Well, I'm bowing out of the world for now, later ladies and gentleman.

@Collider. No. Not in the least. Do I as a gamer love the character Alistair? Yes I do. He's the only companion that I absolutely refuse to play without (sadly I must on occasion leave fair Morrigan behind.. like every mage playthrough for the most part) and his dialogue has always entertained me. But deepest character? No. He's got areas that could really be fleshed out more (and maybe because Ive only played Hardened Alistair) and sometimes seems rather two dimensional. He's the funny guy who hides his serious moments behind a mask of levity, an honorable man who has trouble reconciling his view of the world with practicality or reality, and tends to not really develop in any sort of gradual way, it's all very sudden.

Alistair: I dont want to be decisive.
Alistair post Goldana(given Hardenening conversation): I need to be decisive!
Alistair pre-Landsmeet: I dont want to be king.
Alistair mid-Landsmeet(if you spare Loghain): Gimmie the power and leadership I have never expressed any desire towards and infact have expressed hatred for throughout the entire time you've known me so-long as that guy ends up dead!
Alistair post-Landsmeet: ^ minus the guy ends up dead.

I think there's a lot of depth to all the characters, Alistair among them, actually. All are capable of change and growth, most are multi-faceted. They did a very good job of that, I think.

This picture made me laugh. It's Oghren leveling up while dead--no easy feat!

I've cursed at them to "**cking come on!" so many times, it's shameful. Too bad you can't clip it so that your warden is holding some marshmallows. xD

@Thor - Welcome back! It's been awhile since I've seen you around (of course that could be my fault LOL).

@Cme - Yay! I'm glad you decided to brave the Gush thread and post your gift! No, I'm not a fan of NPC mods, but... this one is very special to YOU and so I'm thrilled you've decided to share it with the rest of the community. Now if only you could swap voices, eh?

@Collider - I think all the characters you can romance are pretty much equally deep, but that comes after a year of playing and exploring the layers of each of them. For example, I just finished my first full-fledged Zevran Romance run, and was absolutely floored by the depth of his character once you get past the lecherousness. He risks everything to stay by his Warden's side (and will do this for a good friend, too, not just a LI) and while he is full of witty one-liners to the end, you can see how much he cares for his fiance.

Well I guess being the UK means I get to miss all the drama. The great thing about BioWare games is that they infuse all the main characters with a personality, a back story and lots of motivation so it's never that easy to say one character is deeper or better than another really. We all have our favourites based on our own likes/dislikes and our own personal motivations and emotional behaviour.

I love Ali - there I said it. I also like to abuse him sometimes, just cause he's so sweet and innocent. He looks best in a dress.

Thanks for all the welcomes and the DC comments. Yes, there were many silly, even stupid, things about it, but I liked playing it anyway, and now that (ahem) the drinks have worn off the ending isn't disturbing me anymore. Executing Alistair was difficult too (esp. when he asks, "What *more* could you want of me?") but I didn't actually have to watch him die.

@errant -- Great fire shots! What res. is your monitor, if you don't mind my asking? Mine never turn out that good…
@Yankee -- I have yet to fully scrape the 1200 (sigh) pages of this thread for images, but that is the nicest thing I've seen on here so far, which is really saying something. Could you perhaps post a link to a larger version??  :happy:

Rak, here is the original prompt with the story, and look closely at the rear end of Alistair's armor. It's from a mod called Morrigan's revenge.
