Yeah, it was way long ago, since the tower is now gone. The story though doesn't have to relate to that at all. It's just a prompt, and it's supposed to be about Alistair.

And it was going to focus on Duncans' final thoughts as the fighting began, thinking he'd have time to train Alistair and the new warden up to the finest standard possible, his fond thoughts of the young man who viewed him as a father, etc etc

But on the other hand, if you're not a FemWarden, his first time will be forever immortalized as the day he impregnated a woman he honestly hated.

No but Alistair is one of those rare classy gentlemen. He wants his first time to be special. The fact that his first time if you make him do the ritual as a MaleWarden or someone who didnt romance him would make the fact of it even worse than if he had a few tumbles in the hay and was just having to bite the bullet by doing someone who he had such strong negative feelings for.

He's never gone anywhere near Isabela in my games. Plus, it's not quite the same to go off and have sex with someone other than the person you love than for the both of you to decide to experiment together.

I don't see the difference. He is still experiencing sexual pleasure by Isabela, at least, touching him (I bet she did a lot more).
And if my love told me to experiment this with her, I'll tell her to experiment sleeping on the couch for a few months.

In the meantime, an attempt to fill Melca's prompt:
A Great Many Things Were Assumed That Have Not Held True
Alistair walked up to the main camp fire to join Zevran and Oghren. He had heard them whispering and snickering about something, and he figured it was time to see what the elf and dwarf were up to. As he approached, the two glared at him, but could not hold back their laughter. Confused, he pondered what they had done that was so funny.
"So just what is so funny that you two can't stop laughing?" he asked.
"Oh, nothing special, my dear warden. Nothing special at all." Zevran snickered.
"Just tell him, he might have some fun. Although I am not sure his pure mind can handle it."
"Handle what?"
"We have wagered with your fellow warden," replied Zevran, "and I think he will be most surprised."
"Or struck blind!" snorted Oghren, and both he and Zevran resumed their laughter. Alistair, still confused, spotted Dan comig up the hill from the direction of Wynne's tent. He carried a shocked look on his face, and kept mouthing the words "I cannot believe it." As he got closer to the three men standing by the fire, the look of shock slowly changed to anger.
"I should have ignored you both. Never again! I swear by Andraste's holy knickers I am never going near that woman's tent ever again! I had always assumed...well...not that!" Dan stormed off in the direction of Leliana's tent muttering "I know I am going to have nightmares about this. It's like growing up with Fergus all over again."
Still confused, Alistair looked at the two laughing men both doubled over. He crossed his arms and waited for one of them to confess to what they had pulled on his friend. However, when Zevran looked up and saw Alistair's expression, he doubled back over into laughter. Oghren never did look up. And the longer and more inpatient Alistair appeared, the stronger the laughter of the two pranksters.
A little later Leliana came running towards the three men near the fire, and her look of pure anger stopped the two from laughing, and suddenly a lump formed in Alistair's throat. Leliana passed the dwarf and elf and came right up to Alistair. She stood on her toes to look up at him, and he could tell by the look her eyes she was the angriest he had ever seen her.
"What did you do to him, Alistair?" she fumed.
"I didn't..." he protested, and she grabbed his collor and pulled him to her eye level.
"What...did...you...do...to...him?" Zevran and Oghren began to slink away drawing her attention. She snapped a look at them. "Not so fast!"
"We just made a small wager. That's all," stated Zevran.
But Oghren, being newer to the group and a little more frightened of Leliana. "We bet him about the kind of knickers that Wynne wears when she sleeps. We bet him that they were pink and with flowers. He said that she would not being an older lady wore longer full body small clothers. And he had nothing to do with it," as he pointed to Alistair. "He just got up here."
"So what has gotten Dan so spooked he will not even touch me!" she yelled as she let go of Alistair who was more than happy to be out of Leliana's anger zone. She turned her gaze to the elf, and right away his expression was one of regret.
"I am sorry, but Oghren and I already know that she does not wear anything when she sleeps. A great many things have been assumed about our matronly mage, and it seems many of them are not true."
Leliana stood in complete shock taking in what Zevran had just told her, and Alistair, unable to stay quiet exclaimed, "He saw her naked?!"
At that time a rustle was heard from Wynne's tent causing all four to look towards it. As the tent flap moved, all four scattered to remaining tents not waiting to see if Wynne would emerge.

Well, I personally think that whole interlude was fan service and verged on OCC, but within the context of it, I think he does it to please the warden. He wouldn't be the first person to do something like that for a lover. As far as I know, he won't do it if he isn't in love. Doesn't mean that he isn't intrigued.
