I'm not trying to. I just often have a problem where I cannot get people online to understand what I mean. I don't know why that is as I obviously feel I'm being perfectly clear and trying to rephrase the same basic idea time after time to no avail frustrates me since I don't know how to make people understand.

Oh that's fine. No worries. ^_^

I kind of see what you mean now.

Edit: KoP if you mock my ugly Shep I'll cry. XD He kind of looks goofy but he was my first custom Shep attempt (Heck 12 tries before I got sick of it my newer Shep's look much better but all of them only had saves at the beginning of Virimire.)

Sarah, good point, but I wasn't thinking of him having to convince me (since I never need convincing) but everyone else in the room, though the decision wasn't theirs to make. He just could have backed it all up instead of making it look like a personal grudge.

This is true, but I thought Loghain's rationalizations were completely ridiculous and that everyone there were sheep for just accepting them ("Hello? Do you not recognize pure evil staring you in the face?") Alistair could at least have backed it all up instead of just making it look like a personal grudge.

Pure evil? Seriously? :o

Here's a decent quality until high quality decides to show up.

Thank you!

Ok, now I should know not to trust my memory that much.

If the AA tower has been disabled, then going to the nuke is like a no brainer. So the choice is still a bit meeh.
But again, I am relying on my memory (was the AA tower disabled). Stop it.

For me, as much as I love Alistair's character (so much so that he never leaves my party even once) he shouldn't have left. Especially in the eyes of my Cousland. If she could focus her attention on the Blight and saving Fereldan over the need for her own revenge against Howe, then why couldn't he do the same with Loghain? Would it not have been wonderful irony for Alistair to watch Loghain die at the hands of a darkspawn just like Duncan? It was his fault that everything was turned upside down, so why not throw him to the wolves, so to speak? If there was an option for Alistair to stay, I would recruit Loghain for that reason. It wouldn't matter to me if he did the sacrifice and became a hero. My Warden would know the truth and tell her own stories, glorifing Duncan and making sure no one forgot.

However, I dislike Loghain. Very much so. And we all have different views on the matter. I wish we had been given more choices. It would have made discussions like these much more interesting if we could have took it even further.

@KoP: Yeah. Shep disables it remember? Your memory is terrible. :P

You disable the guns on your way to the bomb site the first time before you go to pick up whoever you left with the Salarians.

Ontopic: I wish you ould have reasoned with Ali. Or that Riordan though maybe just maybe the two of you didn't know why Wardens had to kill Archie. :pinched: The least he could've done was make sure when he saw how stubborn Ali was being.

Edit: @Alistairchica: Don't worry I can't stand Loghain either. But he's not evil to me I see him as tragic. It's mostly his own fault but he's still tragic.

You only played it twice! :o ME is too good to only be played twice!

Though yes I love both Saren and Soverign much better antagonists then Harbingers "I know you feel this." -_-

Sounds more like a stalker/molester then a 50k old machine.

Ontopic the topic of Alistair: I wonder if he'd like puppies. He reminds me of one.

I actually do want to play it again. I think it was better than the 2nd vis a vis story and all that. The gameplay kind of annoyed me though.

It must be said that back then, I didn't understand the concept of RPing that much. DA:O is my first real RPG experience. Now, I think I can appreciate ME more.

And lol yes Harbinger sucks. "We are the beginning. You are the end"....um what?
Nothing like "You exist because we allow it. And you will end because we demand it."

And speaking of Alistair and dogs. It's curious that Dog doesnt' seem to like Alistair much, but likes Loghain a lot. Ha! :P

In fiction, at least, it is usually the character's own damn fault that their lives ended up tragic. I guess it's just more interesting for the characters to play some active part in their downfall rather than just being a victim of cruel fate.

The gameplay was terrible (note how my shep has hideous yellow armor on and a geth gun. Those are super weapons soI don't have to deal with it.) Ah consoles. :wub:Supergun and Superarmor. You make ME bearable.

Though playing as an adept is pretty much the same thing...more adepts equals hilarity. Lifting geth into orbit is hysterical.

DA was one of my first true RPG experiences too. Though I can't see ME2 as an RPG. Too much railroading with Cerberus. Just too much.

And you fight him too often. Now if Harbinger was that damn Praetorian. :pinched: And yes Sovereign sent chills down my spine because you didn't hear him talking every 4 secs. Shep was nothing to him. Meanwhile Harbinger taunts you like you're archrivals. <_< And is oddly emotional for a machine. Only Legion is allowed to be emotional! ^_^

As for dog not liking Ali: I wondered about that. I mean he likes everyone else. What did Alistair do? :?

It is. When someone just keeps getting kicked by fate it's just not as dramatic. Too much like life I guess.

That would have been interesting is if you hardened and Exiled Alistair he did lead a rebellion.

I missed this post but yes it would've been. Hell I was expecting it.

Why on earth didn't he? I could understand unhardened Alistair becoming a drunk but hardened?

It's very possible we're exagerrating the drunk!Alistair ending. It doesn't say that Alistair became a drunkard or an alcoholic, just that there were stories of a drunk man claiming to have once been a prince and a Grey Warden. Maybe it was a one-night bender, or during a period of a few weeks when he was really low. We don't know.

Perhaps DA2 shall shed some light. :x

Alistair: Sir Jory seems to have lost his manberries.

Warden: I think they rolled into the thicket over here somewhere.

Alistair: I'm not touching that.

Warden: Should we be looking for yours, too?

Alright I just cought up 10 pages. You guys do talk a lot sometimes!

I just wanted to say, that the more I play the game (well, I've only finished it twice... And am in the middle of Awakening!), the more the story is starting to feel more "right" when the ending is, well bad. I'm curious to know if a lot of you do the dark ritual? (or just send Loghain to his death?)

@KoP : Yay you're back! Stayyyyyy!

Different endings for different characters, but I find it very hard not to make Alistair King.

I think people get all wound up about some of the results of the choices in the game and starting debating why character shouldn't do yada and yadda yadda...well that's the whole point of this game. Different choices have different consequences so you are not going to get win in every situation. That's why it's replayable.

As a means to avoid him so I could do a Zev romance (which I've been enjoying surprise, surprise), I hardly talked to Alistair at all. When I had him in my party, I kept a full coverage helmet on his head so I couldn't see him either. I'm that weak. That meant that I never managed to trigger his conversation about his sister. So I'll now have an unhardened Alistair going into the LM. The thought of letting Anora stay in power irks me to no end but it looks like I shot myself in the foot on this one and I'm going to have to. Yuck. I really can't bring myself to 1) keep Loghain or 2) force the rule on an unhardened Alistair. I'm all torn up and can't decide what to do with him now. All the main quests are done but I haven't given the ashes to Eamon yet, so can anyone tell me if I can still trigger that dialogue in Redcliffe before the LM?

@LadyD - You could be right... I doubt it, but like you, I hope we find out in DA2.

@Thor - Great shots!

@AC - I love hearing Alistair say that.

@Elysis - The more I play, the more I hate the DR. It's really becoming more hated than losing Alistair or even having to make Anora queen (which says a lot because I hate Anora). So, my games have switched to being Redeemer endings, most of the time, these days. It breaks my heart when Alistair quits the GW's but at least this way, I can avoid the DR and keep both of us alive.

@Cat - Go wake Eamon up so you can learn that Ali is Maric's son. Then, make sure his approval is at warm (gift him stuff if you have to) and go talk to him in camp (hit the ESC key to rush the scenes along... I did that a lot when Ali spoke in my Zev run LOL). He should bring up his sister and you can then still go do his quest.

WARNING! Do a hard save before you go talk to her because in my Zev game, the hardening didn't take. I don't know if I clicked the wrong response by accident or if his approval was too low for my advice to mean anything to him. So, hard save, talk to Goldanna, and then head back to came to see if you get the second hardening dialog. If you don't, get his approval to 51+ and try again.

And just because I love posting pics... have some Alistair.
