I dont know there just seems to be something off about it too me.
Alim is actually sad about losing a friend but knows that it will take time.
Its fun to write this though because I keep seeing a different part of Alistair's mind.
Also I keep remembering how Gaider said that Alistair's hatred of Loghain corrupted him, as much as Loghain's hatred of Orlais corrupted him.
I thought you really conveyed a sense of Alistair living his worst nightmare, the strengh of his anger, and also an awareness of what he'd lost, but with no way to get beyond the without forgiving what he would see as the unforgivable.
The only thing I would question is that the letter had any effect on him at that time. It seemed a little too sudden. Maybe that's what you were sensing? In any case, poor Alistair, that was so very sad, and his life is so bleak....
Not sure why Alim wouldn't tell him about the ultimate sacrifice, Alistair's still a warden whether a practising one or not, and it might have made a diiference. While he's terribly angry at his friend, I doubt he actually wants him dead.
Good story! Very emotionally engaging!
