@ Meri - You're welcome!  I hope you get out of the creative slump soon

Yeah, me too. I really need to get back to my FF and all that. I have a total writers block. Gah. :pinched:
@Lady D. No luck with your savegames so far?

Nice prompts, everyone. (As said I'm not very creative in feedback, so I give a general shoutout.)

I don't know.  I have a feeling it might be linked to before I installed some mods, namely TWF.  So since I don't know for sure, my safest bet seems to be to go back to before I installed it at all.  And that's 17 hours ago.  Before Orzammar.

My 13th playthrough is complete. Here is an ending shot.

I took plenty of screenshots so I can do a desktop folder. It's time to play through Awakening with my two characters, femCousland (in the shot) and Dalish elf female.

Oh. OUCH. Poor dear, that sucks. Hard.

Especially because it is...well Orzammar *whimpers* The Deep Roads are not only annoying but caused me that frikkin writers block. So I ought to hate them even more now. <_<

What is TWF btw? I make sure to never install it, cough.

13th playthrough? Wow I have....five so far. But great pic. I need to play a HNF too someday. It is piled....err filed under my to-do list for the playthroughs, which is fairly long with all the mods I still have to try. Dark times, companion mod etc.

Yeah I never will get finished with that game. But it fits to my FF, which is the same, lol.

The Winter Forge. I don't know for sure, though. But when I uninstalled it, it left behind a bunch of invisibly objects. It's my only idea as to why it's borked.

Actually, let me see if the Landsmeet will trigger on another character and make sure everything's fine there.

Oh my, that's very bad.  It might be another mod.  Hrm.  Or, my game is completely f*cked.

Winter Forge did that for me, too.  I didn't have major problems, but occasionally the invisible objects create a barrier.

I'm having a major bug due to the Dark Promise mod, that nice cutscene with Morrigan.  I de-installed the mod, but now when my PCs run out of the room after talking to Riordan, Alistair, Morrigan and my PC are in a dead space zone with nowhere to go.

Mother

Alistair had always sort of figured that the best day of his life would be something that he would have to decide years into the future – perhaps at the end of his life – and that would require a lot of careful thought. In practice, he was twenty and hopefully nowhere near the end of his life but he still knew without a doubt that today was the best he had ever or would ever have.

It wasn’t like he had had a bad life, far from it. He was a bastard whose father had no interest in him and whose mother was long dead so he could have easily just been thrown out on the streets somewhere and expected to make his own way in the world but that hadn’t happened, not at all. He had spent the first ten years of his life with Arl Eamon in Redcliffe and then when Isolde became pregnant he had spent the next ten years in the Chantry training to be the world’s worst templar. It was a dubious honor, to be sure, but he firmly believed that it took talent to be just that horrible at being a templar. He had all the right skills, of course, he just had the wrong everything else. He wasn’t reverent enough, his sense of humor offended the others, he lacked a sufficient fear of mages, he might have called the bottom of the templar uniform a skirt in the Grand Cleric’s hearing…he and the Chantry really weren’t a very good fit.

Today, though…today he had been told that by the Warden-Commander Duncan that he had a place among the Grey Wardens if he wanted one and while he didn’t know much about the order he knew that it had to be better than this. If he fell in love with a beautiful woman one day, if he had a five children, if he was finally seen as something other than King Maric’s by blow then he knew that it would all be thanks to today when he would leave the Chantry and so it couldn’t possibly be greater than this day.

“Absolutely not,” the Grand Cleric said flatly.

Alistair stared at her, aghast. “What? But that’s not fair! I-”

Duncan put a hand on his shoulder. “Let me handle this,” he said softly.

Reluctantly, Alistair nodded. Maker knew that the Grand Cleric hated him so Duncan would probably have more luck. He would have thought that the Grand Cleric would be jumping at the chance to get rid of him so why was she being so surprisingly difficult? Was she that possessive of her Chantry personnel? It wasn’t like Alistair had even wanted to be here in the first place, he just had little choice as a ten-year-old whose guardian dropped him off. He hadn’t signed anything, however, and he certainly hadn’t made any vows.

“With all due respect, your Grace, the Grey Wardens need recruits,” Duncan told her. “The darkspawn have begun to move and, though it is too soon to tell, a Blight may be coming. We have to be ready.”

“Ignoring the fact that the darkspawn haven’t plagued the surface in over four hundred years, I hardly see what that has to do with the matter at hand,” the Grand Cleric replied curtly. “Surely you can deal with this possible Blight or incursion without Alistair.”

“We could,” Duncan agreed. “But if everyone said that then we would have no Wardens at all.”

“ ‘Everyone’ is not saying that,” the Grand Cleric said sharply. “I am and my objections must be given greater consideration than most.”

“But of course,” Duncan assured her. “Perhaps you could tell me why it is that you object to Alistair becoming a Grey Warden?”

“It’s not the boy specifically,” the Grand Cleric explained. “Maker knows what kind of a templar he would be.”

“Then what’s the problem?” Duncan pressed. “Surely it cannot be that you did not want a member of the Chantry to become a Grey Warden as you did hold a tournament for my benefit.”

“That is true,” the Grand Cleric conceded. “But it’s not quite the same. Unlike the others, Alistair has been right on the verge of becoming a templar for months now. He knows nearly all of our secrets and yet he hasn’t taken his vows. If we were to let him go, our most sacred secrets would be at risk. The Chantry is not prepared to have all of our secrets laid out to bear.”

“I can assure you that the Grey Wardens know something about the importance of secrets,” Duncan was quick to tell her. “And we wouldn’t dream of trying to start problems with the Chantry by publicizing any sensitive information.”

“It’s all well and good enough for you to say that,” the Grand Cleric argued. “But I hardly know you and this would be one of the biggest security breaches we’ve ever had. I know that I said that you could have your pick of the templars but you simply cannot have Alistair.”

Alistair’s heart plummeted. He had long since resigned himself to a life of misery in the Chantry but still…he had almost let himself believe that it could be different, that he could have a new life, a better life. Somehow, coming so close only to fall short at the end was so much harder than never allowing himself to believe at all.

“I’m sorry,” Duncan said quietly.

Alistair simply nodded miserably, not really having anything to say.

Then Duncan continued. “Your Grace, I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this.”

That made her suspicious. “Wouldn’t come to what, exactly?”

“Normally I would respect your wishes no matter what Alistair might want but there are extenuating circumstances – including this darkspawn threat – to consider and so I’m afraid that I’m going to have to invoke the Rite of Conscription. Alistair is coming with me,” Duncan said firmly.

Alistair couldn’t believe it. First he was going, then he wasn’t, now he was going again. This emotional up-and-down couldn’t possibly be good for him but at that moment he really didn’t care. It was true after all! He was going to get to escape from this horrid place!

Alistair glanced back at the Grand Cleric and for a moment he thought that she was going to have Duncan arrested. Her face was white with rage and her nails were digging into her palms hard enough to draw blood.

Alistair felt terrible. He really hadn’t meant to get Duncan into trouble. He opened his mouth to tell them that it was fine and that he would stay with the Chantry when the Grand Cleric spoke again.

“Promise me, Alistair, that you will not ever share the secrets you’ve been taught or the templar skills that you have learned with anyone no matter how great you think the need is,” the Grand Cleric ordered.

Alistair wasn’t about to question his good fortune. “Y-yes, you Grace. Of course.”

Prompt: Mother ( probably not want the OP wanted but this what came to my head ) :)

Alistair paced around the room as Fergus and Teagan played cards. Suddenly the door opened and Leliana came in smiling.
“Is she alright?”
“Elissa is fine Alistair. Come see your children.”
Alistair looked at Fergus and Teagan then back at Leliana.
“Children?” He gulped.
“You have a son and a daughter.”
“Twins?” Alistair suddenly felt lightheaded. Teagan and Fergus rushed to his side to keep him steady.
“Twins.”
Alistair still remembered the shock he felt when Elissa told him she was expecting. It was supposed to be difficult for a Warden to conceive and now the Maker has blessed him with not one but two children.
“Congratulations Brother!” Fergus said as he embraced Alistair.
“This is wonderful news!” Teagan hugged Alistar. “I shall get the announcement out at once.”
“Thank you, Teagan.” Alistair said as Leliana took his hand and led him to the room.
Elissa was sitting up in bed holding a baby in her arms. Wynne was holding the other baby.
“So tell me Leliana did Alistair faint?”
“He almost did.” Leliana laughed.
Alistair rushed to her side and kissed her. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I knew it would make you nervous and worry and when that happens, you tend to babble your Majesty.” Elissa smiled.
Alistair laughed. She was right. He was a nervous wreck then they had married and practically tripped over dress.
“Come hold your son.” Wynne handed him the bundle that felt warm and wiggled in his arms. He looked at the small face gazing up at him and marveled to see he had his eyes.
“Duncan. Duncan Theirin. But what about our daughter?” Alistair reached over and touched the face of his little girl. “What shall we call her?”
“I already thought of that. I wanted a strong name for her so I decided to combine two names after my mother and Kallian.”
Alistair’s eyes widened with surprise.
"Why look so surprised? Did you think I was going to forget Kallian? She saved me from that dungeon cell Alistair. You both did."
"I don't know what to say."

“Alistair, our daughter’s name is Kalielle. Kalielle Theirin.”
“That is a beautiful name.” Alistair wiped the tears from eyes. “Duncan and Kalielle.”
“Lets leave the parents alone for a bit.” Wynne took Leliana’s hand and followed the physician out the door.
The sound of a bell broke the silence.
“What’s that?”
“I think that’s part of the birth announcement.” He smiled. “You do realize once you recover, we’ll have to make an appearance on the balcony."
"I look forward to it. I...never thought I would be a mother after what happened to me."
"And I never thought I'd be a father," Alistair kissed her cheek as he got in bed beside her.

Nope, the issue isn't TWF. My game is borked. No matter which save I use or which character, I'm loading into the Landsmeet Chamber and can't trigger the Landsmeet. Oh god.

Okay. Okay, don't panic. Question for those who've had this issue: If I uninstall and reinstall my game, and just dump my character files and mods back in, am I likely to have the same issue?

Aww, nice idea. Sarah. I really liked the story of Alistair's recruiting ^^
So does that mean when I have installed the Dark ritual mod, that I can't erase it again without to break my game? That's...err... ugh That is the reason I haven't tried the "improved atmosphere" mod, so far. I'm really afraid that it will f*ck up all my save games.

What is the matter LD? Can I comfort you with some Alistair dancing at least? A pity that this video is so short *drools*

Edit: Okay, I have read your post now. That sucks but sorry can't help you with that D:

Good that I was too lazy to install TWF the one time I wanted to. Oh how I love Mods that breaks everything. :pinched:

The matter is I cannot trigger the Landsmeet on any character. I think I have to reinstall my game. Ok. I can deal with that. My question is, if I do that, and then just put my saved character files back in, will I have this issue again?

I have tons of mods and don't have any problems with them. Dark Ritual causes no problems on my pc. There are mods that I don't have like Atmosphere because it conflicts with IRS (improved romance scenes) which I love but never heard of DR bugging the game.

Lady D, I don't know if re-installing will fix the issue or not, sorry. What mods did you have? I am having a similar issue with the camp ghoul attack not triggering in camp. Maybe if we compare mods we can figure out what did it...if it's caused by the same thing.

Erm, the mods I have is quite a long list. The ones I removed, the main ones were the character respect v1.6, TWF, WCLA, a couple official ones.

Starting fresh should fix the issue, but I don't want to lose what I have. I really should cull my mod list, but I'm afraid of losing some things I have that are poorly labeled. Like Carys's tats. They're custom, but I don't know the file names. Does anyone know what extension tat files have?

uh_tat_justdarth1b_0t.dds ...that's one of the tattoo files I have and the others I have are similar named. So you have to search for the .dds files, that are the tattoos. Ir basically everything that is named: Uh_tat" ...hope that helps.

Would it work with reinstalling TWF again for the time being? Or is it ultimately broken now?

Another question...for tmp's pants...do I have to uninstall the NB-mods to make the pants work? Because I can imagine that they are conflicting, right?

I've tried putting that and the other mods back in. No dice. And the problem is occuring on saves that didn't have the force load issue.

I'm fine with reinstalling, I just need to know if I can dump the files back in.

LadyD et al: appearance mods most likely are not the cause. Mods that use scripting would be the culprit like companion mods like Ser Gilmore, extension mods like DT or Castle Cousland. These are the types of mods that would trigger the bugs you are talking about. Tattoo mods are just texture files that would have little bearing on an area triggering or not.

I have a lot of prompts to read which I promise to get to, momentarily.  In the meantime... those so inclined can trudge through my novella.  :pinched:

Prompt:  Mother

Surprises

Celea spent her morning in the garden. It was her favorite place in the palace, with its spicy scents from the herbs along the north wall to the riot of colors from the flowers along the east. The gardeners had grown used to having her about, patiently teaching her all manner of things. And, although she’d never been near the soil until recent years, there being no gardens in the tower, she was a quick study, much to delight of her teachers.

Normally, she would be by Alistair’s side, as one of his many advisors, but today, like had been happening so often lately, the audiences seeking a word with the king did not require her presence. In fact, her attending him during these meetings would be quite awkward considering those being presented to the king were all potential brides and their noble families.

There were countless times in the past year that she wished she had arranged a marriage between Alistair and Anora – better to deal with the demon you know than the one you don’t. This seemingly endless parade of nubile young noblewomen affected her more than she had imagined, but she dared not let her discomfort show. If Alistair ever found out how she felt, he’d either refuse to consider marrying or he’d send her away in a vain attempt to keep her from future pain.

“Mistress,” said one of the maids, bustling along the path. “Best get in and cleaned up, m’lady. Lunch will be served shortly.”

Celea rose from the flowerbed she’d been tending, brushing the dirt out of he skirt as best she could as she followed the maid back up the path and in through the kitchens.

“Could you believe the resemblance? There’s no doubt as to her parentage. Now I know where she gets her beauty from.” Alistair’s words coming from the dining room were like icicles, sending chilling slivers of pain into her gut. “Stand them side by side and I would venture one couldn’t tell which was which.”

“I’m sure you could tell them apart, your majesty. You’ve spent enough time looking at the one, I imagine.” Those icicles turned into boiling steam coursing through her veins at
Teagan’s reply.

She couldn’t take another step towards that dining room. Not like this. So she turned and fled up the servants stairs to their chambers. Upon reaching the bedroom, she shooed the servants out and stood in the middle of the room clutching her stomach. Oh, why did it have to hurt so much? Her eyes filled with tears as she stared at the bed they’d shared for the past year. How soon would be before some stranger took her place by his side?

Hearing a commotion in the hall, Celea quickly wiped her tears and whipped open the wardrobe, rummaging through it for an appropriate luncheon skirt that was not dirt-kissed.

“There you are,” said Alistair, stepping into the room. “Are you alright?”

She took a deep breath and rubbed her eyes one last time before turning around, replacement skirt in hand. “Yes, I’m fine. I just lost track of time and realized I needed to change my skirt before lunch.”

Alistair chuckled and came up to her, taking the skirt from her hands and laying it on the bed before grasping her hands and pulling her into him for a deep kiss. “Didn’t want to wrinkle it,” he said, once they came up for air. “There’s someone special joining us for lunch today and I know you’d never forgive me if I’d messed up your attire.”

Celea’s heart lurched. No, he couldn’t be so clueless as to invite her to lunch with his future bride, could he?

She took a deep breath and forced her nerves to steady. “Well then, get out of my way, your majesty, so I can get dressed,” she said light-heartedly; at least she hoped it come off light-hearted.

It must have since Alistair chuckled again before giving her one last peck on the cheek. “I’ll be waiting in the dining hall, my love. Take your time.”

She changed the skirt and ran a brush through her hair, all the while breathing deeply to try and calm her nerves. Her stomach was fluttering, but thankfully no more than that by the time she descended the stairs. The main staircase this time, refusing to be regulated to the backstairs until circumstances forced her to relinquish her role as Mistress of this house.

So focused was she on keeping her nerves in check that she didn’t even look at the woman rising from a seat beside Alistair’s until she heard her name being called.

“Celea?” Memories flooded through her mind at the sound of that voice. A voice she had thought she’d forgotten, having not heard it in nearly 20 years. Her eyes were drawn to that voice and she found herself staring at a mirror image of herself except for the style and a tiny bit of grey flecked through the otherwise vibrant Auburn hair.

“Mama?” she cried, rushing down the length of the room.

Meeting her mother half-way, Celea fell into her arms, both of them sobbing loudly, almost in unison. They hugged, they patted, they laughed, and they cried, all the while being observed by Alistair and Teagan, both beaming from ear to ear.

Finally, Celea tore her eyes away from her mother long enough to meet Alistair’s grin. “How?” she asked, single syllables being all she could manage.

“It wasn’t difficult, considering the likeness,” he said, laughing. “But seriously, I was touring the alienage with Teagan and the workers who will begin rebuilding it shortly, and I spotted her just coming in from the North gate.”

“I’ve been away from Denerim for years, child,” said her mother, squeezing her arm. “Once they took you from me, your father and I left the alienage; it was just too painful to stay with you gone. We found a Dalish clan, and lived among them for years. It wasn’t until we met another clan to trade that we heard rumors about you. Some thought I was you, at first, which caused quite a bit of confusion, to be sure. But eventually, we learned the story of our beloved daughter, a Grey Warden no less!”

“Is papa with you?” Celea asked, looking around the room.

“I’m sorry child, but the Creators took him from us this past year,” she replied, wrapping her arms around her daughter and pulling her close. Celea shed tears for a man she had no memory of, crying on the shoulder of a woman she was only now beginning to remember. It made no sense, but it didn’t matter.

They spent the afternoon and evening chatting away, determined to make up for lost time. Celea finally made her way to their bedroom well past midnight, after seeing her mother to her rooms. She was surprised to see Alistair was still awake, setting his book aside as she entered the room.

“Thank you,” she said, her voice hoarse from the hours upon hours of conversation today. “I don’t know what to say.”

Alistair chuckled. “You’re welcome.” A sly smile stole over his face. “I do, however, have one more surprise for you, which I think you’ll like. At least… I hope you’ll like,” he said, climbing out of the bed and padding across the floor to help her undress.

“I don’t think my heart can take anymore surprises today,” she replied, leaning her back against his chest.

“What if I told you I’m no longer being forced to look for a wife?” he asked, kissing her neck.

She whipped around to face him. “What? How?”

“Well… it seems I’m not the only royal bastard in Fereldan. Cailan had son and we’ve found him. He’s being brought to Denerim to be raised here, in the palace, as the next heir.”

“Truly?” she asked, stunned.

“Truly,” he replied, hugging her close as he kissed her hair. “He and his mother should be arriving within the month. So, rest easy, my love. You’ll have me by your side until the Calling, or at least as long as you want me.”

Celea turned in his arms and hugged him fiercely. “I want you longer than that, but I’ll take what I can get.”

@Tigress: Something tells me that the story of Alistair convincing everyone to accept yet another royal bastard into the lineage because he doesn't want to get married is a lot more complicated than he let on. This may be the first time I've ever heard of Cailan having a bastard given that it's pretty much fanon that he's sterile. I can't believe Alistair managed to track down Celea's mother for her.
