Whatever happened to the fierce Dalish elves that got so feared by humans?
I'm sorry, but since when did the Dalish looked fierce in Origins? They may be cool and everything (and fearsome according to the lore), but honestly they don't LOOK fierce at all.
Lanaya, Mithra, Cammen, Athras, Sarel, Zathrian, Gheyna, Tamlen... fearsome? Nah. Cute? Some of them where. Hell, I find your Lenya's face more cute than fearsome to be honest (whatever her personality may be).

If the wanted scary they should have added natural materials to their clothing and face paint or something.
As it is they look like well short hippies.

Lenya and Alistair doesn't either.

Lenya *hums in her mind* I'm gonna kill all, all of them. Lalala :innocent:
As for the fearsome...well somewhere they got to have their reputation from after all. (TST, maybe, I really liked the bits of the elves in there) I have never seen a human wanting to pinch their cheeks because they are cuuuuuuuute
And for Lenya being not the bold, scarred elf that turns everyones eyes into bloody mush at sight, well that's good that way.
And while we are at this I hate the horned Qunari as well. <_<
*repeats to herself* THE STORY WILL BE WORTH IT, THE STORY WILL BE WORTH IT, THE STORY WILL BE WORTH IT...
However we both will never agree on that subject, so it is better to leave it be.

Sitting around in a forest cursing and hating humans for an act SOME did thousands of years ago, and wondering why people dont like you if you never stop to say hi anywhere.
Also them wiping out a whole group of people because they knew they would not be let alone was pathetic. OMG people dont like us lets go kill em first!
Sorry but they are no more scary then any other group that sits around hating other people and not doing anything with their lives except run through the trees singing I HATE HUMANS.

@Rage - You win the scary contest, alright! I would not want to tangle with your Dalish.

What would you have them do? Even the ones that try to reach out like the DE's father can be betrayed and killed by fellow elves AND humans. They can't integrate into normal society without being treated like the CEs are. It's not just that they're obsessed with the past as much as they see the continued oppression as just another in a very long line of human transgressionsn against us (regardless of their own actions). They haven't forgotten and some haven't forgiven but the continued actions of humans have given them little reason to.Sitting around in a forest cursing and hating humans for an act SOME did thousands of years ago, and wondering why people dont like you if you never stop to say hi anywhere.
I don't think the Dalish are frightening in and of themselves. Large groups can kill isolated humans and trained hunters can take down some unarmed explorers like in the opening but it's more their reputation as being wild folk who don't follow the law of the land and just about the only elves around who travel armed. The idea of arming an oppressed people will ALWAYS terrify the oppressors.

(TST, maybe, I really liked the bits of the elves in there) I have never seen a human wanting to pinch their cheeks because they are cuuuuuuuute*is weirded out* That "cute elf in my pocket I want to screw her"- image BW now is distributing with the new design is downward creepy to me. Seriously.
And for Lenya being not the bold, scarred elf that turns everyones eyes into bloody mush at sight, well that's good that way.I made her look young... because she is that, period (nineteen to be exact). Still she is looking like an young adult. I have a massive problem with the fact that female elves have to have the look of a fourteen years old doll now with big eyes, little noses and a round face with a pouty mouth, so that it screams cuuuuuute even to the blind ones. Barf.
And while we are at this I hate the horned Qunari as well. <_<

Ah, wonderful. Now I'm blind. Thanks for letting me know.
I should post an update saying "Zjarcal is a blind sycophant". <_<
Now I understand why Yuki doesn't post here that much anymore.
This I can agree with, that they are fearsome because of the way of life they carry, not because of how they look.Sarah1281 wrote...

Umm....nooo?
Why do you see an insult where none is? Sigh, I guess I can't win here, right? Never mind I don't have to.
Anyway, I was trying to say with it that this redone of Merrill (because I can't speak of the other FE right now) had been made so blatantly and obviously pink candy cuuute that I feel the need to throw up. Repeatedly. It's like looooook we gave her biiiiig eeeeeeyes and allll that, isn't she aaaaadooorable and cuuuuute now? in big blinking letters and this is what is a huge nuisance to me. But so are the horned qunari, MHawke's monotone voice and the two boobs with some Isabella on it. At this rate only the story keeps me wanting to somewhat play that game.

Besides, no one's as fearsome as my Roque "Dickbutt" Cousland

Even the darkspawn would run away from this beauty. XD
Also, who wants to help me spam this page with Ali? I'll start us off ...:

Meril & Sky, I think your Dalish are very pretty. No, I don't think they don't look anymore fierce than the elf in Zjarcal's avatar. The only difference is that the DA2 Merrill has a dopey expression on her face, which she also had in Origins. And maybe some people consider that cute. And Rage, in my eyes your Dalish cannot look fierce with those sweet puppy dog eyes. We all see things differently. Why is this wrong? Why all this grief?
You know ... I edited a promo for an actress years ago, and I had the same thing happen. I thought the scene was very strong, but the angry actress pointed out that her blouse was bunched up and it looked like she had one big deformed breast. I didn't even notice that because I was looking at the scene and her acting. I posted at cme's group that Gaider had said something similar and I was willing to take his word, and it was pointed out that people who would say things like that are sycophants. It feels like lines are being drawn here, and there's some kind of battle going on.
Are we all supposed to agree that the little we have seen is proof that this game is going to totally suck, and it's stupid to want to stay positive? Sure, there is possibility that most of us will end up hating it. But there's no way of knowing that until it comes out, and there's nothing we can do about it right now, even if we did know it for fact. Personally, I'd like to hold on to some hopes that DA2 will be something that I enjoy. And I'd like to enjoy playing Origins while I wait. I just wish that those who already aggressively hate DA2 wouldn't be so disparaging of those of us who would like to keep an open mind.
An attempt to try to stay on topic - an Alistair picture mirroring my mood right now.

If you like Merril, great. I happen to like what I see of Sebastian & Cassandra - I know that there are others who do not. When we voice our opinions it is not to disparage those with different opinions. Like I said, we just want our voice heard as well.
Alistair Sim for some topicness

I happen to dislike almost everything I have heard about DA2 and little has been done to help that. Others are free to chose what they want and I am fine with that.

Me too. Of course, I haven't gone near the DA2 boards so all I've heard is what people have been complaining about here...and about Varric's chest hair.Giggles_Manically wrote...
