Shadow of Light Dragon started it with this prompt entry, and then she shared the frog photo. Then something possessed me to caption it.

No, it really doesn't sound too romantic.  There are far crueler things you can do to him than that.  Your warden only slit his throat.  Mine destroyed his soul!

Anyway, I'm not sure why you felt the need to share an off-topic minute choice in a single player game here, but for your efforts, have a kiss.

And here's a screenshot from the game just for an added bonus.  Anyway, have a great day!

This really cracks me up for some reason.  I know it's not what the animators had in mind.

Edit: Argh! Corker knows my MO.  Troll?  YAY!  Pic spam time!

Okay, I legit have a question for Some Gamer Guy:

What are you doing?

I seriously don't get the folks who come in to troll these aging forums. If you're looking to stir up manure, Tumblr seems to be where it's at right now. The Dragon Age Confessions Tumblr regularly gets confessions that get upwards of 100 reblogs, often with plenty of sniping, eyerolling, hostility and frustration. I see some go upwards of 200 at least once a week or so.

Even around here, the DA:I forum is the happening place. Is it too heavily modded? Are people coming back to the older forums precisely because they're quiet and empty and infrequently posted-on, in the theory that the mods aren't looking?

I just... to the extent that I understand troll-logic at all, the goal is to walk into a place, post something inflammatory, and then giggle when people react, right? But there's hardly anyone here to react to you, and mostly they'll offer you some cookies or something. ejoslin may post a dwarf kiss.

So really... what's the motivation here? I ask because you're not the first troll to suddenly pop up in these forums. Is there a migration going on? What's the story?

This is the Zevran thread, where even Zevran-dislikers can share their experiences. Or so I thought.

Maybe if you had more to say other than the fact that you slit his throat. Why you dislike him maybe? Simply coming in and saying, "I hate him, so I killed him" is really a waste of a post.

No one told you not to post -- no need to be defensive. She was just wondering what your motivation was. What you said didn't seem to open any type of meaningful discussion. People are allowed to dislike Zevran. We've had some great conversations here regarding that, in fact. And even people who like Zevran have differing views on various aspects of his character.

Ultimately, Zevran is a fictional character in a single player game. If you choose to slit his throat, no one cares. If you want to discuss the character, this is the thread to do so -- positive or negative. But if you just want to upset people, this is the wrong thread. Most people here have a good sense of reality and understand that this is only a game.

That said, you may want to try keeping him alive one playthrough, either befriending him or romancing him. He's an exceptionally well-written character with an engaging story arc. Or not. It's your time that you spend playing, and if you'd prefer to kill off certain potential companions, that certainly is valid.

Gah, have another kiss :D And another wish for a great day! It's not Zevran nor a dwarf, but I think it's kind of sweet anyway.

Posted Image

Edit to add:  You know, the fun thing about Zevran's stories is they are so varied and his decisions are so reactive to how the warden treats him.  If you let him live, you can end up with him betraying your warden and trying to kill him/her, or having him be the first one to tell you, as a friend, that a warden is going to die and that he would die in his/her place.  You can try to be FWB (but it's hard to keep that one up) or he may end up proposing.  And then there are many places to land in between.

Maybe your warden can never bring himself to trust Zevran.  Maybe your warden feels Zevran should be his servant (after all, Zevran does offer that service) and tells him so.  Maybe all those things you or your warden feels turns out to be justified and you're either angry or feeling vindicated about that.

Anyway, if that is the type of thing you're interested in hearing about, there are plenty of people here interested in discussing it.

The thread title "Ridiculously Awesome" *might* be something of a clue that it's a fan thread.

Honestly, I'm not that big a fan of "sharing experiences."  I am up for discussions, though, in the vein of:

"I've never been able to justify keeping Zevran in my party. He just tried to assassinate my Warden!  I mean, I know it's possible and he's a LI and all, but how can you justify sparing him without using metagame knowledge?"

or

"How do you get past all that groveling he does when you recruit him? Ugh, I lost all respect for the guy."

or

"I think it's kind of creepy that he never really expresses remorse for all the people he's killed.  Doesn't that bother you all?"

...but only if you're actually interested in the replies.  Most people aren't.  They don't like him, they don't care why other people do like him, and they have no interest in understanding that.  Which is fine.  I don't like Anders.  However, I also don't go into the Anders fan thread to complain about Anders, because that would be dumb.  And trollish.

So, if you're legit not a troll, welcome to the Internet.  Someone will be along to issue you a lolcat and a link to Google shortly.

I do not understand people who go to the topic, only to have to report that they "hate the character and killed him." What do you prove it? Yours heroism? Or just want to spoil the mood of the fans of the character? In the first case - it's stupid and a waste of time, in the second case - a fat trolling.

And to finish off a bound wounded and helpless  - vile and low. This is a sign of weakness and callousness. These players, I do not respect.<_<

Your character, committed a vile act, is no better than a dirty murderer. I hope you're proud of him.:sick::sick:

Actually, I noticed one interesting thing -  Zevran after questioning can be ... released.Released, demonstrating grace and mercy, if do not  like the character. But - no! The concepts of "grace and mercy" some players  do not peculiar. Only need to kill.
My honor, pride, and compassion is not possible to raise a hand on  the defeated enemy. It is unfortunate that the other players have no such virtues!

"I was scared Zevran, and therefore killed him immediately. Do not want to know anything."
Here is the true meaning of the phrase: "I killed him."

"Flag in your hands" - we say at home. Action without Zevran. And you'll never understand why he has a lot of fans. They appreciate the interesting character.

I never got rid of the character, not recognizing him. I do not like to kill friends. Even in the game.

He betrayed my last character, a sweet Dalish elf, in Denerim because she didn't talk to him frequently or buy him enough pretty presents. This was of course after she spared his life, and then later tried to protect his identity when encountering the Crows in a back road. Thus, Zevran is what I would personally call "vile".

My second character had reasons of ruthlessness (he's a villainous Grey Warden who I personally wouldn't "like" either if I met the man), but the above is the reason I dislike the Zevran from a meta standpoint.

Fair enough -- so you fall into the category I mentioned, that you are angered by the betrayal.  In truth, Wynne and Leliana trying to kill my warden did shade my opinion of those characters, so I can get why someone would have a stronger reaction to Zevran where the betrayal seems more out-of-left field (though Leliana did try to kill my warden at 100 Love, so that was pretty harsh as well).

Of course, you never did spend the time to get to know your would-be assassin.  The betrayal only happens at neutral or hostile approval levels.  To me that seems a bit crazy.  This is a person who tried to kill you -- you would think you would talk to him, and decide whether to let him stay and travel with you or kick him out of the party or kill him (all of these are options throughout the game).

If Zevran gets to above neutral, the betrayal doesn't happen.  I view it as a pragmatic move.  He has no reason to choose you above the Crows -- especially since the Crow sent was a former lover.  I mean, you can come up with reasons (I saved him, ya da da) but again, this is an assassin.  That crows fight has three possible outcomes -- betraying, leaving, and him fighting alongside your warden.  What happens is based entirely on Zevran's feelings towards the warden -- though in the one situation where he may leave (romance on, approval between 26 - 70 Care), one dialog choice will have him stay, though his leaving is the only time you have a chance to learn that Taliesen was his lover.

Zevran has the potential to change more than any other character in the game. If you got to know him, you'd find out that he also finds himself vile.  His major problem is he's not as cold blooded as he wants to be, and if you talk to him, you can get to that side of him.  He's a loyal lover and a loyal friend.  He is not only willing to, but asks to die in the warden's place.  That's a far cry from the assassin you allowed to join.

Just about any of the characters will attack you if you don't give them enough pretty presents and then do something they don't like. Leliana will attack you if you defile the urn of sacred ashes, Wynne might betray you at the tower... Zevran is not an exception. These people are pretty realistic in their actions based on their personalities.

This is probably one of the main reasons I really like Zevran. His character arc. How he changes and grows in the game, and his potential to allow your character to arc as well. It's very interesting being somewhere and haveing him voice his opinion. Say "I can't allow abominations to escape the tower", he will ask you to show mercy to the mages. When you are confronted by the slave trader, he will tell you to look into the eyes of the would-be slaves before you decide. There's so much more to Zevran than being an assassin.

I just want to point out that I was promised dwarf kissing. This being a Zevran centric thread it ought to be Zevran kissing a dwarf, but nonetheless, there has been no posting of dwarven smooches to date.

It is a grave injustice!
