Not only that, but Ive been trying to play a very pragmatic character. If it'll lead to helping me end the Blight, then it gets done, regardless of my moral considerations on the subject.
But on the other hand.. can I really trust a forge relying on souls in the hands of Bhelen and Branka?

Depends on what you mean by that, but yes, probably my character comes close, although I wouldn't put it like that.Lady Jess wrote...

Well do you want to be pragmatic about that right NOW? Or clean up the mess they make of it later? I mean really, if they get all Crazy with it (trying to not meta game, just saying "what if"), and start using it all willy nilly like, theres alot of potential GW recruits lost. And then there's Shayle, She killed her master, whats an army of them going to do? AND what if mid blight battle they go chasing pigeons??

I don't think there is such a thing in this game. The game forces you to kill a lot of people by the end. A LOT.Lady Jess wrote...

But I gather that most people equate "goody goody" with Andrastian. If so, yes I've played a couple Andrastians. The mage in my avatar, Esra, is probably the most devout of my characters.

I just planned on having this whole big conflict with my character (RP, and story that Im writing wise) between his doing "his duty no matter the cost" and his own sense of morality. Anvil seemed like the best decision to have that revolve around.

My maleficar respects the Chant (except the Canticle of Transfigurations) mostly because of Benedictions and Trials and the hope the Chant can give to people, but is in no way a Andrastian

No, I don't think it's about devout,. I took it to mean decision making. my blood mage is as pious as a chantry sister but she still killed Vaughn, and helped Jowan escape, sacrificed Isolde.
And yeah you're right the game really doesn't let you make purely "good guy" choices. Heck just in the origins, you help steal a phylactery, kill your brother (DN), dishonor a grand orzimmar tradition by your mere presence then kill your boss on the way out(DC), slaughter an arl's kid (totally justified) or abandon your parents (No choice and with their blessing but still) If any of our characters were truly goody two shoes they'd never get to Ostagar...lol
All of my characters are good girls. Some have done bad things for good reasons, like murderknifing Vaughn EVERY time. But none are at all pure happy sun shining out of their arses

You've got a point Jess.... and while Im pretty sure we wont see Bhelen throwing the Castless to the Anvil like the King of Caridins time, he would definitely use it for political prisoners.... and while an army of golems is, in the long run, the better defensive option for Orzammar, it would be a weapon for tyrants.

I still haven't done it but go for it. It can always be undone next playthrough. Don't change it because of anything we say:)

I have a devout BLOOD mage. Try that on for size...lol!
She only uses it for healing/helpful spells or harmful spells against darkspawn. So it's never used to "rule over man" But considering her past she only learned it for self defense. (Unconditional in my sig tells that story I think)

Your Blood Mage is devout? Does it commit ritual suicide?
My Maleficar has never used blood magic against non-darkspawn/demons/creatures except in three circumstances. The Tevinter Blood Mage, Conner, and Flemeth

Decision making I usually do play a good"er" guy, though Ive killed Conner, helped Jowan escape, even sided with the Werewolves. I make decisions based on the information my character can know at the time, and thinking towards which decision will lead to the greatest possible outcome (like I usually sacrifice Isolde because I dont know if he'll be able to be kept contained and I dont want the people of Redcliffe to suffer anymore because of one womans foolishness)

I said Devout not extremist:P
edit: Pious is probably a better word. She finds peace in attending the services and the chant calms her nerves in battle. She also is smart enough to know the chantry itself twists the meaning to suit it's own needs.
edit again: she is actually feeling a bit suicidal at the moment...

She did the mages collective quests, so she's not a zealot, but I picture as chancellor of Ferelden she tries to get the Chantry to undertake more charity works in the alienage, that kind of thing. She probably had a bit of Keili syndrome early on in life, but got better.

I prefer to play characters that are a mixture. I don't play really evil gut-puppies-for-fun types and I don't play girl scouts, generally speaking. Maybe they start out naive, but the Blight is bound to "harden" anyone.Lady Jess wrote...

Beautifully done stories. What was the rationale for becoming a Blood Mage, if I may ask?
In my story it's planned on being a mix of "gathering as many tools as I can to protect my clan when I inevitably escape" and "ugh...Jowan. Now I've gotta get involved with you to make sure you dont get caught."

Oh no, this one wasn't a blood mage. Spirit healer/ arcane warrior/ freezy destructionist. I've played several mages and... *counts on fingers* three have been blood mages. I roleplayed Sula as having been Uldred's apprentice, Idun (Dalish mage) learned from Flemeth but didn't practice til the Blight, and the Amell I'm playing- I created her with Warden's Vigil text RPG community in mind, not as a Warden PC. Her backstory is that she was the daughter of a noble in Anderfels and fled when her father's enemies turned her into the templars, became a bandit, and was essentially a warrior/ hedge mage.Glorfindel709 wrote...

Yes. Canon MHN similar to my paladin PC from BG series. Helped/saved everyone. Spared Loghain and allowed him to kill the Archie. Sided with Harrowmont and broke the Anvil. Broke the werewolf curse. Saved the Mages Tower. Sent Wynne into the Fade to save Connor. Hardened Ali+Anora on the throne.

Vaughan got the chop as soon as I had the chance, as it was well deserved.
She will generally spare/save anyone she can. Persuasion checks are often used to avoid unnecessary violence. I will probably let Alistair strike Loghain down. Though it is not my conviction to do so, it is surely his.
