For my wardens, it doesn't make sense, given Alistair's lack of trust in her, and her agreement on that. And she's selfish enough to make a play for personal happiness, regardless of an heir, which is why she considered the DR an option. But she's aware that arranged marriages are the lot of many, and that only her parents personal happiness together prevented such a marriage from being her lot as well, prior to becoming a Grey Warden, in that they hoped that she'd form a liking for someone suitable.

I love the them so much here, and I'm about 3 prompts behind.  Thank the Maker there is an index so I can get caught up.  So sorry.  I've been lost in the Karmas Companions mod and the toolset, so I haven't been keeping up with things.

All the writers and artists here do such amazing work.  I feel bad for being too preoccupied to pay attention.  *plans on diving into all the fills when she gets home tonight! *

My Cousland is against the chantry, hates it in fact. She also hates nobility but becomes the queen so she can change the world for the better. She's bitter because of the loss of her parents. My mage hated the chantry and would have joined Jowan if she could have, even said that she wanted to break her phylactery (sp). My Dalish elf doesn't care about the chantry one way or the other. The marry because of love. Bioware gives us the option to do what we want to do with Alistair. It isn't how "it's supposed to be. It's how we make it.

Yes, like I said, you can rp your character however you want. I'm talking about how the world works with all the other characters, and the setting you're placed in.

I don't see the point of arranging a marriage between Anora & Al. She's probably as barron as the warden. The best chance for an Heir would be to let Al rule alone & find a non warden wife (Dan's cousin?). But as a mistress, I feel like the Camila Parker Bowles of Fereldan, so for me - Queen, or ride off into the GW sunset with Alistair. Let Anora find her own conquering hero.

I think it's because some player's don't want to see an NPC honored more than their PC, or at least that's what the devs thought would happen. So Alistair get's swept under the rug while everyone honors the uber-awesome PC.

Yeah, that really upsets those of us here in the gush thread, the way everyone pretends he didn't exist.  I believe it was one of the endings Dahlia planned on doing, and I, for one, would love to see an Alistair funeral done.

Yeah, that really upsets those of us here in the gush thread, the way everyone pretends he didn't exist.  I believe it was one of the endings Dahlia planned on doing, and I, for one, would love to see an Alistair funeral done.

Wait, if you let Alistair do the ultimate sacrifice, we dont get a funeral scene like we did for the warden? 
What does it say in the epilogue?

This is my take on it too. She knew her duty prior to Howe's attack even though her parents gave her the time and the freedom to at least try to find someone acceptable to her, but in the end knew she would be lucky to find someone she could care for, if not love. But  after everything she lost and finding herself madly in love with the person she feels is the best choice for the throne, she grabs her happiness with both hands. She will not loose someone else that she loves, especially when she considers that in another world any son of the king would have been an ultimate match. Her duty as a warden was to end the blight...her duty as a Cousland is to do what she feels is best for her family and Fereldan, if that happens to be the same thing that gets her her happiness, so be it!

Because you (read the player) are too awesome to waste any minute to wallow over such an insignificant figure like Alistair. YOU have ended the Blight and are the Hero of Ferelden. YOU have to get cherished for completing the game, who cares at that moment for Alistair? Pfft...

That or something to that account must have been Bioware's dev's thoughts when writing this end, where no one gives a damn about the ACTUAL person ending the BLIGHT. Like Wynne has said so eloquently. "Ahh, poor slob...NEVERMIND...HOW DO YOU FEEL AS HERO AS FERELDEN?

I want to slap her and the devs across the face for that sentence alone, not to mention the total ignorance of his existence. Ugh. I really hope that Dahlia finds the time and measure to rectify that with one of her ending mods one day. Sigh.

That sucks, I thought they had like a nice scene for him like they did for my warden. I was planning to do a run where Alistair did the sacrifice, not so sure I want to now.

I'm sure he gets a funeral, just not on-screen. The Warden probably even attends. Conspiracy theories about the devs worried players wouldn't want the spotlight focused off of them at the end aside, the post-coronation ceremony is when you get to pick your boon and say goodbye to everybody. If you do the US then they give the origin-specific boon automatically because they can't ask you and you can't say goodbye to anybody. Having a funeral for Alistair/Loghain on top of the ceremony might make it a bit long. Are we only supposed to have the chance to say goodbye to everybody if we did the dark ritual? And then, of course, there's the fact that you might have absolutely hated Alistair/Loghain and only kept them around so you could gleefully throw them at the Archdemon and sitting through a sad funeral for them would be as annoying as having to do so for Cailan. Unless they could only have the funeral trigger based on approval so those who he was at least warm with could have the funeral and those  wouldn't.

And maybe no one really mentions Alistair's death but how long after he died is the coronation? The palace looks to be in very good shape and it seems Denerim's rebuilding so it can't be immediately after. And in the wake of a celebration like a new coronation, is it really so unbelievable that people wouldn't be talking about tragic deaths?

What gets me most about it, Sarah is not the fact that there is not a funeral cutscene. It's that your companions don't say a word. No matter how long it is after killing archie it's a coronation celebration where you are honored for saving Fereldan. It makes perfect sense to me in such a situation that the people who you spent day in and day out with would talk about the one of the group who was lost.

 I hate how Bioware assumes so much. Or maybe I don't understand marketing.

But, when you play an RPG, you play to build a story, a character, relation ships. It really bugs me that developpers would think the player would be so self centered to not care for someone else's funeral scene. So what if the player doesn't particularly like Alistair or Loghain? In game, they are still human beings who sacrificed their lives for peace!

I didn't know Alistair didn't get a funeral, it makes me... mad! Specially after I've seen how Bioware failed at turning ME1 into a comic for the ME2 PS3 version!

I can see them not saying anything if you and Alistair hated each other.  But there are conversations and party banters if the two of you are involved, so why not spend an hour or two and throw in a couple line?  That's my whole thing.  I've heard people commenting on the relationship for the whole game, but suddenly now that Alistair's dead, it doesn't matter?
