@ Eshaye - that was beautiful!! I got a chuckle over your song choice. The original Metallica version was the "First Dance" song at my best friend's wedding. What made it funny  was that she was in her late 30's when she got married and had finished medical school and her speciality when this song was mostly known by the 15 year old crowd. I love the version you chose. I get all nostalgic and teary-eyed when I hear it.

Thank you for my morning *squee/sob*:wub::wub:<3<3<3:wub::wub::wub:

edit: Someone please top me if possible. I'm at the wrong computer!!!!

"wow...maybe he will after all"

(This is Tess Cousland, she'll be the true mistress ending, since it leaves her being kinda pushed out in the epilogue she'll be free for other endeavors in the future. Also thanks to cme for the xtra scenes;)

She is a real beauty! Alistair is a lucky man!!! And I adore those scenes SO much!!

@Jess - I had a list of things I wanted to do before DA2 got here but I realized a couple weeks ago that I was no longer having fun playing DAO because I kept worrying about all the stuff I "had" to get done. So, I abandoned a playthrough I was in and decided to replay my canon with no purpose in mind other than to enjoy the game again.

Much more fun and much less stressful. I figure if I like DA2 enough to explore different imports and decide I want a specific import, I'll just go back to DAO and do it, then. I've got quite a few different DAO endings already, so I'm just not worrying about the rest of my "to do" list.

I'm also considering playing my first run of DA2 without importing anything, just to see what the writers have in mind as the "default". Not sure if I'll do that yet, but I am thinking about it.

@Eshaye - That video was fantastic! And I'm not just saying that. Usually, I find myself looking a min or two of a video and then moving on, but yours held my attention the entire time. Well done.

@Cme - You know we can't praise you enough for all the great work you've done, right? I am so grateful you liked DAO enough to put so much time into modding. Thanks! *hugs*

@Gilsa - I really enjoyed the Rogue (both dual-wielding and archer) and the 2-handed Warrior, in DA2. I liked the mage, but it actually felt weak compared to the other classes, although I think it will be fun playing it.

All I can say is wow, I absolutely loved it. It brought a tear to my eye. It's really awesome to see how much IRS Alistair has grown, and to see that people use and appreciate it. I spent 7+ months on the mod, and it really feels awesome to see it like this. Seriously, good work on the video.  :wizard:

So glad you liked it! Your mod has brought so much life to the game and dimension to Alistair's romance, it's one of those things that if you try it you can't do whithout. <3

Thanks guys for the great comments! :kissing:

@Merilsell I won't be going anywhere either, have only been playing DAO for two months and have more playthroughs to do and lots of FF to read and maybe write. But I'm hoping that DA2 is good enough to at least distract me!

With DA2 coming, and having finished my saddest playthrough yet, and this thread slowly dying. I feel like we're really saying good bye to our guy.

Well normally I'm one of the few still very active in the thread but you know...busy days and such. Also I'm yet not finished with DA:O since I only have it since 2 months for the PC...and there is also a monster-seized FF I need to finish. And I won't be when DA2 is out, so I'm going nowhere. Especially not in that scary DA2 forum :? I'm semi looking forward to DA2 now since the demo (still hate these artificial Devil May cry battle animations) but I'm excited about its story and new lore. Alone for that I will play it...but I will never stop playing DA:O -- of all games I have played this is my all-time favorite EVER. And with 20 years of playing this says a lot. Never had I a game that drew me so in like DA:O and for that I will love it all my life.

For me, it's more of me saying goodbye to my warden rather than Alistair. I don't like the way her story wrapped up in Witch Hunt and the writing was on the wall when DG said all companions had their own resolution in origins (save for Morrigan, where Witch Hunt's primary purpose comes in). I'm happy with my default Aeducan and my default Brosca so I consider myself done with DAO. (I've played at least 12 dwarven games, not counting my non-dwarven runs -- have played the hell out of it. =p) I just haven't posted in this thread because talking about DA2 has mostly been discouraged and it does run the risk of going off topic and getting the thread locked. The DA2 forums should get better when the game launches and there's more categories added so I will definitely see some of you on the other side!

PS -- I think the thing that most surprises me is that early on, I used to get crap for sparing Loghain and doing that to poor Alistair, but now there's a ton of people with drunkenstair endings ready to go first thing. =p

My problem is of the endings I do want to import? I haven't finished them yet, I have Awakening and Witch Hunt to go. At the Moment I plan to finish Drunkenstair/Jaina, then go into DA2. When I finish, Pop back to Queen Kasha, finish her, go to DA2 until I'm done.

With only a 10 year span for DA2, And Gaider, who is notorious for leading us astray and breaking our hearts either by our own hand or his , then man makes me think in conspiracy theories I swear. I'm keeping all my origins saves. Ok he says all our companions had their resolution. But what does he really mean <_<

I'll just be keeping my morphs and my saves right over here dangit.

Also, about the forums? I'm sure THESE forums were equally terrifying until the game launched and all the haters either converted or left.

@Meril : Elizabeth wasn't either. :lol:

As for Alistair and DA:O, well, I'm not about to give up on the game just now. Hell, I still play Mass Effect..

Heh, I don't recall an Alistair fan thread in here for the longest time. There were threads that argued about him, but not one devoted to gushing over him until it just picked up steam and kept going. People were getting their squeeing done in LJ or in bioware groups (which is where I was prior to the first gush thread). DA2 forums are a different beast. There are weekly prompts for characters we know very little about. =p

A lot of the gushing protocol was originated in the Zevran thread, I think. They were the first here, and also the first to do prompts, which is now like- mandatory. They also originated the ToP protocol and daily themes. But I suppose the idea of fan threads might have carried over from the ME boards?

That is part of the WTF for me, really. Given, I wasn't in the forums prior to DA:O launch and hence dunno if there was such "the sky is falling" mentality either...or squeeing over a character I know next to nothing about too, but I find especially the last point... scary

Alistair appealed to me during the game...and all the others as well, so I for myself need to know the character I'm "squeeing" about. So the concept of being a fan of a DA2 character (others than Anders, because we know him) is eluding me personally. I need to see if their character is appealing to me to be able to do that. But that is (probably) just me.

As for saying goodbye to my Warden...well since I'm still writing her story and are far, faaaaaar finished from doing that, I will be rocking on with her. It is that simple. :P At least Lenya will get a more satisfying end than the one in Witch Hunt. Eventually. ;)

The fanfiction about unknown characters, I don't get that either. I just skim past it as I do for ficspam here. The way it was explained to me by someone on the DA2 boards is that people like a chance to let their imaginations go crazy before game reality intrudes. Whatever- it's their free time. It's gotten less as the game release nears and there is actual info about the characters to discuss, albeit still very sketchy.

@Giggles - Thanks for the Skyrim link! That looks like it's going to be amazing. Now if only Bethseda would hop on the romance bandwagon, I could die a happy woman. ;)

@Jess - I hear ya. I've got all the basics that I want to see ready to go... Alistair/Cousland King/Queen, Drunkistair, Deadistair (although I really hated that one), and a DE/Zev romance (not that this will matter one iota in DA2, but I've got it, just in case). I figure after I play it, if I find another scenario I want to see in DA2, like you, I'll just go back and play DAO to get it.

@Gilsa - I'll eventually hang out in the DA2 forums, but not until I've completed my first DA2 playthrough. I found these forums during my first DAO playthrough and gave in to the temptation to read some spoilers, which I later regretted. So, this time around, I'm going to make my first run through DA2 as much spoiler free, as possible with the understanding that I can always go back and play it again to find things I missed (which I didn't even consider in DAO since until this game, I have never replayed an RPG, ever).

LOL, I remember that, too. I used to be bemused with the constant bumping of the earliest thread and wondered why they just didn't take it to a group. People wanted one for Alistair and there were a couple false starts and I wouldn't contribute to it because hey, groups are still over there, but after a while, screw it. If you can't beat them, join 'em. ;) I liked how creative people were in the Alistair thread along with the wealth of toolset knowledge that was shared in here.

The Dwarf master race thread was also the only gush thread about a people / culture / race. It was quite successful actually and it's where the term "Dwarven Messiah" originates from (I think it was me actually). Then it died slowly. tragically fitting.

Hopefully we'll hear news about Orzammar in DA2. And hopefully they will remain true to the epilogues.

Oh, yeah, I'll be checking in here for two possible Alistair outcomes: 1) Cousland marriage ending and 2) GW ending. I don't have either. I only have one game where he rules as sole king. Rest are him married off to Anora.
