I usually do RtO later in the game after doing the Ashes (I usually do Tower, Redcliffe, Ashes), and by then my Warden has slept with Alistair. The first time I heard that commentary it was very much a WTF moment.

Now I just mimic Alistair and mentally go "lalalala" ;)

Edit: Oi! ToP again.

Tigress, I am so with you. I want to beat the crap out of her. Too bad there isn't a slap Wynne mod, lol. I usually don't bring her with me and I am tempted to not even have her in my party. The only reason I do is to get her side quest of Ainerim (probably spelled incorrectly) but she really is not needed in game.  And Alistair looks to her as a mother figure, huh!

*shrugs* I don't get all the Wynne hate. I see what she does as a distraction tactic more than anything else. We all know the character reactions are all a little OOC in RtO, but it's not hard to mentally tweak it. Alistair is clearly and visibly upset, and Wynne uses it like a distraction tactic.

Oh, I don't hate Wynne. I actually like her, it's just sometimes she can get a person's nerves.

And you know, that does work as a distraction tactic, but not a well thought one. :)

LadyD, I actually like Wynne. In fact I think she's...well...I won't say it because last time I did got me put into dresses. But for some reason I am just in a pick on Wynne mood. Last playthrough before Di I was in a pick on Oghren mood.

I don't hate her. I really like her until she says that, lol. Most of the time I don't take her in RTO but I figured that we were out so why not. I usually take Wynne and leave Morrigan at camp because Morrigan nets you negatives when do something she doesn't like which is usually anything good hearted.

Oh and my Dalish elf didn't want to burn Cailan.  She wanted to bury him and plant a tree over his body.

I just think it's a little disrespectful to the Warden and she (or the writers) thinks because she is old we should let it slide. Imagine if Lel or Morigan said that, there would be a cat fight.

I think I'm the only one who hates her... and even I won't kill her so I guess it's not a huge hate. I just get really tired of her preachy-ness. It was okay the first five or six times I played, but over time it just kinda wore on me. *Shrugs*

Seval - Yeah, as much as I like Morrigan, I don't really use her much because my natural gameplay tendencies don't mesh with Morrigan at all.

I'll put it this way, I have a friend who says that if he's trying to play a paragon in either of the Mass Effect games, he'll think about how I would handle the situation. :)

I don't disagree that she can get on your nerves. Most companions do at one point or another.

*looks at Leliana with her elves*

As far as it not being a well thought out on, well, it works. Alistair ends up completely distracted. And she's clearly not malicious or anything. I am far less bothered by what she says to Alistair than by Morrigan or sometimes Sten.

I agree with you there.  I love RTO because it nets you quite a bit of experience but I hate Wynne's comment.

Yeah, Leliana and elves... that's an interesting mix and the first time I started talking to her on my CEF, I wanted to slap her. Sorry Rage.

Honestly Morrigan and Sten's comments don't bother me, because I expect it from those characters.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that's the point.  The Warden has no reason to be jealous of Wynne, whereas Morrigan or Leliana saying that to Alistair would have a completely different connotation.

For instance, the Leliana/Zevran banter where Leliana tells him to drop his pants...let's just say my Wardens would be extremely displeased if they were romancing him and heard that.  Wynne's comments aren't meant to be taken seriously.

I find Leliana's attitude's when  talking about elves to elves to be downright insulting.  And Morrigan's and Sten's comments bother me more because they are designed to insult and hurt Alistair.  Wynne's are not.  They're said out of affection.

If I'm beating a dead horse, I apologize.

True but the entire thing really doesn't work because Alistair barely knew Cailan and RTO should have focused on Duncan who was like a father to Alistair.  It would have been far more of an impact, if RTO focuses on Duncan and the fire and the joining chalice.  My warden stands near Duncan's fire and wishes Duncan was still alive.  She really doesn't care about Cailan.

*high five*

It also depends on the Warden I'm playing. Lenya likes her...but is getting more and more annoyed of her preachy-ness, especially when she is rambling on what to do and what not. Nevertheless is Wynne a person she respects...if Lenya want to

Duncan's fire? They don't find his body. Or are you just imagining that they do so you can have a proper reason to be sad while Cailan's burning?

No I meant where Duncan's fire pit was.  My DE warden would have buried Cailan and planted a tree but they didn't have that option.

So pretend Alistair is upset about Duncan. It's what I do. I also think seeing Cailan freaks Alistair out a little. And even so, Wynne's comments would still have the same purpose and impact.

I don't think you are. I've taken Leliana to the Denerim Alienage all of once, after her comment about seeing an Alienage, it just left me cold. And I like Leli, she usually ends up something of a bff to my Warden, but her attitude with elves... Ugh.

And I may have used a poor choice of words, some of their comments do bother me, but it's not the ones specific to Alistair. It's their comments in general, particularly when trying to do something nice.

True again, but Alistair doesn't even mention Duncan during RTO. It is definitely a broken DLC.

Oh I have a problem with Lel and elfs.  She really ticked off my Dalish warden when she went on and on about elfs being servants.  Uggh, but I play as a rogue elf so I don't need her to go with me everywhere.  Now Wynne, I take most places even though she does tick me off with that comment in RTO because she is like a mother to the entire group except for maybe Sten.

I have to say that the Dalish origin made me cry.  It was so sad for my warden to have to leave her people.  She was very much loved.  You could tell that more so than even HN origin.

Cailan was Andrastian. It would have been disrespectful to bury him, especially when his brother wanted to burn him in their tradition. And regardless of how well Alistair knew Calian, that is still his brother's body hung on display, and that of his king. Not saying there shouldn't have been more about Duncan, there should have been, but finding Calian was hardly meaningless to Alistair. Especially given how much they look alike. Seeing someone who looks so much like yourself dead and essentially crucified would be troubling.
