A Change of Plans

She knew what was coming as soon as he entered the room. In reality, she’d known this was coming for months, since the day Arl Eamon had revealed his plans to put Alistair on the throne. She should have ended things a long time ago, but she kept putting it off, trying to steal just a little more happiness for both of them before the future came crashing down around them.

“We need to talk,” he said, looking directly at Tigress.

“I know. But not here,” she said, glancing at the group standing around them.

He nodded and turned, exiting the room. She followed him into the hall, closing the door behind her.

Alistair slumped up against the wall, rubbing his hands over his face. “I don’t even know how to begin this. But… being king… that raises some questions about us. About you and me.”

“Shhhh…” said Tigress, reaching up, placing a finger against his lips. “I know.”

He grabbed her hand and kissed her finger before pulling it away from his face. She could see the pain slowly turn to confusion in his eyes.

“But if you knew, why did you—“

“Make you king?” she interrupted. “Because it’s not just about you and me. Or even about the Blight and the Grey Wardens. This is about Ferelden. And Ferelden needs you… more than the Grey Wardens… more than even I do.”

“You’re right,” he said, head bowed in defeat. “By the Maker I wish you weren’t, but you are.”

Her heart broke as she stared at the one bright spot in her life, knowing she was going to have to walk away from it, just as she’d walked away from her clan two years ago. She wasn’t ready for this… not yet! “Let’s just focus on the Blight, and we can deal with the future when it happens. Alright?”

Alistair looked up; his eyes wet with tears as he slowly shook his head. “I can’t… I can’t let this go on. If I don’t do this now… I could see it becoming very hard to tear myself away from you. Impossible even. I’m sorry, I know this is—“

“Don’t,” Tigress said, struggling to keep the tears in check. “Love means…” her voice broke. She swallowed hard, and looked up into the eyes of this shem she’d come to love.

Standing on tiptoe, she leaned up and laid a soft kiss on his lips.

“Love means never having to say you’re sorry,” she whispered before turning and walking away.

The tears flowed freely, sobs wracking her chest so loudly she didn’t hear the footsteps behind her.

“No! You’re wrong,” he said, catching up to her and grabbing her arm, stopping her escape. “Love means trying not to do things you’ll have to apologize for later. And if there’s one thing I know above all else, it’s that I love you.”

Then his lips were on hers. Hard and greedy. After what seemed an eternity, he broke off the kiss and stared at her, his eyes holding a fierceness she’s never seen. “Damn them all! If they way to make me king, so be it. I’ll be their king and do exactly what I want… what we want!”

A smile broke through Tigress’s tears. A devious smile, but a smile nonetheless. “And now that you’re king you presume to know what I want? Is that it?”

“No—no, not at all,” he stammered, all fierceness gone; replaced by the boyish uncertainty that had so charmed her all those months ago. “Don’t you love—that is, do you still want me?”

She laughed. Her heart soaring, so full of love for this shem… this man, before her… the man she had been sure she would lose. “Yes. And yes,” she said, pulling him down for another kiss.

Reika, where did you get that cute armor? I don't know which mod to download for cute armor.

LadyDamodred ...I uninstalled DAO Ultimate and am reinstalling and will just put the IRS standalone on plus of course the compatible mods. It's a pain but I really want all the great fixes that IRS offers. Frankly and my hubby knows this, I'm in love with Alistair, lol. He's my fantasy guy. Even though I pre-ordered DA2, I doubt that any LI will come close to romantic/cute Alistair.

Also, do you all use FRAPS for your images?

@Glor - Thank you. V&S has grown to be waaaay bigger than I ever anticipated. And I understand what you mean about sad writing, I think that's why I try to make my prompt fills on the more humorous side, because so much of my main stuff isn't.

@Tigress - That's incredibly sweet.

Yeah, I fell in love with the underworld armor when I first saw it. I use the optional file of no chain skirt because it irritates me. The Retext mod is great because it adds on a lot of different options.



I think most people go for the full gloves and more decoration, usually silver, but I've seen a few gold.

Alistair never gets mad at me when I kill her. I let her think I'm going to help her, and then when Morrigan tells me to just kill her, I listen(evil laugh). I then make Morrigan my healer. She is actually a very good healer/dmg dealer. She does both awesomely.

I'm myself a spirit healer, so i really don't need her. I just like her, she's like mother hen to me

Also, I like Alistair the way he is, but I also like goatee, so I was just wondering i I should make his darker. I guess I phrased this wrong. The only part member I moded was Leliana, because I like her sacred ashes version, and her in game version always looked kinda durp to me XD Speaking of that...(excuse the ****ty screenshot, I was lazy to use photoshop, so I just used paint) :

Reika, I downloaded all three. I've been looking for some cute armor, but many of them are way over the top. I don't want armor that shows everything my warden has, lol. Definitely don't want Zev to get the wrong idea, lol. I always get a -3 when I tell him that I'm not interested in him. I do wish someone came up with a mod to get rid of Wynne telling Alistair that he'll wake up in her bed. I do return to Ostagar later in the game and even after Wynne gets on your case about your relationship with Alistair, she says that. It was totally out of context (Gaider most likely, lol.)

Yeah, the Underworld armor is sexy without flaunting everything. And I was told that RtO was written more by the folks who did Awakening than DAO (apparently there were some differences in writers).



I generally ignore Wynne's comment, otherwise I'd have to find a way to hurt her.

I sort of use Fraps. For images from cutscenes, I use Fraps to record video and then pull frames from it. For just in-game shots, I just hit print screen.



I don't think you need to uninstall/reinstall the entire game itself. I was just referencing doing that to the mod.

Well unfortunately, I had mods on there that I didn't really like so it's best to have a fresh install anyway. Just waiting impatiently now for the download to finish from EA manager. It's a huge game.

No Wynne isn't being serious but it would bother me if someone said that to my IRL hubby too even in jest.

@Rage re: RtO - I actually did that this playthrough with Celea. I generally do RtO before I start the treaty quests, but I wanted to hear what all the hype was about so I went and recruited Wynne first and then did RtO. Never again. Even with a character that wasn't romantically involved with Alistair yet, hearing her talking about Alistair waking up next to her in the morning was just horrid. I mean come on! This is woman who chastises YOU for sleeping with him and yet she's contemplating doing the same thing. Gah! Yet another reason why I hate Wynne.
