Well said, Glor, really. You hit the nail on the head for me, because this is how I see it as well. Where have you been called a troll?

And I post Lenya HERE for emphasis. :P

Lenya doesn't like what you made of the elves in your pretty new game, Bioware. At all.

@Meri

I've been called a whiner/troll//dbag/etcetc on the DA2 forums since after the Demo came out by the zealots.

I watched my girlfriend finish her DA:O playthrough today, and realized how much I'll miss Alistair and Sten in DA2 (not to mention my beautiful Swamp Witch...:wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:<3<3<3:wub::wub::wub::wub:)

I'm sorry you don't like the game and have already determined by the Demo it's not your cup of tea. That is entirely your right and you have a right to complain. I plan on enjoying myself playing it. When I first saw the Duncan on Crack Poster Boy I wanted to barf. And then saw people gushing over him and calling him "Mike" (sorry I don't get the reference) I just wanted to push my head into a wall.
But as time passed I began to think it may not be so bad. I saw the Signature Edition and the perks that came from ordering it. I decided to give it a chance.
Once the Demo came out and I got to play it, see what changes were made at first i was frustrated not knowing how to fight cause frankly I SUCK at that kind of stuff, I found as I got into it and strategized more, I was able to handle the tougher fights.
DA2 challenged me more than DAO. While I enjoyed my Wardens tales, and the wonderful companions, (and I suspect if they are using the Awakenings dialogue system i won't get as engaged in DA2 companions' tales). I'll miss the familiarity of Ferelden but i also look forward to new places, new challenges and making a story with LadyHawke and her new companions (I already adore Aveline!) and I look forward to romancing Fenris and meeting Sebastian as well. I dislike dwarves and expected to dislike Varric because of (Well personal reasons I won't go into here) but I found him to be a pleasant surprise as well.
While you are certainly entitled to voice your opinions on the boards and dislike something, continuing to grouse, ****** and moan impotently isn't going to change what's happening. DA2 is going to be released regardless of your personal opinion on the subject, and people are going to buy it and they will either enjoy it or they won't, that's up to them and it should be up to them to decide.
For me its just sad watching and reading these kinds of posts and having my enjoyment curtailed by nay-sayers afraid of change or being told what I am supposed to like or how I am supposed to feel about these things.
So, of course people get angry if you have 1000 posts all saying "this sucks" when they are looking forward to it.

Yep, I don't miss them, though, since I'm constantly in their heads due to my FF, heh. But I know what you mean. That is the reason I mostly avoid the DA2 forum. Not only due to the spoilers but also to refrain myself from RAAAGING over the elf-redesign. *whistle*

On the bright side I'm glad NOT to be able to play Lenya there. She'd HATE to have a Jay Leno chin, clown ears, and generally to look like a cheap copy of a blockbuster movie beginning with A and ending with vatar.

...

Oooh... ooops. :whistle:

@Sylvan

I don't recall anywhere in my post saying "DA2 will suck" in fact, I complimented it and said I was sure I'd have the compelling story and deep characterizations that are a hallmark of Bioware games. The point I made in my rather long wall of blah (which has seen the light of the internet twice and I havent posted anything else about the game except minor tirades against the apparent import bugs and my considerations about the Demo in the feedback thread (and how I might actually enjoy the Rogue Archer combat in this game lol) I can already tell based on the Voiced Protagonist and Dialogue wheel that immersion is shot in the foot for me. The same problem happened with Mass Effect.

And honestly, I dont think I once said anyone had to feel a certain way. I support Bioware and the people who honestly think this game is going to be the bees knees, even if I dont fully agree with them. I'm not afraid of Change, I ordered the signature edition and have been eating up all of the reviews and news I could get since October. I look forward to exploring this Brave New World of Kirkwall and the surrounding environs.

But I didn't find the demos' combat very challenging mostly because I would just spam A button while waiting for my hot key attacks to reactivate. That being said, the ease of which you can switch back and forth between targets is awesome, especially as the rogue when you're surrounded and can just move between each target scoring hits in a chain.

The Demo is supposed to be a taste of the final product - and what I got was ridiculous combat animations, bugged appearences, VA, and dialogue, and "I want to be a dragon". I was not inspiried, I was not blown out of my socks. I was indifferent, to the characters, to the setting, and to someone who was apparently *my* Hawke.

Who knows, maybe the final product will change my mind. I'm going to the Midnight Release, enjoying all of my download content, and generally going to try and immerse myself into this new Thedas.  The joys of being a cynic is that I'm either always right or pleasently surprised.

Obviously you have to have posted some negative stuff (perhaps you don't perceive it as such) but others certainly do. From what i get out of your posts is you dislike the game, dislike the changes made and find little of merit. Even your positive statements come off as backhanded compliments. Otherwise people wouldn't be saying you're trolling if your reviews of it are positive and are limited to only one or two comments on the boards. You have said your peace obviously, why continue to discuss it, particularly in a gush thread for a DAO character? (OTness abounds, unless you wish to complain about a lack of Alistair in the game, in which case, your post is appropriate).
Frankly I have avoided the forums for just this reason. There will be nay-sayers and there will be gushers and I prefer to make my own opinions about the game, good or bad. I don't like reading posts about something new, and have avoided the spoilers though friends in MSN have told me a few things that I can expect, which I don't mind.
Anyone gushing OR complaining about something to this extent that they can't change is passively aggressively trying to tell others how to feel? Garner sympathy? Engender similar feelings of apathy/dislike/love? I don't know what the motive is, I just wonder why anyone would continue to post once they have said their peace. This applies equally to nay sayers hurling the 'blinded by the new shiny' at the gushers and the gushers calling the nay-sayers 'trolls'. I view such as manipulation. Again another reason why I have tried to avoid most DA2 threads.
Just accept what comes, enjoy it (or not, at your discretion) and move on. I am sure DA2 is not the end of the story by a long shot. Here's hoping DA3 is something more to your liking.
For the record, I think whoever did that to Zevran should be boiled in oil. I don't like the new elf look any more than Merilsell does and especially would not want to see my canon (Surana) in DA2 but that's how things are now. Frankly, I'm more weirded out by the horned Qunari...

Ok then, not really going to bother replying as apparently you do think that I'm a troll, so it would just engender more issues.

Back to Alistair!

I was wandering Orzammar the other day with Alistair and Shale (not a usual party config for me) and Shale made a comment of incredulity about how she couldnt understand why Alistair wouldnt want to be king, and that if she were King, she'd arm everyone with bows and shoot all of the birds out of the sky... and I thought it was the funniest thing I'd heard party banter wise in a long time.

Anyone else have any particularly memorable party banters that make them laugh whenever they think of it?

Wandering through Orzammar the other day, I got the "Crossing borders" convo with Shale/Alistair/Zevran for the very first time. Made me giggle a LOT.

I hardly march around anywhere without the Big 3 with me (Morri, Al, Lel) so man I guess I'm missing out on some of those sweet banters. Although anything Zev/Alistair (when I'm not feeling up to being Cat-fought over) is pure gold.Image IPB

lol cause this post just made me giggle, imagining Lels, Morri and Al all walking around Orzammar and the girls start up one of their catfights.  And Al standing there with an uncomfortable *I don't wanna be here* look on his face...Image IPB

I love everything involving Shale, really.

# Leliana: You aren't all stone, Shale. There is a person inside of you.
# Shale: If so, it is because I ate him.

That's pure gold. Or the banter with Oghren or Zevran. She is so awesome with her dead-panned humor and a blast to write in my FF. I love her *hugs her stony frame and gets crushed in return*

I love the banter where Shale gets all flustered about how manly Sten is:

Shale: I wish to say that it has been pleasant fighting at the qunari's side.
Sten: I feel the same. You are a remarkable construct, kadan. A warrior to be feared.
Shale: No more than the qunari, surely. The way it strikes down its foes, marvelous!
Sten: I smile each time you roar a battle cry, knowing our foes tremble.
Shale: I could watch you fight all day long--the skill you display, the form, how the light plays on its muscles... I mean... yes. Well done. With the fighting.
Sten: You, as well.
Shale: Right.

Look, Lenya a CAT. *sees her hiding behind Alistair, shaking with fear*

@Bite

If it was Wintersbreath it's also from Wardens Peak. The best bet is to redownload the DLC and reapply it to the game. OR a fix that works on the xbox is to turn the machine off, wait 10 minutes, make sure you have an established connection that can connect you to the Dragon Age servers, and turn the game back on. That fixed the problem for me just recently

Ah, I'll bet that's what it was -- yeah, now that I think of it, I'm certain that's what it was. Well, I have it on the PC, so I'm thinking that that other fix won't work (though it would be nice if next time I start up the game everything's back to normal, haha). I guess I'll either go redownload it, or maybe just put up with not having it (since my hope is that I'll be able to switch back to my own computer soon...). Assuming that there aren't any other ramifications than "stuff from Warden's Peak disappearing."
Thanks!!

@Bitenomnom: Sometimes this also happens if you are too fast with loading a save. The DA-updater service needs a bit of time to get working, so you have to wait a few seconds BEFORE loading a save, otherwise the DLC's won't be available ingame.

Btw thanks for your lovely review of OEaH. I squee-ed. Much. <3 Still need to answer you, though. But first I need to get this chapter done, it is nagging on me for days already. Too bad that I'm so easily distracted. D:

Okay.

My sister is going to be signing up probably around noon.
She did her queen cousland run of Origins and wants to talk about the game.

She also hates me because she went through fraps and found my screenshot folder for a landsmeet test I did. Some pictures REALLY made her mad.
