We need Alicorn to heal our friendships with his mighty pink, sparkling...whatever he has going for him. Don't go anywhere dirty with that, either, ladies.

I always found it awesome, especially in KoP's case since I'm not familiar with Giggles, that he came here and found friends even with his dislike of Alistair. He has admitted that he sees him in a different way because of the talks here and to me that is the entire point. Everyone gushed and some people listened. I see KoP as our mascot. Even if he hated Alistair with a passion, I think he should be welcome here. It leads to discussion and seeing a character we love in a another view. I see nothing wrong with that. Just my opinion though.
*tilts head* Why would KoP be our mascot? In the Alistair Gush Thread. Nothing against him personally, but...really? I'd rather nominate, oh, I don't know, Alistair?
I'm glad that people can come in and discuss and perhaps see characters in different lights. It's a good thing. But debates and discussions here can devolve in vicious arguments that probably get taken far beyond where they should stop. My issues tend to come from how things are debated, not what is debated.

I think there are different threads for different kinds of discussions, and the more vitrolic discussions should be kept to a thread that's more suitable for them than a gush thread. We all have different views of the characters, and if we focus on something we all have in common rather than strongly held differences, I think that causes fewer problems.

This might be a terrible analogy but do you go to a football game and watch just the mascot? No, you're there for the team. Alistair= team. The mascot gets people stirred up, both good and bad.
Actually, that was a darn good comparison, if I say so myself.

The mascot is the symbol of the team to rally the fanbase. KoP would not be my choice as the mascot of the thread. Nor would I nominate anyone in this thread to be a mascot because at one time or another, we've all done something to ****** someone else off. It would be like saying someone is more worthy of being an Alistair fan or being in the thread, and that's simply not true.
And...you think he's awesome, which is great, but not everyone does. I've butted heads with KoP a lot, and while it has nothing to do with disrespect, we've really gotten into a few times. You have to understand that just because you're his fangirl doesn't mean that everyone is or wants to be.
I'm not trying to be harsh, just my honest opinion.

I completely agree but it also shouldn't be that people are told to leave just because they have a certain veiw of things. He's hardly a troll, inciting things on purpose. He's stating his views as is everyone else. I'd like to think that the people here accept that, points of all different kinds and not..."Well, you've said something mean and I don't like it. Go away."
You ladies know him better than I do, have been friends with him longer, and it just seems kind of crappy in a way. Of course, this is my opinion. I'm not trying to lump everyone together either. Just easier to word it that way.

The only problem is that dissenters are quite often not like this, but that's another matter altogether.

Okay, here's a topic. Why do you think Alistair cracks jokes? Is it to cope to the severity of the situation?
I think he's naturally a humorous person, but it probably is at least partly to lighten the mood--and to deflect away from things he doesn't want to talk about. An all purpose weapon of choice, really.
Alistair shooting undead....

Smiting in a firestorm:

At least I think that's Alistair.... Could be my PC. Kind of hard to tell, what with all the burning...

Fangirl I might be but I'm not his body guard and I'm not gonna put words in his mouth. He seems capable of defending himself and doesn't need me.
You'll notice in my post that I said "I' see him as the mascot. I'm not trying to force that view on anyone. My opinion. Which seems to be a rather bad thing to have tonight.

Collider: Like errant said, I think he's a naturally humorous person, but I also believe is a coping/deflecting mechanism. He uses humor like a shield, to deflect things. And if he's the one poking fun at himself, then others don't get the chance to do it first.
