@Silver -- I am deliberately avoiding SV as I don't want to see his face every time I hear Alistair speak. Someday I'll brave it to see what kind of job he does with other acting roles though.

I love SV!  Judging by his public appearances and his tweets, he is such a fun, laid-back and sincere guy that my Ali-love has easily bled into a full-on VA crush too.    Also shares Alistair's quirky humor.

Mine did the same, and I bought a slim. However, it's collecting dust now that I have DA:O on the PC. The mods were just to tempting to resist. The most I use it for atm is to watch netflix while I'm playing.

Aye, same here, I haven't played with mine for about two months due to DA on PC. And before that was DA mainly my reason to turn the console on. Yesterday however, I just wanted to watch a DVD (LotR 3, no less) and halfway through in Minas Tirith it suddenly died on me. I was miffed because since I rarely watch DVD's I have no separate player, so no LotR for me then. Meh. *kicks console*

So all in all, I blame the orcs at Microsoft for this RROD, lol.

I love RotK! I was just watching it yesterday! My favorite parts in the movie are how everyone either has swagger or an "oh sh!t" face

Granted, I also love Tolkien in general, taught myself some sindarin and have read the series upwards of 30 times >.> <.< and the Silmarillion about 25 times.... Yes I'm obsessed with Tolkien

I love SV so having him voice Alistair was probably one of the reasons I latched on to him as character so quickly. I think I was in love the first time I heard him speak. LOL

On a side note... did anyone else laugh when they realized that a rather accomplished magician is voicing a character who was trained to hunt down and kill mages?

Haha! Good observation...

So do people generally know him for his magic more than his acting? I didn't have a clue who he was. (We don't have cable, or even a TV that's in regular use.)

Steven Valentine. He's won awards for his work as one of the best Close Up magicians in America from Magic Castle in Hollywood, had his own magic show in LV for awhile. AKA, the guy who voiced Alistair

and I knew him for his magic before I saw him on TV ( I dont really watch a lot of tv that isnt the news or daily show/colbert report/south park.

Drat! Wrong country. Been gone for too long. That's why I didn't know. Didn't go to Vegas the right times, I guess. Now I adore him even more. I only know him from DA & a Disney show we get on a satellite provider. That was a huge surprise hearing my fantasy voice on a Disney show.

Wow! OH Wow! Found it listed on imdb. I do like the irony.:wizard:

I'm delurking to ask a question of the thread. Undoubtedly it's been covered before, but I don't feel like going through 1200-odd pages in this thread (and who knows how many in previous threads!) to look for the answer. I'm hoping the thread regulars will indulge me on this!



I've never tried hardening Alistair but still supporting Anora for sole queen. Is this possible? I want to try it for my current playthrough. I don't intend to spare Loghain. What happens if I harden Alistair and let him fight Loghain in the Landsmeet--will he accept Anora as sole queen in that scenario, or will I have to have someone else fight Loghain?



The scene where Riordan pops up in the middle of the Landsmeet to state that Loghain should be spared has always irked me (what, he couldn't have mentioned this before?!), so I generally have Alistair fight him no matter what playthrough I'm on. If Alistair's going to make trouble about Anora becoming queen, though, I guess I'll have to grit my teeth and have my warden do it.



Similarly, I generally harden Alistair because he seems like a happier person that way, but in the past I've always made him king--solely or jointly with Anora--when I've hardened him.

You can't harden Alistair and make Anora queen without bad consequences. I wouldn't suggest it unless you want a bad outcome.

Yes it is certainly possible to harden Alistair and support Anora for sole queen. You lose some approval points if you tell him ahead of time that you're supporting her. Don't let him duel Loghain, unless you have set up the marriage to Anora or are an HNF in love with him- otherwise he'll kill Loghain and take the throne without the Warden having a chance to intervene.  (edit: you also have to execute Loghain yourself, don't let Alistair do it)

When you talk to him afterward, he's not happy about Anora being queen, but is still glad it's not him on the hot seat, and he thanks you.

What bad consequences?  If someone other than Alistair duels Loghain, you still get to choose the ruler and if you're cagey with him beforehand you lose no approval at all.  In fact he often gives -4 or so for making him king.  lol

So, basically, I'll just have to grit my teeth and have my Warden fight Loghain and suffer through Riordan's ridiculous interruption. (Seriously, why can't he take you aside and mention this before the Landsmeet?! But that's a rant for another day!)
