Hey there guys.

I've been lurking for a wee whiley now, first time poster though.
My son bought me DAO for Xmas and tbh I didn't fancy it, I'd never played an RPG before, was always an MMO'er. Oh boy! if only I'd known what a game could do to you lol.
I'm hooked!! I've played many, many play throughs (probably too many to be still sane!) and something has recently occurred to me :

-stands up and addresses the forum-
"My name is Icey and I'm an Alistarian"

I didn't want to believe it but it's true, a number of clues pointed me to have to acknowledge and accept this:

1) The rationale that its a game and only pixels has gone out the window.
2) I've started characters deliberately to NOT romance Ali and I just can't do it, I just can't!
3) I know the majority of his dialogue before he says it and look forward to instigating various stages of it.
4) I have started to really hate Morrigan and her snarkisms towards him, she is now a permanent camp ornament.
5) I started a male toon in the belief that I would be cured....dammit got as far as Lothering and missed Ali too much so male toon was ditched.
6) After countless play-throughs I'm yet to do the US, I just can't bring myself to do it

There are more reasons and Im sure none point towards a great deal of sanity on my part, now I wonder if this is accepted behaviour (reading this forum it's a definate possibility!) or if there is perhaps a therapy group for the likes of us, my husband really thinks I've gone soft in the head lol. He plays too now and he's a Morrigan groupie but he plays the "lift her and lay her" attitude with no emotional bonding atall -sigh-.so he just doesn't get me atall lol.

The question is though, Do I actually need help?

@Merilsell thanks for the explanation we had upgraded to a new computer and I have not had the chance to change my desktop back to the my streaming Alistair pics (which I love and annoy my hubby). As for your Fan Fic, I love it. I have it in my Favs.

I keep making characters with the intention of NOT romancing Alistair. I'd like to see how things would fo with a Leliana romance, and I've made characters to woo her with but they still go to Alistair. 'Tis unfortunate because Leliana is adorable and needs some lovin'. I was actually going to make a male toon for her.

OH! And I have no shame. I wrote a bit of fanfiction about the Dark Ritual. It's got some racy bits and vulgar language so I'm going to say it's NSFW unless your workplace is super awesome. Alistair/Amell romance.

After writing it, I actually feel bad for Morrigan. At least in this context.

I had "Warning" by Incubus on loop while I wrote the ending.It's so fitting.

I have one male character who is a Dalish elf (what else ) and I have played with him the Morrigan romance because to me Dalish/Morrigan = perfect fit. It was quite heartbreaking, bittersweet and very much enjoyable. Then again he is my only male character and I have up to date still to find a F!PC who will romance Zevran from start to finish, instead of Alistair. Will maybe make a Cousland for him because all my elves are belong to Alistair (as a well-known meme says) Also I'm kind of a Cousland/Zevran shipper because it is racier this way.

Good story, Retro. I really enjoy your Amell who is all but a meek mouse. I have a thing for such Wardens. (As everyone can see with Lenya, I suppose )

I made a male character last night and got really frustrated with the character creator. I'm going with a Cousland because I find it so hard to get a male elf to look decent. Or maybe I just suck with the character creator. Named him River.

There's something a tad effeminate about him. And trust me, he looks worse without the goatee. I blame it on the eyebrows but all the other ones are much, much worse.

Anyway, I'm glad you like my fic. I'm actually working on reading all of yours and I think you write beautifully. I like how you show us exactly what's going through her head. Lenya is no Mary-Sue.

Oh, no! Y'know, if you have to spend money anyway, you might want to upgrade your computer to be able to play DA on it, instead of PS3

Truth.

Check the specs on your current computer. The requirements to run DA aren't that high. I run it on an older "multimedia" laptop, which is basically the nicer way of saying it's a low-end gaming laptop. And I can turn the settings on just about max.

I agree that they'd be good together under those circumstances. There are things that they each could learn from the other, and both would be rather lonely, I think, even if Alistair didn't romance or get along with the warden.

I am one of the opinion that Leliana and Alistair make a better pairing. I think Bethany is more likely to look at Alistair as a funny older brother.
