How much approval is required to prevent Zevran from betraying you?

The wiki says it's at least 26 to stop him betraying you.  Not sure what it has to be to get him to fight alongside you as a friend, because my Alimancing Cousland PT hasn't gotten to that point yet.  (She's friendzoned him, but they're still in Orzammar dealing with the hornet's nest of dwarven politics.)

[Edit] Actually, the wiki says 26 approval on Zev's page and 33 on Taliesen's.   No hint as to which is correct.

And the initial approval is what, 20?

21 or so to get to warm.

[Edit] Or what SherryGold said below.

I believe 21 is still neutral. You need at least 26, He asks about his future with you when he reaches 26.

I stand corrected, then.  Like I said, I've never yet had to worry about him betraying me by the time the Taliesen fight comes up.

I know what you mean. I always have trouble keeping his approval rating down even when I want to go slow with him because I love talking to him and hate upsetting him. I've had DA II well over a month ago and I have yet to finish it. Downloaded Inquisition and have yet to start it. During that time I did at least four rounds with Origins. I can't keep away from the game because it really is a joy to watch him fighting and hear his various comments..

I don't see how you'd have trouble with that. Have you checked the wiki? Half the dialogue options you have available get disapproval. It's a real landmine.

I guess what one person finds easy another person find difficult. I always have trouble with raising Alistair's approval rating high enough to harden him (especially after I side with templars and let Jowan go free so that the only option left is to kill Conor) and yet Alistair fans find it no problem to have his rating over 90. Zevran being almost always my wardens' LI helps. I noticed that it was far easier to raise Alistair's approval rating when my PC romanced him for an achievement. However, provided that you don't unintentionally lead him on (like asking 'what do you fancy?) and then reject him or say something horrible, conversation mistakes are easy to rectify because it tends to be only a couple of points down while there are conversations that could get you +10 points afterwards if you navigate it right even if you don't treat him as a potential LI. If you don't approve an assassin as a profession, for instance, don't ask 'do you actually enjoy being an assassin?' and if you don't want to romance him, don't choose options that could be interpreted as you are interested in him that way and I think you should be just fine with him.

So in my latest playthrough, this happened right in front of Eamon, Isolde, Teagan and Connor... (spoiler for size)

Spoiler

My F!Tabris, who is very dark-skinned, was visibly blushing hearing him say this right in front of a bunch of shem nobles :D

Thank you, Sherrygold! I'll check it out.

Springacres: I prefer them long, with at least 4-10 chapters posted already. one shots are also good.  zevran paired with either male or female warden. or even rinna and talisen. as for content, I'll read anything, tragedy, angest, humour, and so on.

On another note, If zevran in the conversation about the dalish, disproves about being asked if the woodcutter was his father, then why does saying," so you're an assassin and the son of a ******" gain much more disproval then the wood cutter one?

As the warden is just restating the facts that are given by zevran. I could see both choices poking a nerve, yet there is a difference.

Those are some nice tips.

That said, I can't imagine how the Warden would trust Zevran right from the beginning. That could be earned after getting to know him better, but not so quickly.

Spoilered because all of these are NSFW, but well... it's Zevran, so what do you expect?

Spoiler

And that's all the series/multi-chapter FFs I have both read and bookmarked.  (For now ;D )

As for your other question... I think it has to do, again, with what that statement tells him about how the PC thinks of him.  When he's admitting his mother is a prostitute, that's one thing.  But hearing that from someone else is just another reminder of his lack of innate social status.  And it may also be a reflection of how he actually feels about being an assassin, versus how he says he feels.

You are welcome. Hope you find it enjoyable. The fiction brings out Zevran's personality rather well and the Youtube clips are really impressive. He must have spent a lot of time to create them.

I think the reason the second response gets more disapproval is because it could sound as a negative response and not just a curiosity that unintentionally makes him uncomfortable, though you can't be certain without hearing the tone that accompanies the comment.

Not sure whether there is anyone in that company, apart from Dog, the warden could trust right from the beginning. As one of my favorite quotes says 'To err is humane, to forgive is canine'. A dog has a nobler soul than any of humans.

Leliana might well be a spy. Morrigan's motive is never clear. Sten and Shale, how would the Warden know they would not snap again? Even Alistair, how would the Warden know that the taint in him would not make him unstable? For that matter, how would he know he could trust himself? After all, the Warden knew very little about being a grey Warden and Alistair is too fond of Duncan to question him about anything.

The Warden should give trust to any of his company only when they earned it. However, that does not mean he should voice his suspicions openly. On the contrary, he should try his best to get his companions feel they fit in and not to make them feel unwelcome if he is going to have them around. Zevran is already scrutinized by the companions and looked upon with suspicion and the Warden needs to give him a reason to stay and fight well for him if he wants to keep Zevran. Otherwise, he might as well tell him to leave. If he isn't sure about Zevran, he should make extra efforts to get to know him and treat him well as long as Zev is in the team.

Seriously.

It took a few tries to make a female Surana who went for Zevran instead of Alistair. (Had to make up a whole backstory of her remembering her happy life with a large family in the alienage, until human Templars took her away, and how she cried uncontrollably when she first came to the Circle, and a few Templars took her into a backroom and beat her black and bloody and threatened to make her Tranquil if she didn't stop crying. Now she has a strong visceral aversion to Templars, and is naturally inclined to like fellow elves more than humans.)

I had a reoccurring bug in my modded Origin games that allowed me to go back and forth between Alistair and Zevran. I took advantage of that to the max. I never had to break up with either of them but when I'd hook up with one, then the other would get his romance going again. In the case of Alistair, he'd give me the rose again and I think basically Zevran would ask me to his tent again.

So in the end, my female Cousland married King Alistair (the wedding was beautiful) and Zevran remains her best friend forever. So in DAI, when that female Cousland is in the deep roads, looking for a cure for the taint, Zevran is with her, making sure she stays safe, while King Alistair runs the kingdom, and waits for her to return.

It's all so romantic. :D

Except for the beating by Templars, the gender and the mistrust of humans, this is my canon Warden.

I think I'll end up in a paradox. I think I'll romace both of them before they tell me to choice... I'll choice Zevran though ): I love you Alistair.. The next Surana I'll make will romace you but choice to keep Loghian alive! And then you go die did!

I didn't think you could get to the blood mage quests in Denerim until the lead-up to the Landsmeet?

However, if this game had a multiplayer mode, you would have my canon Warden's support.  Any chance he gets to wipe the floor with blood mages, he'll take, regardless of the consequences for his digestive system afterwards.
