Tigress: Yeah, the first character I ran totally jumped his bones, but she wasn't really an RP. So far, the others have let him make the first move. But Kalea? Oh no, not that little vixen.

Ok, really?  *hunts for pic*  Sort of on topic.  Hello, Kalea.

Yeah, he does. I usually go for the "Oh thanks a lot" line, because his reaction to that is amusing.

@Tupp - Was it you (forgive me for being too lazy to go digging back through the thread) that got Alistair's exploding head dialog after you'd already invited him to your tent?
Celea got that delightful scene this afternoon. I have to say, having never had a Warden take the initiative in tent time before, I regret having missed out on so much good dialog for the past year. You just get a double dose of goodness from him since he's full of delicious lines when you ask him (assuming he's at adore, that is) and then you get the "normal" sweating scene with him once he reaches Love.
I'm sooooooooo doing this again with future Wardens. I think it will quite a few playthroughs to get tired of this:
*snip*

I don't think that was me, Tigress.  Although I've had so many odd things happen in so many of my games that I'm not certain.  =]

RUROH RELROY!

Ok!! Was gone for a while but now I am back. Like many of you guys feel. I don't think I will ever be as obessed withDA 2 like I am with Origins. I think that even while I play the sequel, I'm still gonna be lookin at this post and fan fic for Origins. I really have not seen anyone in Part two that makes me squeal like my Aly poo!! Squeeee!! Oh. I work at GameStop and all anyone ever wants to buy are a bunch of FPS and B-Ball. Anytime i mention DA:O I get a lot of, "they talk to much, or it's too hard". It irritates me so much!!!!

BEGIN RAGE RANT:

I can not stand hearing people whine or complain about Dragon Age Origins or what an RPG is. I heard this at a local Best Buy this Christmas season:

I may get this: picks up Dragon Age

LOL come on that game was LAME! So much talking!

Then he puts it down and moves on after picking up ANOTHER Call of Duty clone from the shelves.

I just cant stand hearing people get upset over actually having to talk to people or you know THINK in a game. I know people who complain about having to actually talk to people more than once, and getting annoyed at people getting pissy about them two timing them.

See the multiple threads here about people wondering why a LI wont let them have a threesome!

I was invested in Dragon Age like few games have ever done, but now I am left wondering what is happening to gaming as a whole. Is it simply becoming: Press A for AWESOME! where I can get instant gratification for no input? All to make COD kiddies happy because they found Origins to hard?

I will wait till I play it but more and more Bioware seems to be saying with Dragon Age 2:

Its okay little children, we wont let those big mean RPG mechanics hurt you!

We dont want you stressed over having to RP a charachter or have NPCs dare to question you!

Here comes insta awesome movie Hawke to make you a SPARTAN BADASS! L33T!

I may be quite wrong here and DA2 may be mind blowing but ME2 was a let down and so far DA2 is sounding like: Dragon Effect 2: AWESOMENESS AMPED UP!

Although I shudder to say it I dont want my game casualized to include players who simply want a movie like experience to kill off any RPG for any one else like ME2. But I mean who plays Dwarves and Elves anyway humans are where it is at!

Also that rage rant was totally my opinion, and you can call me out on it or think me a nutty loon who is mad that Bioware is not making BG or DA anymore and trying to make a better game. If by better you mean more spandex bound cleavage showing, one liner ridden, linear action fest with no real depth to it then yes it seems that DA2 is indeed better.

Just like that I am done.

There I said it I feel better.

Working with kids, I have to offer the opinion that the lack of imagination in the current generation is troubling. Some of my best gaming moments have come from paper and pencil D&D sessions and it's sad that for some reason RP like that (and in DA) has been stymatized. And I see so many kids who are simply incapable of playing a game like that. I don't know why, either, because kids who should have awesome imaginations don't. And so many adults (and god don't even get me started with my coworkers *rages and flails*) cannot understand what makes games like appealing.

I realize I'm rambling a bit. Sorry.

I love DA for the exact reasons the common masses hate it. It's a story-driven game that puts your character in the center of it all. As you progress, your decisions affect everyone (and everything!) around you. Best of all, the game begs for replays rather than most of the "one and done" titles out there.

Let those who don't "get it" continue to do so. I think of DA as an acquired taste and I, for one, am extremely happy that I acquired it. :)

If I'd gone the route of the game for the first night together in my fanfic, she totally would've, if not given him more flack. Because that's how things tend to play out between them. :D

@Giggles - Your rant is exactly my fears for DA2. I sorta enjoyed ME2, but some of it had me rolling my eyes.

I've got a couple of old friends (who definitely aren't kids) from my WoW guild.  I tried to get them interested in DA:O and they actually bought it and tried it out and hated it because there's too much talking.  One of them is a usually sweet 50 year old woman who said she just wants to KILL THINGS, and she got bored by all the dialogue.

*shrug*  Fine.  It's her loss.  I've finally stopped being active at their forum because they (the fanatical WoW players) said I was turning into a geek for liking DA.

I sure hope that doesn't come true!  It doesn't seem like something Gaider would put up with, but I don't know if he has enough power to stop it.

I'm not going to let myself get worked up about it.  I'm still happily playing DA:O :)

What can I say...

I rant its this thing I do.

Imagination is key to Dragon Age with it my PCs became unique and important people to me, ones who had dreams, hopes, and quirks.

ME2 killed any sense of attachment or imagination and after my 14 run I can never touch it again. Dragon Age is getting at least 26 runs out of me before it is done, but I want to do so many more.

My PCs have gone between the evil Blood Mage Everd (inspired around Eago from Othello) all the way to Bob the nutty DC. DA made everything feel connnected and I fear more then anything else the DA2 will kill that for cheasy one liners and button mashing to please the LCD of gamers.

It's the exact same reason that Giggles and Mage pointed out.  A lot of games out there have the typical no-thinking-required objectives with one-time-play-only appeal, and most adults, unfortunately, are given than impression that all games are like that.  I'm on the same boat in terms of finding it frustrating that most adults would immediately dismiss games and gamers calling it a waste of time.  I have a co-worker who rolled her eyes at me when I eagerly mentioned DAO and in her patronizing tone asked, "aren't you a little too old for games?  That's a little silly don't you think?"  To my immediate response, "well, I can say the same thing about your obssession with Edward Cullen." Agreed.

I am currently playing Mount & Blade, and it's so open ended that it gives a lot of space for imagination and I adore it.  You can imagine the story of your character and play accordingly in so many different ways that it's astounding.

You should see me throw down with the older kids over Twilight. The kids find it hilarious.

Shortly after I got DA, I was talking to a teacher about it (because she asked) and she asked me how old I was. I said 29. She goes, and I quote, "Almost 30, Val. Gonna have to stop playing video games soon."

Give up video games?

My dad is a 46 year old Air Force Major who plays RTS games.

My Mom plays racing games better then I do.

Video games are a medium for anyone young or old to enjoy I hate it when it gets called:

Kid toys.

I'm in my mid 30's, had a coworker who is around my age that obsesses over that series and tried to get me to read because she knows I like sci-fi and fantasy. Um, yeah, decently written sci-fi and fantasy. That kind of stuff would've made me turn up my nose when I was in my teens.

I felt like Witch Hunt was just an ad for DA2.

Change is coming! People fear it! But they need it! Even if they fight it with all their being!

When I was in my mid-twenties I still had a fairly extensive board game collection. One day my dad said something to the effect of "aren't you a little old to still be playing games?"

I looked at him and said, "Would you prefer I be out all night, smoking, drinking and sleeping around?"

The subject was never brought up again. Can't imagine why. Image IPB

I tried reading the first book, but I don't think I made it past the first chapter.  It was boring!  If I'm going to watch vampires, I prefer True Blood.

And Alistair to keep on topic.

My dad is 56 and he loves playing fighter simulators lol. But only that game and he isn't what we would call a "gamer". But still.

I still have to get over the fact that he can play a video game, he always seemed very serious and strict when I was a kid (but for some reason changed. Reverse midlife crisis?)
