Just played the demo.... and I have mixed feelings. I need to go play Origins now and remember why I fell in love with this world. Dialogue dialogue dialogue.

I can't have any feelings about it. I don't do normal mode I do easy mode. But You can't CHOOSE so I keep dying. So back to Kasha or Jaina I guess.

I usually play on Hard or Normal, but getting used to the new combat speed is wicked difficult. Especially for the Mage. I nerfed like 4 or 5 times

I don't see much point in playing the demo seeing how I pre-ordered it.

It's got its high points and low points

The lowpoint being I feel like Im playing a JRPG, dialogue with companions seems to work like Awakening, and Im swinging a great sword like it's a friggen pool noodle.

I don't think it is, it's just frustrating trying to really try it only to repeatedly die at the first emissary you meet. I can't compare to JRPG, because well...never heard of/played one. It's definitely different, you still leap on Ogres and Mages get amazing moves. I think I'll love the actual game because of the story, which already has me.

What I meant by a JRPG was that Im dashing across the room to hit a darkspawn that's 12 feet away from me in the space of half a second, insanely fast combat speed, crazy jumping attacks, and a strong emphasis on look over depth ( I say that because I can't friggen talk to the characters. The Death happens and I didnt feel remotely connected to the person at all. *shrugs*)

Thats what I thought at first but it sucked me in. I've never found combat important. Frankly I get bamf moves I'm happy, it's cool, but it's just a nuiscance I must deal with to get back to the story.  unless I'm killing someone under strange circumstances, like Connor, or Loghain, I don't care about it. I'm there for the story, and it's lookin good.

AND as mage, finally using that staff for a WEAPON= awesome.  As Lady D said boo no Alistair in the demo:(

Edit: As for the leaping? Thats to get rid of that STUPID shuffle walk thing we had to do according to Mike Laidlaw. I much prefer it to looking like someone gave me the worst wedgie ever.

Oh. This. So. Very. Much.

The fighting animations are way over the top for me and one of the things that are bothering me ingame. It feels more like playing Devil May Cry than Dragon Age then, really. Then again, I'm no huge fan of fighting in Origins either (always play on easy to get the fighting quickly out of the way) I play Bioware games for the story, not for the hot rod samurai action.

Also yeah Carvers death...I was like...Well I should suppose to be sad now, right?" Umm no.

*Shrugs and stabs Ogre with exaggerated moves*

I watched Laidlaw's new interview today on gamespot and those exaggerated moves, the charges, leaps and rushes? They take the place of the "someone shoved a stick up my arse" shuffle we used to do between monsters. I'd much prefer to leap. The mage is a-maz-ing.

I can't get past the first stupid Emissary .

I am more worried that I will get ME2ed with DA2.

Oh so I am supposed to care about those people/that person?

GIVE me a reason to care, dont TELL me that I care.

Dragon Age made me FEEL something.

As a human noble I HATED Howe.

As a Dwarf Noble I felt like an idiot for falling for what happens.

If an RPG fails to make me FEEL something it has really failed.

ME2 never made me feel anything but annoyance as I rode along to plot railway to every linear shooting gallery in the galaxy.

Legion and Mordin made it fun though.

Maybe those situations in the beginning will be explained and deepened as the game progresses. And after all, the demo is only a glimpse. Let's wait and see what March 11th will bring.

I definitely FELT something. Much like I felt something when Alistair stormd off for the first time, or how it felt when he broke up with my PC for the first time.  Or how the WC ending felt (when I watched the videos of TMP's mod) and theres a certain voice in the beginning that WILL make you feel it. Depending if you played a certain origin.  If this is just a short, I can't wait to see full speed. I'm hooked.

I heard the voice and smiled, because Mama *******(not a curse word) was one of my favorite NPCs in Origins.

That being said, I didnt feel anything towards the characters. When The Death happens I literally just laughed at the "Noooo!! *insert name*!" because I had no emotional attachment to anyone at that point.

In Origins, I felt something the entire time, because I could actually interact with Characters. DA2 so far looks to me like it's going to be a game I come to to work out my future-arthritis and practice my speed tapping and go replay Origins for the story telling and character development/depth
