I wouldn't worry about the DA2 ending too much. I mean, it says your Warden disappears even if she died.

pfftehehehe...ok, I must share this.

My short ficlet 'Place Your Bets' (First Kiss prompt) was recently translated into Chinese(!), and for some reason I thought it was a good idea to try using an online translator to put it back into English to see what it'd look like.

I laughed. I had tears in my eyes.

So I'm posting it here.

"I bet five coins pig rabbit lovers," said Oghren.

"Hmmm, I bet ten, Mabari," Alistair said.

"Oh, very brave ah, the little guy ruined gun? Well, Well, I out of 15 pieces of silver you have to say?"

"I would say 'Hello my shiny little one a good friend Alistair win, you have to buy him a hill heap so much cheese!'"

Uh, is not your lucky day, the temple boys let he bloody stupid dog than a Zevran assassin master door are not, right? Ah? Wizard? "

"If my fans obsessed with who do not mind," Zevran replied quietly, his face from the nose of Ferrix a handspan nearly gold eye blink to stare at the Mabari the brown eyes, "this test of requires attention, please, be quiet. "

The elves and the dog, as the scene suddenly showing almost devout silence to crow knees, and Mabari squatting, they look straight at each other, no one blink of an eye.

The two fighters suddenly a shadow enveloped sudden.

"Dare to ask What is the focus of this ceremony?" Of Sten ask Road.

Ceremony? His mother is a bet, the Quine people Oghren replied. "Let the wizard is showing his cat reflexes."

Sten impassively looking down. After a few seconds against the rigid situation, he asked: "So now from the 'demonstrators'?"

", Etc. Some of them move to be considered the beginning," Alistair explaining. "Zevran He is expected to faster than Ferrix action. My opinion, no chance of winning. Ferrix state the worst of times stronger than he, right man?"

Mabari the eyes unwavering, but he shook his short tail.

"That is not right!" Zevran calm protest. "If I vote for something poisonous, he ran far, is not it? Haha, I joke! Do not bark at me!"

"Total ~ ~ ~ s ~ ~ ~" Alistair said, "It's very simple, really. When Ferrix trying to take a tongue to wash your face to the Zev, Zevran only thing to do is quickly see and then get out of the way of the tongue origin. "

"Boring." Sten looked Warhound coldly. "You simply press down on him, the victory belongs to you."

"No, do so on non-compliance," Oghren said. Pounce and then send a big wet kiss of war dogs, in addition count foul. "

Not surely? "

"Yes! Damn dogs have no chance. Wizard can get out of the way, no problem."

"Your trust I rejoice, Mr. Zevran hiss met.

"This is what I here," Oghren under irrigation, a beer called loud belch, "Please call me for Zevran team cheerleader."

"You set the scene really scary ..."

"Interesting," Sten said. "But not quite proper. Wizard and Mabari in the battlefield, like I have seen. Obviously, Warhound win ...... demonstration."

"Ha!" Alistair towards Oghren punched. "Did not see? Sten and I am a country! On Ferrix!

"Oh this? Well ... bet bet you say! 15 pieces of silver, Quinn Come on, or say you are a coward?"

"...... Not risk a waste of coins can be considered cowardly?"

"But if the - Ferrix won, you will be able to recover exponentially," Alistair said cheerfully. "Otherwise, you can bet ...... uh ... a few cookies? Or to Zhang portraits?"

"Antiva has the artists are adept at using pastels to create exciting," Zevran recommended. "I used to know a great oil painter! Guy Seniors beautiful, he out of a gold pounds I took all my crimson chaise chair leaning against Zhang for his painting. If you want to add one for their own collections Vice true masterpiece, I am willing to surrender it to you Oh, I did not even willing to sign a name! "

Fifteen silver coins bet Mabari win, "Sten said tablet.

"Ah, confident I would like to hear this."

Moment dramatic in the eye, there was a burst of perceived imperfections footsteps, and then ringing denunciations of the gray robe followed by Alistair Rye.

"Dare to ask here what Thedas bear things? You these guys the rotation!"

The face of Asleena blame, Oghren, Alistair and Ferrix quickly, guiltily stood up at that moment - say, just as when Mabari turn on the head, Zevran pounce suddenly approached. His arms clasped the neck of the war dogs, just trying to kiss sudden parts of India in that beast a kiss, the other in horror, sorrow fled to the master behind.

"Aha!" Zevran laughing, half lying on the ground, barely supporting his chin with one arm propped up the body, "Victory belongs to me, is not it?"

"Thirty pieces of silver is mine!" Oghren triumphantly facing Alistair and Sten waving fists. "Simply something to throw in the towel! Silver coins are handed Oghren here Come on!"

"This does not count!" Alistair protest.

Standing Asleena Leliana, Morrigan and Wynne side, witnessed the scene in front of the dwarf and the Knights Templar, she looked debate maintained a deadpan Sten, lying on the grass proud smirk wizard, and behind her, curled into a Mission Mabari, and finally opening said, "Zevran?

"What is commanded, my gray robe Rye?"

"Why did you just kiss my dog?"

there's some sort of modern parable about putting a sentence into a chinese translator, then putting it back through the other way... surely you've heard about that??

ah, but now your story has been translated into Engrish! which... isn't even chinese-based... but close enough, no?

"you have to buy him a hill heap so much cheese!"

and call him Chief Big Cheese!
(note: not mocking native americans, but how native americans are portrayed in horrible 50's style shows!)

it's odd, though, how zevran got turned from an assassin to a wizard....

yes, it is best to make up your own future.
when i played da2, i used a story where we killed zevran already. he was not in da2, then! i think i am happier that way!
da2 is another story. i do not bother thinking of it, with my warden.
what the developers say is canon, about zevran, i still ignore them.

It's a beautifully drawn fan comic telling the story of Nara, the Grey Warden (Dalish Elf Origin) with a bit of Zevran romance.
Great story and amazing drawings. I'd recommend it to anyone who is a DA:O fan, regardless of whether or not they like Zevran.

Too bad I finished the whole thing in a few hours. Gotta wait for the next chapter now.

I just finished a playthrough where I saw all of Zevran's romance for the first time, and I came back to the forums here just to find a sympathetic audience to squee with.

I can't believe you get the achievement for romancing him so early, and there is so much more to it.  Love the dialog about the earring (NOT  A LOVE TOKEN, NOT AT ALL) and his little freakout, then coming to his senses again.  I refused to bring him along to fight the archdemon, and it was heartbreaking to part with him.  And then in the epilogue, he feels like an established relationship.  (I'm going to rebuild the Wardens, will you come with me?... Of course, you're stuck with me now...) <3

As my offering to the Zevran shrine, here's a quick fanfiction scene I wrote after the end of my game.  I played male City Elf fighter, the "Secret Companion" killed the archdemon, and poor Alistair left the Wardens in despair (I still feel bad about that).  The PC is the last Grey Warden in Ferelden and is really glad that Zev stuck around to help with all the new recruits.

Zevran had that disapproving look again. 

I don't mind learning to repair armor.  I've only been a Grey Warden for a few weeks, and I'm still getting over the shock of learning all of their secrets at once.  Always expected I might want a family one day, a partner to grow old with once I retire from fighting.  Wups.  Guess not. 

I think the Commander is giving me simple tasks so that I'll have time to think.  The armory is a pleasant enough place in summer, with sunlight slanting in to warm up the wooden floor.  Zevran is good company, and tells the best stories while we sit around and stitch.  But right now he's got that look that means he's about to start complaining about the inferior leather we have in Ferelden.  I'm *really* sick of hearing that.  So I blurted out the first question that came to mind.

"Why are you teaching us, if you won't go through the Joining yourself?  Do the Grey Wardens mean something to you?"

He glanced up from the gauntlet he was working on.  "Only one of them does."

Everyone knows about the two of them.  They don't talk about it much, but it's not exactly a secret why Zevran is here.  He isn't in the order though.  He could still have it all, the family, the retirement, someone to grow old with.  Doesn't he realize?

"But you two don't exactly get to live happily ever after, do you?  He's a Grey Warden. When the taint starts to catch up to him, he'll be called to the Deep Roads to die fighting darkspawn.  How many years does he have to live, ten?  Doesn't that bother you?"

Zevran tucked a blond strand behind one pointed ear.  "No, because I expect the Crows will track me down and kill me long before that."

Crap.  He sounded as calm as if he was predicting tomorrow's weather.  I heard he used to be a Crow, but wasn't that ancient history?  "You think they are still hunting you?"

"I think," the Commander said, "that you and I together could kill one hell of a lot of Crows, Zev."  He shouldered through the door awkwardly with his arms full of blunted practice swords.

Their eyes met, and for a moment I wondered if they were angry about something. I thought about ducking out, but the Commander was blocking the door. 

Zevran looked away first.  "True."

The Commander turned to place the swords on their rack, one by one.  Zevran continued, "And when you are called, you and I together will kill one hell of a lot of darkspawn."

The Commander whirled around so fast, he actually dropped the last practice sword.  He *never* drops a weapon.  "Zev, no."

Zevran met his gaze again.  "If my battles are yours, then your battles are mine."

This time the Commander looked away.

Zevran went back to stitching leather.

God that was good!

At the sight of the elves, I understand why, in the comics do not show Zevran. I hope that will never show. I have no words that could express all the outrage at such mutilation elves that are considered "attractive" and "sexy.":crying::crying:


I will never recognize the canon is an eyesore! Zevran for me will always be the same as in DAO.

hah! i managed to stretch it over a couple of days. sticking to only 10 or 20 pages at a time.
and she wont take commissions to do canon characters drawn with yours. cuz dang, i was seriously thinking of a scene in B&Z she could do as a comic page that would rock... :/

in DA3, zevran would look like "kreacher" from Harry Potter!

julie reminds me... i don't think i mentioned how much i liked that sentiment in your story: how if zevran's fight against the crows is one the warden takes personally, then zevran takes the warden's fight against darkspawn (especially in the calling) as his fight, too.
that rocked!

Nice job, Zeleen! There is a file with all lore morphs - they can't be changed, but you can see the the position of sliders in the toolset. It helps a lot when you want to stay close to the lore and only want to make few tweaks, like making Zev look younger. It's on the same page as the toolset, it's called "Core and single player head morph".

GW2!Zevran is level 20 now. I'm liking the thief class much more than I expected (melee was still very broken in the beta I first tried it in).

I've done a little WvW as him and damn near destroyed an elementalist before he could even react to hit his mist form (elementalist is my main class... guess what Tannusen is?). That was a pretty proud moment. If he hadn't had three friends chomping at the bit to get at me, I'd have gotten him for sure.

But that's what happens when you spend fifteen minutes shaking your butt at the enemy team and infuriating them.



(My graphics are all set in the medium/none/low range, fyi.)

@HollowSunsets, that comic looks great, but I wasn't able to find page 1.  I'm not too familiar with deviantart so maybe I'm just clueless.  Do you know if it is possible to start from the beginning?

Shadow, my favorite bit of your re-translated story:

That Oghren is always "under irrigation." (is that what the kids call it in Ferelden?)

I just finished Awakening - great story. Too bad Zev is not in it, but the letter from him was fun. I like how the epilogue text is in the form of "rumors" so that you can select your own canon.

My Warden Commander says, after the end of Awakening:
Went to Antiva looking for the assassin Zevran - "Well, yeah, he wasn't home when he said he'd be."

Joined Zevran and they took over the Crows - "Bwahaha! Riiiight. There is not enough No in the world. Unless by "took over" you mean "killed enough of them that they decided to leave us alone." "

Caused some kind of major ruckus in the capital city - "Um, yeah, that part is true. Long story."

(Makes me wonder what the heck they got up to...)

deviantart posts everything backwards -- that is, the oldest/first image is the last one on the last page. so to find page one of the comic, go to that gallery, to the last page. then keep hitting the "prev" button at the top to get to the next page.

haha! i'm with you on the canon 'interpretation.' especially since i finished origins before awakenings was even out, so my brain handled the whole mess with the crows before awakenings even started. come to think of it... in my canon, zevran is there in awakenings for more than half the time.

no mere video game can defeat my brain!

(we won't mention the time i played 'witch hunt' and named the dog 'zevran' :X )
