Yeah, it's hard to avoid spoilers since I have come across them here and my other favourite thread, the Zevran one. And even in the no spoiler one on DAII forum some people post spoiler info (some of them are dissatisfied people trying to ruin it for those of us who actually like the game!) Having said that, I don't think Alistair looks that awful in the pics posted here. I've not actually come across him in my game yet (will be the drunkard version, I think, as I did the No Compromise option) but he is still recognisable even though the change int he graphics system makes him different to original Alistair. I do prefer the way charactesr look in Origins but I think DAII has got a hard press from people expecting it to be the same. Yes, I prefer Origins, but DAII is still enjoyable and I'm not sorry I bought it.

It will be challenging for DA2 to win me over, I'm no huge fan of slice of life- storylines in games and have still "Hawke-issues". But hey I will see if it manages that despite my overly critical/snarky demeanor/opinion.

Heh, spoilers...I already know who is going to die. This is so typical Bioware that it cease to surprise me, really. Act 2 is supposed to be good, I heard.

And I'll love to hate Merrill,that's for sure. I have a burning abhorrence/hatred against the overly cute/oblivious but dumb piece of archetype bread. I have encountered them for years in every second Anime and loathe them with passion. And it doesn't bode well for that *Dalish* either, because every time I heard something coming out of her mouth so far, I felt the overbearing urge to facepalm. *whistles*

Anyway, Alistair. I'm currently writing up the pre-stage of him to fall in love within my story. It is really endearing to see him trip over his words when Lenya is near, and all that confusion that follows to that. But what is more interesting is that he can be a really bold guy at times, especially in banters between the two. *off to write on*

That's the main issue for most people who hate it (or want to hate it). Perhaps if they had called it Dragon Age: Exodus as they originally meant to, it would've help establish the fact that it's a different game in the same universe, and not a real sequel.

At any rate, DA2 is awesome and Merrill is full of cute...

Merrill is quite sweet - I like her accent. Then again, I've got Welsh ancestry so I guess I ought to like it! I'm very torn as to whether my future male character will romance her or Isabella. ! My current character is female and I want to romance Anders but he wasn't encouraging when I got those options so far - Fenris, however, seemsto quite appreciate the flirty options, which is slightly annoying cos I like Anders far more. I think the game still works as a sequel in terms of content, it just looks different in certain ways. Very much looking forward to seeing the Origins charactesr who get cameo appearances.

She's not any of that. You'll see. I suppose she could be taken that way. But really she's pretty happy go lucky, decisive, determined, and smart.

I would not call it cute at all.
Plus I have been corrupted by that damn Welsh Maleficar so badly.

Not that, it is a bad thing though.

I'm not thrilled with the elf changes but they do match up with Gaider's book a bit better (large strange eyes). But Merril is just...omg so adorable I want to hug her.  Definitely one of my favorite companions. So is 'Bela, don't you be messin with her KoP Katie likes her BFF

Oh, I saw. I'm on my second playthrough. I already finished,  with Anders in game one. Now I have a rogue Hawke with Fenris. I am having trouble getting all my companions evenly used however, so this playthrough is my "get to know Bela" and so far I adore the woman. Though I'll be romancing Fenris.

Wwo, I;'m only the Deep Roads with my first character! Then again I have spent a lot of time in wandering about and doing as many side quests as possible. and I redid a few bits due to bad decision making. I'm hoping to romance Anders with my warrior who mostly uses direct/nasty dialogue choices with a few of the others thrown in but I've noticed that I have to be less harsh than I would like to win over Anders whe it comes to mage issues - using Bethany as my excuse for that! I should perhaps have saved Anders for the good mage I was planning - oh well, we'll see how it goes - I may pick Fenris instead.

On an on-topic note, my meeting with drunk Alistair was cool but made me sad. It will be good to see him later on as king via a different character.

I'm not looking forward to seeing him. This is my Queen Cousland import, and since romance flags are either purposely ignored, or bugged, I detest his parting comment as it stands. I certainly hope if it's a bug they fix it.

My Queen Cousland hasn't finished Awakening yet and since I wanted to play a bad/opportunistic character and my Queen is a good character, I felt she was best off waiting for character no. 2.
