The DA2 trailers make the templars look like the bad guys.
The actual game makes mages look like the bad guys.

I have almost finished the Act 1 now, and while I don't hate the game it is all too much like Mass Effect here...it is fun..but not much like DA to me anymore. And another thing I've noticed within my hours with F!Hawke: I miss Lenya. Badly. F!Hawke is sarcastic and snarky as well...but I feel often the need to kick her in the face for the stupid things/tone she says/has. Ugh. It's like watching another person's life unfold and I only press a few buttons for it...I really feel detached from her...so much that I don't even can call her MY Hawke...because she is Hawke..but she is not my character like Lenya is.

Also I'm kinda bored of the dialog-wheel because I do the same like in Mass Effect. I check all the dialog available on the left side then pick middle on the right side. I almost expect my Shepard jumping after some Geths/Reaper after I have chosen an option. It is so FRIKKIN SIMILAR, the animations, the reactions..just EVERYTHING of the Main PC seemed to got copied over from ME. And while that works nice for ME...it somehow takes away from DA identity. It is a pure subjective feeling...I have...but I can't overlook it due to having played ME series a million times already. It is indeed Dragon Effect. O___o

And GAWD HOW I miss snarky humor. Why are all of my companions so frikkin serious about everything? Isabella and Varrik are a bit of exception but they come not even close to the epic snark of Alistair, Morrigan, Shale and Zevran. They are a nice bunch (with exception of Fail!Anders, who creeps me out of my skin and Merrill...because I roll my eyes every time she speaks that much that I'm afraid they could get stuck in my head) but nothing special...Fenris is growing on me somehow, though and Varrik is awesome but aside that..naah. I miss my old team and to talk with them every time I wanted :( Also the Hawke I'm playing looks derpy. lol:

D:

Ah yes, the famous scene of "Dying solider on ground pleading help" that seems to be the subject of screenshots for most new wardens.

In other news Fenris is still pissing me off and Anders is still not pissing me off.

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else feel dissapointed that people don't like the game you thought was amazing?
Yes, I'm talking about Dragon Age 2.

I like it. Not as much as I liked DA:O, but I think it's a decent game.
As far as being disappointed, no. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think the main problem is that many people went into this game expecting it to be DA:O v2.0. They just need to realize that it's not, and that's ok. I hope that Bioware uses this opportunity to make the changes in the next game reflect what their fans really want based off their negative, and positive feedback.

I feel I'm a biased son of a ****, and I feel dissapointed that people didn't enjoy something the same way I did. That's why, whenever I watch a movie that I think is funny/good/sad (in that good, mushy way) with friends, I'll always ask them what they thought about the movie. Usually I get a "That piece of **** sucked", and whenever that happens I feel sort of bad that they didn't view the movie the same way I did.

Perhaps it's sad or disappointing yes. But I don't dwell over it.

I frequently get upset that my sister or friends won't play DA because they say "There is too much talking!" But....the only thing I can do is say "Welp, your loss!" and move on. That's why I've turned to the forums, actually. So I have others to squee with :)

I just started act 3 in DA2. So far it's an okay game but I miss not being able to talk to my companions out and about. Also the fact that poor Alyra looks like an elf hater. She has both Fenris and Merril hating her guts. Managed to get Anders to move in without flirting and Choirboy is in total friendship despite being Pro-mage. so go figure.

Anyway Youngest son is playing now so I'm going to go back to Origins and get a romance fix. At least Alistair will kiss my warden in public and makes me feel like there is a romance going on.

C'mon, guys, this is getting ridiculous. This isn't the DA2 forum. You should start a thread for this over there. If you keep this up, you're going to get the thread shut down.

Some Alistair pictures to bring things back on topic--recycled, I'm afraid.

So I was thinking while I started another Origins playthrough this afternoon (because at this point I'm not touching DA2 again for another few months) and I got to Alistair in Ostagar.

I understand that as a former Templar he has reason to be cautious of mages, but how is it that every mage at Ostagar knows that he is a former templar and that him being sent by the Grand Cleric was such an insult? I mean, it's not like he has a facebook page that reads his former occupation.... is there a sort of marker or invisible tattoo that only mages can see that lets them know "TEMPLAR!! KEKEKE RUSH IT AND KILL IT WITH FIRE AND SNARKY GLARES!!!" or do you think they recognized him from any time he might have spent at the Circle?

I think the Grand Cleric may have made no secret of the fact that he was a former Templar because her aim is actually to get the mages' backs up... Yes Elemena is that devious...

For one thing, he's carrying a templar shield.

Nice decap!
Here's another one. Alistair isn't one to stick around to admire his handiwork, he just moves on to the next thing to kill....

I do humbly apologize, silly me got carried away. I shall return to the Fenris thread because theres no way in hell I'll have any more Alistair screenshots to spam over here since I am done with Origins. I mean let's face it after 8 playthroughs theres not much more to do. Later:)

Reading your story is such a bummer now that they went and screwed with Anders so much. I wish we could have just remembered him the way he was.

Edit - is the pic from part 2?

I can't say that I'm not disappointed at how much part two is going to have to change to accomodate DA2, and what that will mean for the characters. Still, there's the possibility of some good drama in that. But yeah.... Part one is now bittersweet in a way that was never my intent.

My timeline will be off, but my intent with this was not to make it more than slightly AU, so I'm going to have to go that direction..

Just discovered that the original gush thread is still available to be read. I think part of my brain wanted to believe that it was unavailable...

What caption comes to mind here? Anyone? Anyone?

Image IPB

For me it's "I'm gonna f_ck your skull!" and the idea of OOC Alistair yelling it at a bunch of undead is just cracking me up.

Also good, but doesn't take advantage of the body language ;)

I am really wishing I'd bought this game early last year. Missed so much and now everybody is off playing DA2.
