Warden contract seriously (instead of an attempt at suicide-by-Warden); the rationale for the change from canon was that Rinna hadn't been killed.

That was a fun one.  But uh... yeah, I guess I was the only one to write to that one.  So there's a good potential for re-use.

Edit: Top of page!  Have Zevran Bond, by Shadow of Light Dragon:

@Bloodsong - omg that story was fantastic! I loved the tension between Zev and Rinna, and the ending made me kind of sad. Love it!

@Everyone else - Sorry I've been kind of MIA; it's been a hectic week but things should calm down by the weekend

@corker
   oh, is that what it was, and not with/about rinna?  i woulda put rinna in it.  lol!
   so lets maybe keep that in the hopper.  not to do next, since we just did a rinna one.  maybe see what everyone else thinks about giving that one a shot again.

thanks, heishi.  don't worry about that ending, though.  things will work out.  ;)  (and then, of course, go horribly horribly wrong....)

i've got poser zevran's hair halfway done, and this is the outfit i bought for him.  i still need to finish the hair and tweak his body to look less human and more elfin.  i think his face looks overly broad in this pose, maybe its his neck... well, i dunno, let me know what y'all think.

I'm fairly rubbish at judging anatomy and such, but tabbing between a pic of Zev from the game and this... I think his hairline is off? Could be the angle, but this guy looks almost like his hair is starting to recede, giving him a sort of widow's peak effect. The Zevran pic I'm looking at doesn't.

EDIT: Also 24.5 hours til the prompt closes!

Oh yeah...I remember that prompt. IIRC there was some interest in it when it was posted, but the forum was in a creative slump. No reason we can't revisit it or any of the others if people want to. :)

Prompt: Rinna - Not Dying

Can you believe it?  The very first prompt was "what does Rinna look like?" but other than that, we've had nothing on the lady.

Tell, show, or otherwise display something about Rinna and/or Zevran and/or Taliesen - something besides her ignomious death.  A pulse-pounding job, a raucous night in a tavern, a tender moment stolen on the shore... show me (with words, music, images, as you like) a strong character I can see Zev falling for.

The drumroll, please...

Tellervo wrote...

Uh, so, I wrote a thing.  Because Rinna.  I like her.  And if she hadn't been killed, I doubt the Crows would have suffered both herself and Zevran to live.

Absence

We have to drag you away from your LARP more often.  :happy:  You do really wonderful work in emotional miniatures like these, little lyrical word-paintings.  This one's a sad and hollow song, and it's haunting.  I wonder about the circumstances of Zevran's death, and if it paralleled canon or happened some other way.  And there's a poignancy to this being the "other" response - Rinna becomes the cold killing machine that Zevran doesn't, when he goes looking for death in Ferelden.

I am (reluctantly) assuming this is a non-entry, since you didn't include the time information and all that kerfluffle.

WARNING: mature content.

   okay, i put this on my forum instead of here on bioware, because i think it might be too much for the bioware level of content.  keep in mind that NONE of the bad stuff is explicitly described, but it is in there.  so this is not a fluffy zevran/rinna thing.  this is zevran is an evil 17-18-year-old heartless assassin thing.  there is murder, blood, mutilation, and sex.  sometimes at the same time.

To be honest: if I were not the prompt sponsor, I would have given this a pass based on your warnings.  The subject matter is not my cup of tea.

But I am the prompt sponsor, so I did read it, and it was bravely done.  It's not easy, I think, to show characters we like and sympathize with (like Zevran) doing awful things.  And I was definitely interested in your take on the 'early dynamic' going on there, with none of the three of them being well-acquainted or settled into established roles.  It was definitely fun to see three wary young Crows trying to figure out how best to get a leg up and establish their dominance over the other two.

The breakfast scene killed me.  It was almost a goofy high school/college cafeteria comedy scene, right up until it turns into a(n implied) bloody knife fight.  Over a fork.  Seems so terribly appropriate to the Crows, too.

The escalating thefts were all very fun, and the thematic turn-around at the end, from this stolen and lost to something found (and also something lost...), was lovely.

And the winner is...

...:unsure:  I don't know!  I'm never sure how to judge when a piece isn't my personal thing but is nevertheless well-done...

:wizard:

Prizes for everyone!  Even for Tellervo's non-entry, if you want one, because I really did love your piece.  You can point me at an old, unfilled kmeme prompt if there's nothing else you want. :devil:  PM me with requests, y'all.  I'm willing to give most things a shake.

Prompts counts have been reset to zero since there was such a large difference between our newer folks and our older folks.  Well, 'cept for me, now I have one.

Since I think it's been the longest between prompts for Tellervo, that's who I nominate for next prompter.  Give a holler if life's too busy for you to play, Tell... I think it's been a while for SoLD, too, so I'll put her on deck if you bow out.

Thanks to all who participated and read the entries this week!

Haha, I forgot I was supposed to put up fill info. Took about 20 minutes total, no revisions. But it was more or less a non-entry, as I don't generally claim my prizes as I can never think of anything I want.

I will think about a prompt and hopefully have something original up.

I came, I read, I left

.... not necessarily in that order

All gr8 entries - I can see why Corker had so much trouble determining a winner - Im still skyrimming - so much fun being Zev... a really bad Zev - Zev/I killed a random courier last night just coz he had no mail for me/Zev

@bloodsong - I have to be honest I dont like that Zev's pic greatly - I warned you I am very fussy with his likenessesses in digital art. Art/drawing is a little different Ive seen some Zev pics that look nothing like him but still carry his characteristics.

His face seems wide I think it is his brows are too cro-magnon - think finer. The body seems fine (the big test is naked though Posted Image) and his hair looks great (but yes smooth lower the left and right hairline a smidge)

Oh, and the hooker boots have to go! Posted Image(or is it the dress armour... not sure...to be safe take it all off)

But keep up the good work, thats the best so far I think - I know its hard to get spot on - dont give up.  YOU CAN DO IT ! Posted Image

@Bloodsong: Ouch. I agree with Corker, it's not easy to deal with characters whom you like doing horrible things--and Zevran did a lot of that in his Crow days. Hard to draw a line between callous and malicious sometimes, but 'evil' fits in both categories. :/ Nice job.

@Tell: Always good to see you dropping us a bit of writing. ;) Sooo...when are we seeing AU-Rinna going to Ferelden to assassinate the Wardens? ;)

@Corker: Heh, thanks :) I was a little worried that it would come over a bit too high school, but eh. It was fun. ;D

@ Zax: Read, loved and will review tomorrow or on Friday. :D  I'm first week in job after more than five weeks at home so I have very little time for anything besides work now, and I don't like writing oneliners. :D

And! May I brag and squee and make my happy dance?

I had quite a bad time lately, with my back injured, and Cheeky Monkeys listened to all my rants patiently (you should really check CMDA, if you haven't yet). And one of them anonymously commissioned Dasque to make a picture of Zev and Air for me. How awesome is that???

I don't know why but the picture here doesn't look that good - click on it to go to Dasque's devArt page to see it in all its glory. :D

Ah, that also reminds me!

Behold the ridiculously awesome prize art it is my absolute pleasure to have received from Danijou!

Waaait, wait, wait.  I guess that's a little, um, unexpected to just plop down like that.  Here, all properly screened and stuff: Warning for character death.

She promised me a 'happy ending' for my Zevromancing, US!Brosca. :wub:

After the sniffle-inducing topic of Rinna, let's have something a little silly.  Zevran recites some horribad sexy poetry for the Warden, let's see Wardens write him some bad poetry back.

The Symphony I See in Thee, on second thought....  Not to be outdone, a romanced or friendly Warden writes Zevran some poetry back, just as bad (or even worse!).  You can do the poem itself, the process of the Warden writing the poem, or trying it out on other hapless team mates--or even the recital.  Since this is the Zevthread, make it clear that the poem is about Zevran or is being written for Zevran.

Time Limit: I have a very skewed sense of how long these things should take, so we'll play it safe and say three hours total work time (does not include brainstorming).

Medium: Any.

Due: Entries must be done and posted/submitted by 3 PM eastern Thursday, March 8, and the winner will be announed on Friday, March 9.

Ladies (and Erian)! Who's the poet here?

Lorelai Brosca: ffffff roses are red, rocks are hard, ask Leliana, she's the bard

Yeah, didn't think so.

Odessa Amell: *eyebrow*

Next!

Adriana Cousland: My poetry isn't bad. I had tutors, you know.

True enough.

Erian Surana: I, ah... poetry? For Zevran? No, I couldn't possibly. It would be ridiculous.

And you'd never think of doing it in a million years.

Kallian Tabris: Ooo! Ooo! There once was an Antivan elf, Made me want to touch my--

I'll think about it Kalli, but um... Spectacles. Spectacles!

Spectacles Surana: Present.

Given rules governing the stress patterns and number of syllables per line, do you think you could create an interesting and sincere arrangement of words describing the emotions engendered in you by one (1) elven assassin?

Spectacles: That sounds like an amusing diversion!

Excellent...

Duration: nearly 2 hours
Prompts: 0 as mostly all :)

Bury or Burn

It takes place immediately after the events of chapter 10 where Zevran tells Nemain that they are only friends.
Btw: i need some help with the format. I wanted to have the poem in 4-line passages but was unable to transfer the format from word.

heyas; been busy, missed some stuff; let me catch up.

@corker:
(and everyone) omg, dont EVER think you need to read something you think you won't like. not from me, anyway. i don't mind if you give it a pass, even if it is for a prompt you made. i can be rather sadistic. oh... people noticed. :X

thank you for braving it anyway, and your kind review.

@tellervo; re: rinna entry:
i can't remember if i said this before, or only thought about saying it. so... it was a very strong passage, a painting in words. very good all around.

@ shadow:
i loved the food fight! or, well, not quite a food fight. they are, after all, junior crows. :X did i mention i liked the diamond heist best? oh, i did! over on your blog post. see, i'm not TOTALLY senile!
thanks for the comment. and apologies again.

@tryyn:
glad to see you still around. yes, you were gone a while! i will hammer on zevran's head. i fixed his hair, its much better now. if i can get the front to lay right.

@zaxarus:
ffnet is fascistly against anyone using any kind of formatting. you may use the center tag (or the center button on the preview/edit thing they have) to center the poem, if you like. if you want to skip lines, you *have to* put something on the line. it can be one dot. or a tilde if that looks more flowerly and poem-y to you. actually, maybe you can get it to use right-justified formatting on one dot, that would be way over on the other side of the page, and look like a true blank line more than a division.
good luck.

@klidi:
::waves:: i haven't started on the pic with air i wanted to do. don't hold your breath. i have a lot on my plate. plates. gah. at least my creativity has been up. does wonders for my serotonin levels.

Why Bloodsong Doesn't Have a Prompt Entry for This Round
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bloodsong: Bannon, come up with a poem for Zevran.
Bannon: Me? I don't do poetry!
Zevran: But you can sing!
Bannon: Nobody needs to know that....
Bloodsong: You're my only character that even remotely likes Zevran. Come on, you can't possibly be any worse than Corker's crew!
Bannon: Oh, a challenge. ::thinks::

Zevran, Zevran...

He's mah man...

um...

If he can't do me,
No one can.

Zevran: I like it!
Bloodsong: ::FACEPAW!::
Bannon: What do you want? I told you, I don't know any poetry! I know... nursery rhymes. What do you want?

Hickory Dickory Dock,
Zevran's got a b--

Bloodsong: NO! NO NO NO! Forget it!
Zevran: ::laughing his head off::
Bannon: Thief escapes a fate worse than death again!
