I'm actually feeling a little better about DA2 this week, oddly enough. I liked some of the things I saw in the latest dev diary, especially the shots of femHawke in mage clothing that was (hark!) neither ****ty nor ridiculous. Also the fact that they said this game was lore-heavy, as opposed to earlier hype about it being action-y. It's marketing and probably they are leading me by the nose and have me right where they want me- about ready to pay top dollar- but what can I say. Gaider's evil blood magic strikes again. I'm reserving judgment (mostly) about the elven redesign until I see more.

As the person who first used the sycophant term, I would like to respond.  Some of us are stoked for DA2, some of us are worried, and some of us are just meh.  I was in the meh group until I played ME2, now I'm very worried.  I don't think any of us in the later 2 groups hold any animosity towards people who are happy about DA2.  We do, however want to make our voices heard on the chance that if we are vocal enough, maybe we can influence the game in a direction that we would prefer.   I in no way ment to infer that if you liked the the direction of DA2, or that if you were trying to be optimistic about DA2, that you were a sycophant.  My point was that just because DG says something, it shouldn't be believed as gospel.  He says, "no, no you are not seeing what you are seeing, despite the fact that you are clearly seein that".   The they go and give Isabella a face lift and tell you, "See - it was like that all along, you were just perceiving things incorrectly".    I don't appreciate that lack of respect, and I'm not going to beleive what comes down from the powers that be without questioning it.

If you like Merril, great.  I happen to like what I see of Sebastian & Cassandra - I know that there are others who do not.  When we voice our opinions it is not to disparage thosewith different opinions.  Like I said, we just want our voice heard as well.

I've got no problems with people wanting their voices heard and maybe it can do some good, if good needs to be done.  I just think the place for those voices is the DA2 section. 

Personally, I'm not a DA2 lover or hater.  I don't really want to know about it until the game is finished.  I want to be surprised.  I purposely don't go over to that section for that reason.  I didnt even know who Sebastian or Cassandra are.  But ever since that damn video came out, that's pretty  much all I've heard.   

I've never played ME or ME2.  I don't have a long history with Bioware games.  So far, Gaider has never given me reason to assume he's lying to me or trying to make excuses.  Maybe I'm naive.  But until I get burned, I tend to believe people.  If I end up hating DA2 and it turns out the things he's saying now are lies, then he goes on my Grain of Salt list.  But right now, he's saying Merrill's top is bunched up.  I know from experience that can happen and not be noticed by the editor (see my post above).  I'll wait and see what she looks like when I get the game.

I wasn't trying to say people who are unhappy with what they are seeing should not voice their opinions.  Everyone needs a place to vent, even if it won't do any good in any of the Origins threads or groups.  It's just nice to be able to talk to people about it.  I just hope that, after expressing their anger or worry, people can either let it go or move it to the DA2 section where it might do some good.   And that, if others have conflicting opinions, they aren't made to feel they are dumb or blind or sycophants or whatever.  And posting with a lot of CAPS and italics tends to make it seem like people are yelling.  Meril, there's something like 7 weeks left before the game comes out.  If you continue being this upset for that long, you're gonna burst a blood vessel or something.

I pre-ordered 2 copies.  I'll play it because I love the genre unlike ME3 which I won't play if Bioware was leading all of us Kaidan fans on and not have Kaidan in it.  I'm not pre-ordering that, well might for my son, but not for me.  I'm letting him play if first then I'll if it's worth playing.  I do hope they put Anders in DA2.  I'm probably one of the few who really liked his personality.

I think what Tupp is trying to say (and forgive me, Tupp, if I'm wrong) is that everyone is welcome to express their opinions but it would be nice if we could keep DA2 conversations in the DA2 forums so that those of us who do not wish to know things about DA2 until we play it, aren't inundated with all this talk about it.

To be perfectly blunt, the Alistair Gush thread is probably the last place devs are going to look for opinions on DA2 since it's soooooooo huge. So, if that's the goal here, maybe those who wish to discuss DA2 would be better served doing so in the proper forum.

Haha, maybe I'm a blood magic in all secret...*blood wound* Y'know reason I get so worked up about that tiny piece is because that tiny piece is about the Dalish. Anyway I surmise I won't like that game much and play it once just like ME2, if at all. But well *shrug* there are many playthroughs of DA:O I still have to make and not to forget that monster of fanfiction I seem to write for the rest of my life. So I'll be busy either way, even if I'm the last person to stay in this forum, while all the others are already fawning over DA2.

Hey at least that makes me unique. lol.

Heh, Ill be with DAO even after DA2 is out as well. I have only beaten it once, and I want to get many more runs in. I lurve the game way too much.

And yet paradoxically, if they had any sense, it would be the first place they should look because a game character inspiring such devotion and especially among women must be somewhat exceptional.  Alistair is a great example of how to get it right.

It's in the pre-tent dialogue and I believe only when Ali initiates.  You can ask him something like "even though I'm not human?" and he answers "especially because of that."

Can't speak for Giggles, but I know some people don't like it b/c it makes it sound like he's got a fetish for non-humans.  Also because there is indication that human men are attracted to elven women so there's some creep factor (think, Vaughn).  I don't read it that way and it never bothered me.  I think he could be making a joke about humans not being all that.  Even if he does mean he's got a thing for elves, I don't see it as "wrong."  You know that Alistair isn't creepy, that he's got a good heart, so even if he's got a thing for elven chicks, it's no big deal.

Im going to look for that line in my city elf run. I remember Zevran saying how humans liked elves because they are lithe and slender or something. I wouldnt be too surprised if Alistair liked them, we know his dad had a thing for an elf.

All of the things that were said today have been being discussed for months in the DA2 forum, and there are threads about all. It might be a good idea to keep DA2 to the DA2 board to avoid what's going on there from being repeated here. At least most of us are united in liking Alistair.
