Yep, or have someone else in the party duel him.  Pretend you sent Alistair out for a cheese run for the last part of the Landsmeet.

Kingship sure does look good on him, though.

I duelled Loghain myself the first time, as a warrior. As a mage I think I made Sten do it. Not done it as a rogue yet but I may choose Alistair.

Heh--I don't expect my mage Warden (with CoC) to have any trouble with Loghain (although I do love that Zevran line--I've used him in the past, too)!

PC usually has the easiest time of it.  I dueled him as a mage and it was easy peasy, but I usually make destructo mages so a healer would obviously have a harder time.  He also has decently high mental resistance but if you've put all points into magic it's not hard at all.

Melee rogue like Zevran, also very easy, though you have to try to keep Loghain stunlocked (Dirty Fighting + paralyze runes for instance).  Otherwise you could end up on your arse if he gets a War Cry off.  Some physical resistance buffs help.  Anyone can beat him just by spamming potions, of course.

What bad consequences?  If someone other than Alistair duels Loghain, you still get to choose the ruler and if you're cagey with him beforehand you lose no approval at all.  In fact he often gives -4 or so for making him king.  lol

Ok, sorry was thinking that hardened Alistair won't back down from the throne and doesn't swear fealty to Anora thus is executed.  I've never done it because either hardened Alistair is the king or unhardened Alistair stays a GW.

@Glorfindel =  lol I had an english prof that was crazy about Tolkien. One of his classes was 2 part class (a full year) just on his work. Final exam was for us to write our own story/play using his world. I wrote a silly Radio Program with 2 hobbits as the hosts. I guess he liked it since I got an A+ in that class.

I would have the story of a hobbit bard (of Took descent, of course) traveling around the Kings Land during the 4th Age gathering tales of the Fellowship to bring back a "hobbit style" of Frodo of the Nine Fingers and The Lord of the Rings to the Shire. With lyrics included as he preforms the final piece infront of the Mayors building at Michael Delvings and at The Green Dragon.

LOL Elysis - I've never tried writing two ff's simultaneously. It's bad enough I try to do that with my ff and "real" stuff. But, I know lots here who do it, so sure! Give it a shot. (Or pull an excerpt from Elizabeth's story -- she does have a very cool Joining, so says your Beta. lol)
