The pheasant story btw is true. My ma used to do it the family chickens when she was a kid
@ Corker, hrmmm. If we take Awakenings as lore, he goes back to Antiva.Which is sad.

More to come later *G*
@Hilde - *grins* Love Zevran’s teasing of Alistair, and the way Auryn turned the tables on Zev made me smirk happily. Lovely work, as usual
@Shadow of Light Dragon – heeeee! This was so much fun. You really captured all the bet participants well, and the last line had me in stitches.
@maradeux -- I skipped these, since I want to read the full stories when I have a decent amount of free time available; you are too prolific for me to keep up *G*
@wildannie – very sweet; I can think of no better way for a Warden to receive comfort from his/her nightmares than a Zevran kiss.
@caridounette – nice contrast between the nature of the first kisses you depicted; I like!
@Kornichon -- *laughs* I adore both your drawing and your humor in the strip. This really helped cheer me up after a hard week, so thank you!
@FutileSine – Very dark, but I liked it because of that. Zevran makes it clear he’s got a lot in his past that he’s not proud of doing, and seeing an episode like this is harsh but realistic.
@ frostajulie – Ah, your poor Dalish suffered the same fate as my female City Elf who romanced Alistair, though the circumstances of the breakup were different. Zevran does make the perfect antidote to a broken heart, though *G*
@ Jade5233 – welcome!

...durrr, I'll check when I get home. Irini Cousland had him at Friend and I did Awakening with her, *and* I think I screencapped all the epilogue slides.

I believe that only happens if the Warden does the US?Sarah1281 wrote...
When Zevran's a friend, I'm pretty sure his epilogue is going to confront the Crows and then never being sure if taking them over was a victory or not.

I think if you let Zevran go early (either when you first meet, or after you kill Taliesen), he gets away from the Crows forever. What happens if he stays and you don't do the US?
Before Awakening came out, if he stayed with the Warden (as a friend), pretty much the same happened than if he stayed with a LI, except the "for a time" would definitely be until he had to deal with the Crows. Staying with the gray wardens, he would be under their protection and stay without undergoing the joining. I never got the impression he took the Crows over though -- that struck me as what would happen if he broke -- the compassion and kindness in him would disappear, and his pragmatic and cold side would come out in spades. Perhaps, though, that warmth and kindness really only comes out if romancing him -- though there isn't too much extra dialog if he's romanced, his voice, his expressions, etc., are warmer and happier in the greetings and such if romanced.
After Awakening? I think it was B team writing, but it did seem to become canon that he takes over the Crows no matter what. Really, the Awakening epilogue slides have some weird inconsistencies if you romanced Zevran; it did seem like an afterthought. You have to handwave things like the Vigilance sword being stolen by the crows (that you, hmmmm, have possibly taken over?).
Anyway, more coffee.
Edit: Anyway, Zevran's story struck me as one of redemption. Which doesn't fit in too well with him taking over the crows no matter what, though fits in with it beautifully if the warden does the US.

This here is my area of interest. What does not-Crow, not-Warden trainer Zevran do with the rest of his life? Freelance assassin and roguish lover? Captain of the Kirkwall Guard and devoted father of three? First mate on the Siren's Call? Killed in a freak accident involving three blond(e)s, two bottles of legacy White Shear, and a falling harpsichord?

I think the important question here is whether the blondes were attractive.

Probably the latter!
Really, though, Zevran wanted two things when you met him -- to get away from the Crows, and to die. His main problem is he doesn't know any way BUT the Crows -- it's all he knows. But he doesn't want that any more. Freelance assassin actually seems likely, but his main problem would be keeping a low profile. He's a character for sure, and the kind who draws notice. He's arrogant, but it's justified.
He also doesn't trust anyone (wisely) so I don't see him becoming a devoted family man, or doing anything mundane really.

@sarah: Being the naughty schoolboy seems so very Zev. I agree with Leliana. Your Zevran will probably never learn another specialization, but he will have a grand time not learning. haha
@ICevoL: That was very sweet of KaiLynn to help out. I lol'd at the freaking out over the spider.
@payroo: I think it only counts as a serenade if he actually takes Zevran up on that private performance.
@mara & jenovan: Since even I don't know what's in that first song, you'll have to use your imaginations.
@Halae Dral: Do I detect a bit of jealously from Zemariel? Alas, it is so hard to stay angry at Zev...
@soignee: Like Corker, I started the wolf part and said "Oh, that's Zev." A very well drawn parallel.

I think Zev would be a good father. Just because he has a family doesn't nessesarrally mean his life would become mundane.

More feedback for jenovan's prompt...
@ Sarah1281 -- *grins* Poor Alistair… he really stands little chance of not blushing with Zevran around stirring the pot.
@ Korina1982 – Awwww! Beautiful reunion, along with the bloodshed that Zevran loves – What could be better?
@jenovan – This was *so* lovely. Zev’s concern and the intimacy between him and Alessar was very touching.
@TanithAeyrs – really enjoyed your take on Zevran and Rinna’s first kiss. The battle rush transforming into something more personal was very well done.
And now, feedback for the new prompt entries! *G*
@ Sarah1281 – hee! Really fun interaction between Zev and Leliana. That Zev is a naughty boy *EG*
@ Korina1982 -- *giggles hysterically* Keiran is right; Zev is totally incorrigible, and we wouldn’t want him any other way. So funny; I’m just imagining the lyrics to that first song *wags eyebrows*
@payroo – I am overflowing with squee at the adorableness here. I
@ Halae Dral – Fun story! I’ve never had Zev offer to catch Isabella cheating (though I’ve read it’s possible if you play cards long enough). Really enjoyed your take on this aspect of Duelist.
@ soignée – Your warden is frightening, while charming at the same time. Interesting dynamic between him and Zev that you built in a very short interlude. The “lone wolf” parallel was very apt *G*

@ Sarah1281, frostajulie, Halae Dral, payroo, maradeux, jenovan, and Korina1982
Thanks for reading!
I always figured it would be harder to learn a specialization from a book; it would probably be much more difficult to pick up a technique just from written text with no “expert” on hand to correct mistakes. Regarding Kai’s “rescue” – he has a habit of mistakenly assuming that everyone is as sensitive to teasing as he is and went into protective mode, even though Zev didn’t really need it LOL.
On a side note, KaiLynn was a shapeshifter for 85% of my DAO play-through before I changed him to spirit healer. Despite everyone saying SS was a useless specialization, I wanted to give it a fair shot. Found I wasn’t using it much at all, so I used the respec-mod to change to SH for the end game.

Zevran is flirting. No one said it had to be true.
Do not want? It's more suggestive (sword allusions and sparring) than explicit. If you'd rather leave it entirely in the reader's imagination, I'll burn my notes.
ETA: Which is to say, I have five stanzas of "A Quick Study" if you want them, or none if you don't.

If that's what the song's about, then it makes a fine title, yes?
Ballad form, so you can sing it to the tune of Gilligan's Island, Amazing Grace, or any other ballad form song you happen to know.
A Quick Study
The Dalish elves in forests dark
Live life quite stern and chaste
But if you've met a Dalish elf
You know that that's a waste
I fancied a fine archer
Keiran was his name
If you'd seen those shoulders, too
You would have felt the same
Since he was a novice
A dagger duel I'd planned
But no dar'misu this Dalish had
He had a dar'missan!
A spry and graceful people
Quite flexible as well
Although his moves were most unsure
Before that sword I fell
And now we duel most reg'larly
Yes, every single night
I'm pleased to say my student quick
Can put up quite the fight

@mara, nicely done! I imagine it sounds nicer in German, but I have no idea how it'd all be pronounced...
I failed the time limit spectacularly, and I probably won't have time/brainpower to try again this week, so here's my non-entry: To the Victor...

I think he would be a good father as well -- and he does say he wouldn't mind having a child with the (fem) warden. HOWEVER, that's with the warden. I don't see anyone else getting close to him like that. I know, I know, but still, I just don't see it.
