FF.net is still broken, so I guess no update today either. Meh.
Have played a bit of DA2 today and can say that Fenris is growing on me...not as much as the DA:O chars but he is actually the first I care about in this game and therefore I'm curious how his story will play out. His fangirls are scary though.. O___O

You know what is weird? I'm completely bored by DA2 already...yet I keep playing it. Whether it is the hope it gets better later on or the "car accident"- theory I can't say for sure. Lol.

You know Meril, I can just predict your reaction on what triggers the "final battle" or whatever (if you haven't already read spoilers that is). It's going to be an epic facepalm, OR a violent head-desk. Or both.
EDIT : I also want to add that the second I finished DA2, I launched Origins right after for an Ali fix, and then after that ME1 for a Kaidan fix. Amongst other things.

I think both. Lol.
While I avoided spoiler for the end, I heard a few things about it...and none of them were good. Well I guess this will throw me in a "FFFFF....ending!!! I can write it BETTAA" frenzy and result in countless chapters of Lenya's journey. So playing DA2 is good for one thing at least, heh. BTW I'm so attached to DA's main char that my streams of thoughts goes like that while controlling Hawke:
"Oh that tidbit what Merrill said, I can use for Lenya in the next chapter....
*Hawke makes a joke* Lenya wouldn't crack such lame jokes.
Where is Lenya? I miss playing her.
Who the hell is THAT woman I'm directing through the game here?
Lenya would kick Hawke's ass.
Why should I care for Hawke's family? It's a Bioware game, ffs. Everyone knows that the family dies FIRST. I'm glad that Lenya has no family they could kill.
*listening to banter* Oh Merrill mentioned Mahariel...*squee*
...3 yrs later ? I wonder what Lenya is doing now in Amaranthine.
*someone mentions Wardens* Squeeee. How I miss playing a Warden.
When does the Alistair Warden cameo finally comes...how long have I still to play on for that?"
Umm...yeah. Hawke? Totally attached to her and her story of rising to power.

Pardon the "scary fenris fangirl" intrusion but yes, rivalmances are hot. This totally should have been an option with Alistair, then I wouldn't have had to make nicey nice decisions that he'd approve of to romance him.

It would have been out of character for Alistair, though. Personally, I like it when characters have strong enough opinions about things to be 'get the hell away from me.' If anything, I think they should have taken that further, but that would be pretty hard to do withougt people feeling like they're being punished for their gameplay choices.
It isn't dislike, thats the mistake I see people making constantly when talking about the system. it's disagreement while still respecting the other person. It's not always agreeing on whats right and wrong but still caring, still being friends, and still falling in love despite those differences, and driving each other up the wall sometimes. You know, like umm...life? I mean I certainly do not agree with my husband on everything. I think some of what he believes is wrong, and vice versa. We argue, but we have been in love for almost 20 years.

I really felt the respect during the cutscene after I save his life and he thanks me by talking about how he's once again in my shadow.
~~~~~~
It might be different with LIs, but from the Rivarlys I got in the game, they didnt seem like they respected the character for his choices or actions. They seemed to resent him.
I'm pretty sure Carver, who had full rivalry in the playthrough I did, did not respect Hawke or his decisions in the least. He resented being in his shadow, and resented him for his magic and for being the one that everyone knew and respected for his reputation at the start of Act 1. He joined the Templars, a group thats primary purpose is to hunt down and either kill or capture Apostates/Maleficar like Hawke.
It is different for LI's it's more "gah woman you are KILLING me here!"
And errant I damned well did mention DAO and Alistair pardon me if I didn't spam a toolset picture or screenshot to go with it, because heaven forbid the only one I have is from DA2's cameo.
I though having rivalry with him would have been fun, clearly noone wants anything to do with "new" ideas.
