Funny- called up a Google Search for "female Zevran" and for some reason it turned up the portrait ejoslin uses early on in the search results.

OK, found a good f!Zev candidate... Tried "female elf assassin" instead...



Though disqualified due to lacking the proper facial tattoos... or Antiva background... or California looks... and, ugh, those pig-ear elf ears...Maybe not... Back to the drawing board...

How's this? From "rogue elf women"- though I altered the original a tad. Not a blond... and I added a (very mildly pixelated) face tattoo... but she has a hint of Zev's charm, humor, style, urbanness, down-to-earthishness... Hard to find another Zev...

Another Zevran crossplay.

Oddly, a Google Image Search for "Rule 63 Zevran" only turns up Zinoodle's f!Zev that Shadow posted, plus her one with f!Zev and the Brooddaddy and discoball. *squints* Okay, there is one other one, but it's sort of generic!elf!chick who happens to have Zev's tats.

'Course, I think I got Safe Search on, which is probably cutting out a whooooole lot of results...

Its called A Child unexpected A Zev/FTabris fanfiction set post Blight Pre Awakening. The author is skybound2 I actually found her in a ME3 fancreation thread and was voraciously consuming all her fem shep Garrus ficlets when I saw she had a whole lot of other work and thisone was really good.

Her portrayal of Zevran as a father was very heartwarming. So I thought I'd share in case no one here had seen it.

I hope not! I saw plenty of Tallis portraits I was trying not to use as an f!Zev, since, well, she's already a fleshed out character of her own. Ah, well, I ultimately didn't like that rabbit-toothed one anyway. Even the last one (which I do like) has the DA2 Martian insect elf ears, but at least she wears them well...

Looking over the Zev images again, it seems the fans tend to have two extremes- sexy/romantic/suave!Zev and sanguinary/killer!Zev (and a sexy/romantic/suave/sanguinary/killer!Zev)- with a tributary trend of cupiedoll!Zev. Given the Zevran the Father theme from the aforementioned story, this was a slightly different Zev look.



With all the sex that Zev gets associated with, innerestin' that there aren't any comments in-game about kids he might have... Or are there?

No, there's nothing canon about Zevran's children. Even fanfics are rare, usually it's his and Warden's baby. In fact I remember only one, where Zevran's daughter from Antiva came to assassinate him, but I think it was abandoned.

Regarding Zevran and children -- there is a banter that some people do take to mean that Zevran may have a child, though for women, with a slight difference in dialog it comes across as Zevran perhaps wanting to have a child. I actually was surprised at the interpretation, but it does fit.

Shale: I have noticed that the painted elf seeks the attention of the Grey Warden.
Zevran: He certainly does.
Shale: <desc>Snorts</desc> I watched many such couplings during the time I spent immobile in Honnleath. Or I should say I was <emp>forced</emp> to watch.
Shale: You do know that this usually ends in reproduction. I have seen it many times, indeed.
Zevran (male warden): I doubt that would be a problem in <emp>this</emp> particular instance... but who knows? The act of creation is grand fun.
Zevran (female warden): Oh? That is not such a terrible thought. Creating a new life can be a great deal of fun.

Shale (if Shale's personal quest has been done): Not always. When a golem is created, it involves an agony one would not believe. How fun is that, painted elf?
Zevran: Oh, I don't know. It could be plenty of fun, if done right.
Shale: Now the painted elf jests with me.
Zevran: <desc>Chuckles</desc> You think so, do you? Have it your way.

OR

Shale (if personal quest has not been done): So you say. I have no idea how a golem is created, but I doubt I shall be creating one anytime soon.
Zevran: Just as well, I imagine. Any lover of yours would no doubt be quickly reduced to a puddle of bruises.
Shale: So you see me winning the affection of another golem, do you? Most golems are slaves to whomever holds their control rod.
Zevran: Funny, it works exactly the same way for us as well.

I always took the "creating a new life" as an euphemism for sex, but the people who took it as him actually making a child were just as surprised at my interpretation.

Here's another one with Shale -- I'll leave off the part if her personal quest is done. It's a bit more ambiguous, but taken with the other, could say more about his thoughts on this and perhaps suggest he has had a child.

Zevran: So tell me, Shale... if you had the opportunity to become flesh, would you take it?
Shale: It does seem rather preoccupied with this topic. (annoyed)
Zevran: Humor me. Would you choose to live? To breathe the air and taste of flesh? Or would you remain the immortal stone that you are?
Shale: Would I also get to age and bleed and become sick and die? (all things which she considers horrid)
Zevran: Of course. These are the things we accept for the blessing of being what we are. (said with a shrug)
Shale: Then no thank you. I have no need of such frailties. (snort of derision)
Zevran: And what of family? Of children? Life does not begin and end with yourself. (earnest)
Shale: I... have no desire to produce offspring. (taken aback -- she hadn't thought about this part)
Zevran: Your form is wondrous, that's true. But while you do not suffer the lows of life, you also do not experience the highs. It is something to consider.
Shale: It is nothing to consider. What it speaks of is impossible. (gruff -- but she is covering up her thoughts, now)

My own thoughts on this is that he does not have children, but it is something he has thought about. One of those impossible things in his former life that now he has thought more about.  However, I do get why someone would take these banters to mean having a child IS something he has experienced.  Otherwise, why would he think there was any joy being born into such a harsh life?  And why would he see the birth of a child from a parent's perspective?

However, in his stories to the warden, he never brings up children, which is why I think he doesn't have any.  It's only in these two banters.

Since he's talking about the act of creation, I always thought he was talking about sex. Whether or not it ends in procreation is secondary, but that doesn't mean he's not averse to the idea of having kids one day. Whether or not he'd be willing to be responsible for them is something else.

Yes, I also always thought those conversations were about sex, but I can see why some may understand it's about children.

I believe that it is possible that Zevran has children, but merely as a by-product of his being 'the best lover in Antiva'. The means of protection were not much reliable in that time, so it is possible he has an offspring or two (or thirty seven xD), but they wouldn't be planned and expected. I can't imagine Crows supporting their assassins in establishing families...

Out of all my Zevs, only one has a kid, and only because she snuck up on him.

My Bann Tabris needed help around the house, so she took in orphaned Amethyne. They never 'officially' adopted, just like they never married, but in my head she more or less slides into the space of 'small person we need to do right by.' Since neither of them ever has to confront the reality of 'holy Maker, I'm a PARENT' head on, it just sort of... happens.

Most of his former lovers should be dead anyway. *shrug* Not that I like the idea - but that's the way with loving an assassin and all that. Otherwise human women would have convinced their husbands the cildren are theirs. And I'm sure every female Crow (and every wh*re) would have known a backstreet abortionist.
About the Shale-banters - always loved them. And - call me a hopeless romantic, but I really liked to read them as a statement that Zev wouldn't mind to have children with his Warden.  (Otherwise it wouldn't make so much sense the banters for a male Warden are different, no?)

Yes, from the first banter I was thinking that when he says, "Creating a new life can be a great deal of fun," he's not talking about the results of the process- having a child- but of the pleasure in the process, or the "act" itself, as is the terminology in his m!Warden response. But then Shale counters with a comment not about the act itself but of making children, so maybe it's to be understood as about having kids. Then again, golems don't have a sex act to discuss and only have the creation act, and it's sort of all in one go, so maybe Shale just has no other comparison to make. Zev's every comment though is about the act, not the creation- "puddle of bruises," "fun, if done right," etc.

So I suppose a Zev brood really does remain unmentioned...

What Bloodsong says is true though. Nearly all the exploits he boasts of tend to be of whorls and women he subsequently kills- even his most dear Rinna- so it's not like he was sowing seeds where they might have sprouted... but he also speaks of the renown of his prowess as a generality, so it's still a chance. Would make for a good story anyway- even if paternity suits may get lost in adjudication- meeting someone on the road who claims to have his kid, or one of his tales and how he managed it.

I like Corker's idea of a de facto adoption, sort of resolves the plot difficulties of Zev never seeming to acknowledge kids without excluding him from ending up with them anyway. The 37 Zevs story Klidi mentioned was hilarious- plus the one about "Uncle King." lol That story mentioned earlier though is great- been reading in snippets. Not sure if it's entirely believable- that Zev would be enraged about not being told he had a kid with the f!Warden, that he'd be so taken with a single child he'd made (so it's really the only one for the promiscuous elf?), or that he'd warm and adjust to fatherhood in a single day- but it's compelling and charming to imagine...

Speaking of the f!Zev (a while ago now), I just stumbled on this recent (month-old) mod for a "Zevrann" who apparently replaces m!Zev in-game. Well, maybe it's better than calling her Zevra or Zevrana...

Btw, Bloodsong, your videos had me in stitches... The Duncan one is just awesomely ridiculous.
