I'm not sure if I should be D'awwing over those adorable eyes or to be frightened by them.

Edit : DA2 Alistair ToP. Oh God, I'm going to get jumped for posting this abomination.

I prefer a more visually unique look to a game then typical looks really.

Still why do some elves have interesting looks while others are just... GAH.

What the hell is up with your face! should not be what first comes from my mouth.

What's that name of that Dalish Elf everyone hates because he's ugly in Origins?
Yeah he should've been in DA2.
Tamlen? I think it's Tamlen.
All Dalish characters weren't that memorable, sorry.

I'm getting use to the elves. but yeah I got to act 2 with Merril and was like HUH? but then somehow I managed to get Sab to start falling for me after I've flirted with every male that the game would let me. Still haven't come across Alistair yet but my play time has been reduced to 2 hrs a day so it might be a while yet.

Right, Cammen. He is so dreamy.

 My companions won't follow me into combat. Like, they just freeze far away behind me and I end up having to BRING them the opponents (aka they follow me back to my party) to "activate" my companion's fighting.
... My Hawke is not amused.

Besides this and small glitches I like the game!
But I like video games too, so I suppose I'm biased too.

On a side note - QUESTS! EVERYWHERE!

Elysis maybe you have hold position on. There's a toggle button on the left side of the screen and it has a hotkey. If hold position is on your allies behave in the manner you describe.

I play on 360 and already checked the hold position mode - It's off!

Maybe my companions are cowards. Or they just don't like my sarcastic b*tch Lady Hawke.
You know who always followed me into combat?

You might want to double-check their tactics to see if they're turned off or set to passive or other options that might make them seem like... cowards.

Hi guys! I've been hiding from the forums until I got my first playthrough of DA2 done, which I just finished up, yesterday.

Anywho, I have a question (and forgive me if the answer is buried in past posts lol). Has anyone done an Alistair as Warden/in love with the Hero of Ferelden import into DA2, yet? If so, can you PM me? I've got a couple of questions about that import (don't want to ask them here for fear of spoilers).

I'm not thrilled with the elf changes but they do match up with Gaider's book a bit better (large strange eyes).

The large irides thing looks rather interesting on DAO elves

it's quite anime-like i suppose, but if that's what the "source books" say, well... Image IPB

(gratuitous Alistair in the background, admiring the oxen before they become extinct in Thedas)

DA2 can blow me. Act 3 entirely ruined the game.... There were three saving graces - Varric, my dog Bismarck, and the party banter.

Oh well, back to Origins and my beloved Companions

Sorry to hear that. I'm starting my first DA2 playthrough this weekend. Guess I won't get my hopes up.

Honestly Alisgirl, there are good moments in the game. Moments that convinced me that I was playing a Bioware game and I loved it.

Act 2, in particular, was absolutely amazing. The entire act contained more drama, character growth, and good story than any other part of the game.

Go in with low expectations though, once you hit Act 3 it begins an inexorable slide into fetid crud.

The very end of act 3 is where it gets bad.
Elsewise 90% of act 3 was okay.

But yes Act 2 was the main course.

That being said... DA2 improved so much on Origins that it just feels hollow to go back there.

I simply couldn't disagree more in every respect. I went back as soon as I finished and it was great to be back. But that's for another forum. ;) I do agree that act two was good, story-wise, and parts of act three.

Eh I just find the warden a bland lump now.
Fun to play but... Hawke so so much more alive that it kinda ruined the silent PC for me.

@Giggles

Really? I personally felt that the writing, for the main plot of Act 3 at least, was taken from the hands of the fine men and women who wrote Act 2, and given to the feces covered hands of mentally deficient chimpanzees. The entire M v T plot was ruined by the constant declaration that M was not evil but every M you met was and that the T are just trying to help but every T you meet except Cu and Ca and Ka are all murderous bastards.

I understand they were trying to show the dichotomy between two opposing sides, but the reality of the impact in the game was that I, as Hawke, was handed two bowls of sh!t to choose between. The only difference between those bowls was that one was more sulfur-smelling and the other one glowed with so much self righteousness that it could power every solar driven piece of equipment for 10,000,000 years.

Agreed with you that Act 2 was the best part of the game.

and really? While I do admit that the combat mechanics being increased speed wise was nice, the amazingness of Varric and his manly chest hair, and some funnier dialogue were all improved upon from Origins (along with the Art direction except for the elves... bastardized Nav'ii) I still prefer Origins for its story and dialogue and protagonist.  OH! and not walking into the same cave or mansion three hundred effing times..... :alien:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back to Alistair and his amazingness.
I think I'm going to make a female character for the first time and go for the Romance.... maybe.
Except that they took him out of first person constantly, which was really distancing, especially in conversations. And he said and did things I didn't want tell him to do, taking him away from my character. He was an NPC that I had more control over, not 'me.'
I thought the whole thing was so grim that humor fell flat, myself. I didn't find the dialogue as amusing or charming.
Have any of you played Neverwinter nights 2? I just tried it and I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to move my character effectively
I did not feel like the warden really either.
More like the evil monkey poking a guy in the back of the head and telling him what to do.
