But as you said, the more you like and identify with a character, the more likely you are to forgive or ignore those flaws, and learn to live with them, just as one would in real life. On the other hand, we may not feel as inclined to forgive or ignore those annoying traits if we don't like the character that much in the first place.
My point was more than anything to respond to your initial post where you mentioned how him not always agreeing with your PC was a good thing, something which I agree with, but that doesn't mean I have to like the character just because he/she stood up to me. It depends.
Agree on both counts.
@Sarah and KoP - Just to clear this up since it's obvious my original thoughts have gotten twisted into the old "is he flawed or not" debate... that wasn't my argument at all. I was just stating that A) I don't think Alistair whines and I get tired of hearing ppl say he does (and I was not referring to anything you'd said, KoP) and

His reactions that same said ppl feel are whining are fine by me because they add depth to his character, flaws and all.
@Silver - Exactly! GMTA for sure!

EDIT: @Setre - My vote would be a Drunkistair if you don't want to harden him and make him co-rule with Anora. But, I am in the severe minority in this forum because I've come to despise the DR, so take my suggestion with a grain of salt. LOL
