I do not like comics. But it's canon? Then why is not there Zevran? The action takes place in the Antiva ...

I don't like the comics. I read The Silent Grove, and I didn't like the art, plot, or characterisation. It's not canon for me, just like I don't take the little online game or the short series with that female elf assassin as canon.

Oh, and here's my kissing Zev.

I do not like comic books, but it is considered canon. For some reason the developers distort canon.
Zevran had discussions with Alistair (possibly - mail). Comics are not shown us Zevran.
I solved this problem in my last fanfic. But fanfic - it's just a fantasy.

I think Zevran knows Alistair's intentions and wants to use it. He specifically introduced Alistair and Valisti

I write fanfiction for DAO and DAA. That's canon for me. All prequels and sequels are not canon for me. There's no obligation for a player of DAO to buy all other Bioware products somehow related to Dragon Age. I don't like the comics, it's crappy quality (seriously, they should have hired Pennies-four-eyes! :D) and will not pay for it any more.

DAO is an rpg game, where the fate of characters depend on player's decision. If the player decides to keep Alistair as a Warden, Bioware has no right to tell them 'but that's just your fantasy, the canon is that he's a king'. No, it's NOT. Giving someone a choice, and then tell them, three years later, 'sorry, but your choice is wrong, you should have done this, because this is what we need for another product' is too stupid, and the fans are not obliged to accept it as canon.

I am not supporting Orson Scott Card, who's involved with the DA comics, and I have done my best since he was announced as being on the project to discourage others from supporting him as well.

As someone who is actually involved in the comics industry, I refuse to pad the portfolio of someone who actively uses his personal income to oppress others. And making a comic successful is padding his portfolio. Which very few people seemed to believe me on, but there you have it. I do know what I'm talking about.

And now he gets to write Superman for DC. If you think DC didn't look at the DA comic's sales when considering him for the job, you're hilarious.

As for why OSC hasn't put Zevran in the comic... Zevran is a bisexual male. The only person who doesn't want OSC to write Zevran more than the readers who know about OSC's bullcrap... is OSC himself.

And that's all the ranting I'm going to do about it. Folks can google him. I'm so disgusted with DC right now, and I'm still disgusted with Bioware, and I will never, ever purchase the DA comics. A writer can have whatever backwards uptight views they want as long as they're not turning their paycheck into funding for organizations like NOM.

Although as was pointed out during the recent DC kerfluffle about Superman, DC wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole if he was pulling the exact same thing on women or racial minorities. But it's somehow okay if it's about LGBT people.

I wish he wasn't involved in DA stuff at all, and he's welcome to keep his filthy hands off Zev.

Oddly enough, you know it's sorta considered 'canon' that after Zev is in Antiva if your Warden survived DAO and was friendly or in love with Zevran, he goes to Antiva looking for him?

Aroihkin, do I understand correctly? Zevran is not shown in the comic, because he - bisexual? But, excuse me - why is there in the comic Isabella, who no less bisexual? Why do we constantly poking her fat ass, even though many players it is disgusting?
Double standards?

After that comics I stopped respecting Bioware.
Such cowardly indulging homophobia - just a shame!

Well hey, Leliana is pretty much a lesbian with the "Only if it's you" trope for the male Warden (it's much harder to romance her as a male character). So I don't think you can really say Bioware is homophobic.

The fact that they even allow same-sex pairings in the games themselves is pretty much proof that they are not.

This is completely OSC, and he is not Bioware, nor does he represent Bioware. He is simply one person that was hired to write comics. If he is uncomfortable writing a character that is not straight, then honestly, that's his choice. Sure, we can believe his reasoning is stupid, but if it's something he does not believe in and something that makes him uncomfortable, there's no reason why he should HAVE to write it.

The developers are not homophobic, but you can see that they are very dependent on their opinions. Is the comic book  was not written by  David Gaider?  Write comic book about Antiva - and not show Zevran? Who first told us about Antiva? This is very strange!
I know of no other explanation for such strange things, except fear of  the homophobes.
I would be very unfortunate if such an interesting character , as Zevran, will be removed from the world because of the shouting homophobes:unsure:

I think there's some confusion. Years ago, there was a comic series by Orson Scott Card set in Thedas that didn't use any of the DAO characters.

Now, there is a Dark Horse comic series that does not involve Orson Scott Card. It features Alistair, Isabela, Varric and Sten.

It's been said repeatedly that the comics and the books are not 'canon.' They are 'a' canon that Gaider uses to keep his various spin-offs consistent, but they don't mean that your not-king!Alistair is suddenly really the king.

Zevran probably isn't in the current comics because they're about Alistair, Isabela and Varric - mostly Alistair and his daddy issues. When they're in Antiva, it's seen through the lens of Isabela's ex-husband's connections, and it goes to her backstory and development. It's a very limited, short format, and there's just no room to shoehorn in Zevran, too.

As to why Isabela and not Zevran - probably a combination of DA2 being more recent. And she has a boat. And I think they wanted to do more qunari lore, which wouldn't have worked as well with Zevran. And it's implied Alistair wanted to travel with strangers, so he would have to explain less. Or something. And I just suspect Gaider isn't as interested in writing the rest of Zevran's story.

Which, again, I'm okay with. I'm not thrilled with a lot of the post-Origins narrative decisions.

Zevran has a possible cannon as it is. If the warden dies, he goes to Antiva and pretty much proceeds to killing Crows until he becomes a master himself. If the Warden doesn't die and was a friend or lover of Zevran, he still goes to Antiva, but the Warden later goes to find him in Antiva to confront or save him. It's not really a lot of information given, but he's still around (if you let him live). He's not gone by any means.

That also being said, there's a LOT of characters in the Dragon Age universe and not everything can follow just one person around. Antiva is a country, not just a city, and even if we were just talking about a city, think about how many people live in cities even in the real world.

Ah, I stopped paying attention to anything involving "Dragon Age" and "comic" when the Orson Scott Card one happened, so I didn't even know Dark Horse had taken a different DA comic on. :3

I may actually look into that one. I take most canon post-DA:A with a grain of salt, and I tend to pick and choose what parts I'll use for my own stories. (As should be obvious with S&S, where I had Tannu basically strut through DA2 Act III, pluck a few interesting characters out, and haul them back to Ferelden. All while dragging other interesting characters and a few interesting plot points behind him. XD)

You guys are being too quiet again. XD So I guess I'll throw my screencaps in the pile too. :P

And I even tweaked the curves in photoderp. :P

I've been too lazy to install any mods to specifically alter the make-outs, so Zev stares blankly at Tannu's nose. *snerk* This was right after the bad poetry bit, which amazingly appropriately triggered right when it would have in the S&S storyline (which is when Scarlet Switch happens). So that was neat. :3

Tannu does have a rather interesting nose. XD And by interesting I mean big.

Although to be fair, Zev's is pretty huge too. Which is awesome. Big noses for the win~

Heh, I remember when I was making make-out mods for Zevran -- one day my older son, I think he was 12 or 13 at the time, walked in, looked at my screen, and asked, "Mom, WHY are you making those two guys kiss?" So I told him, "Because it's hot."

All four of my kids all think I'm really weird. Their friends all think I'm really cool, but that's because they don't know any other mom who plays video games and writes mods.  We're becoming more common, but I think it will be another decade before it's considered the norm.

Hi guys! Does anyone know if they ever fixed (romanced) Zevran's bugged DA2 dialogue? Or is the only fix still that mod that makes him think the warden is dead?

It was never fixed. It never will be. They were aware of the issue (I was a beta tester for the patch that fixed the dialog bugs) -- for whatever reason, they chose not to fix it.

Zev needs more romance scenes. Alistair gets lots of ones where they walk around and have fun... For Zev we just go swimming and ... well you know. xD

Well that sucks. Oh well. I guess I won't be using any of my Zevran romance imports... Er, I think I romanced Alistair once.

I'll just leave a dwarf kiss before I go
