As per usual Bob took over my muse and I am now writing a funnier version of jealousy.

It seems that Bob does not enjoy it when I write sad or angsty pieces. Leading to him stealing my ability to write that way.

EDIT: Bob's reaction to angst pieces:

Actually nothing quite that specific. I've read so much, that you tend to see a lot of disputes like that. Figured since Alistair spent enough time in the stables at Redcliffe he'd understand the situation with the horses.

Yeah... When I used to work in an advice centre in London... Loooong ago [leans forward on walking stick...] the 'terms boundary dispute' used to strike fear into my heart...

Thanks folks. :)

And that was a fun prompt fill, errant. You're always welcome to join in. :)

The reason I haven't is that mostly I wouldn't be able to fill prompts. Just too much on my plate. I might toss one in there from time to time, and I'm still pondering Melca's guest prompt.

More sneaking around it while well armed. ;)

Giggles, on my PC that pose is a sad sort of 'Oh, noes!' With Bob, it's more, 'Dude, what?' Lol.

@Reika: Poor Alistair having to deal with all those horses. Of course, he has no idea the 'fun' Marlana herself is having. At least she will actually get a chance to deal with Howe's supporters and Alistair got the other nobles to bugger off. But then he has to move on and do all of that all over again...And best not tell Eamon all that time in the stables was ever useful or he'll start insisting he was training Alistair.

@Errant: Yeah, aside from his wife who was behind the whole thing I think Eamon's the only one who would dare to try to scold the king about this. Nice to see the 'No one can tell the king what to do' line in a non-mistress context. And at least they're being responsible and taking SOME guards, just much more laid-back ones.

@Sarah - That was one of the few good things about Awakening, I could stick it to the Howe supporters. ;)

And in my version of the world after DAO, Eamon is out of the picture. For the moment.

And not just some guards, a dozen of the toughest fighters the queen could find, with warden level experience. She's is no fool. And, while I couldn't find a good way to mention it, she'll keep adding more as she finds them. It took a few months to find just 12 that met her standards.

Eamon is definitely in the picture, and while Alistair will overrule him when he needs to, he'd rather not fight about things, especially when he has a sneaking suspicion that Eamon may be right, hence Lis working around any potential disagreement.

I seem to remember causing you to act out of character a bit.  You defended Alistair once in a discussion.  Image IPB  Good to see I still have that effect on you.  And the picture is all the more precious now.  Glad to see you're still hanging about.

I'm going to be drooling over all of these prompts for a while, ladies.  Image IPB

I was wondering if the prompts are open to everyone?  Are there rules?  Is there somewhere I can read rules, or something?  I'd try going back in the thread to find these answers, but do you guys know that there's almost 1200 pages in this thread?!

I'm not complaining, I think it's awesome.  Insanely awesome.  :)

There's no real rules besides trying to get the weekly prompt done by Saturday as that's when the next prompt is announced, anyone who isn't a designated weekly prompt-giver can still give guest prompts, anyone can participate, and here is the group link.

Would that be the one where you consider Alistair immature and self-centered for his actions at the Landsmeet?
I remember you felt that way months ago.  It's clear that no one will be able to change your view of it.  Image IPB  Myself, when Alistair walked out, that was the most terrible feeling of betrayal I have ever felt.  Here was someone I trusted to stand by me and, because I chose to spare a human life, he turns his back on everything we stood for.  Even though I half understood the reason, that didn't make the blow any less painful.
Looking back on it now, I still feel that he shouldn't have left.  The fate of the world should have been more important than revenge but I think David captured the heart well with Alistair's character.  No one is perfect.  We can't always make the right choice when it comes to something we care deeply for.  Alistair spent most of his life bouncing from place to place, caring about Eamon only to be shipped off to the Chantry once a new wife stepped into the picture.  Then we have Duncan, who cared about him and became the Father figure he'd always needed.  I can't begin to imagine how it would feel to have someone important to me die all because of of someone's actions.  What would I do in Alistair's shoes?  Would I be able to find compassion in the face of so much anger and pain?  Probably not.
Alistair is flawed enough to make him human.  We are all self-centered at some point in our lives and I'm sure we've all done something we later regretted, especially things done out of anger.  I know that first hand.  Pain and anger have a nasty habit of blocking out right and wrong and all we see is that moment and defending our hearts so that pain doesn't become worse.
There are so many other ways that situation could have played out.  I think if there had been an opportunity to take him aside and talk with him, I believe he would have seen reason as most any one else would have if given time to calm down.  It may not make much sense but:  Was it self-centered?  Absolutely.  Do I blame him?  Not one bit.
I'm not trying to stir it up again, either.  Image IPB  It's just been a while since I've talked about him.

@ Alistairchica
I agree completely and I do understand why he did it. I sympathize with his anger. But do I blame him? Yes.

I know that we can't always be rational. But there are times where we need to be rational and where it's expected of us, especially when we have a rather big responsibility on our shoulders (here, the lives of millions). And thus, I can find no sympathy for the way he behaved, not the way he felt, though I can understand it. And it's his total disregard towards the big picture that I find completely and utterly immature. Something somewhat similar happened also with the Redcliffe situation, and why I see that this immaturity is not confined to the Landsmeet situation, but is a general trend. His low to non-existent capacity to see the big picture, and almost constantly reverting back to his feelings when there are far more important things at stake, for me is immature. And I think he knows it, he says that he should have handled Duncan's death better, it was war and people die, but he didn't because he couldn't. He also says he's stupid after ranting at us after Redcliffe.

But naturally, this does not make him a bad character, like you said, it makes him human. And interesting, otherwise I wouldn't waste my time talking about him. And this is something I did not see before, the old thread showed me.
