Which is perfectly wrong attitude to take, incidentally. Using this logic and how DA2 writing was received we could be looking forward to Mr.Gaider "not trying so hard" with DA3. And that approach will clearly fly so much better...TS2Aggie wrote...
Believe me, they know. David Gaider made a bitter post not too long ago about how [female designer] had tried so hard to get Alistair's face right in the new engine and if they'd only known how much people would hate her efforts, she probably shouldn't have tried so hard.

I agree, as well. As much as I dislike the look of Alistair in DA2 he is completely recognizable. I do appriciate that they tried to make him look like Alistair and not some guy that they tell us is Alistiair.

About Alistair's face, I thought it looked appropriate enough in the sense that he looked older and somewhat weary (fitting for all his cameos really). Though I agree that they did a better job with Cullen.

There's a reason why she's the "cheap" option Schratty.
Oh, so now they're insulting my clown hooker fetish. I am thoroughly offended D:<
LOL

I'm just not a fan of their representation of Alistair in DA2. That and the fact that Hawke doesn't have the option to mount Cullen are probably my two biggest greviances with the game. So, yeah, pretty superficial

I think it's to large degree the lighting in spots where he appears that does the character disservice. There's no decent light sources to put some good contrast of light and shadow to the features, only ambient and not even much of that.Esbatty wrote...
I thought it was an accurate "6 years later" "Throne Weary" Alistair. Ya know, since he's not fighting Darkspawn for all those years, combined with stress, and a comfort food/cheese heavy diet. Besides he needed some meat on his bones.
Someone should put his morph on another guy and see what it's like in a place with normal lighting instead.

Hmm, to satisfy my own curiosity; DA2 king Alistair in more normal lighting looks more or less like this:
Now that pic of Ali doesn't look half bad - however - the pic above has far better clarity and detail than what appears in game. He appears much slimmer in the face and his cheekbones are far more defined here. Still, it cannot compare to how handsome of a character they were able to create in DA:O.

He looks decent there - time to get the pitchforks & torches after the lighting people!!
Yes, it doesn't make much sense to spend so much time trying to replicate a face and then showcase it - exclusively - in craptastic lighting.

That's as bad as DA2 Zevran!
