@rak, @tsm -- Loving the Duncanstair mod but I don't like how PT Replacement changes all the other eye colors as well. Is there a way to have only Alistair's colors change (and those NPCs with his same eye color, I assume)? Would I just remove all others from the Replacement folder? Do I have to update the changemorph (sp?) file to reflect that? Thanks

In my game, the Hazel eyes looked like a nice light brown with the PT replacement. People who didn't have it in were saying the looked muddy. I changed a bunch of eye colors to light brown. I think the Duncanstair uses Lgt brown. I think if you just take out the eyecolor replacements, it will still look good. I don't think you need to change the Charmor because the replacements aren,t adding anything, just changing what is already there.

Here are the facts I'm aware of (N00BS—MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD):
* gave Alistair to the Chantry at Isolde's insistence
* made Alistair sleep in the stables when he lived in Redcliffe
* made Alistair sleep with the dogs when he visited Denerim
* tried to convince Cailan to dump Anora and have a political marriage with Empress Celene
Am I missing anything else? To me he seems a royalist but not necessarily an arse, as the first three items can be explained in other ways (e.g., he's whipped/Isolde wears the pants). Just wondering if there are any other FACTS that I've missed or forgotten.

Where's this conversation about Alistair sleeping with the dogs in Denerim? I don't remember this :X
As for my opinion... I may not like Eamon all of what he did to Alistair, but the true fault lies with Alistair's father. Like Alistair said, Eamon didn't HAVE to do even that much, and perhaps felt that he couldn't do more or it would risk suspicion ("WHY is Arl Eamon supporting some kid and treating him like a prince?"). I give him props for at least making sure Alistair was taken care of, and it seems like his heart was in the right place to a certain degree.

Though that said, I've certainly read stories elsewhere about royal bastards having to sleep in the stables (I'm thinking in particular of Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy).

I think it's an Alister dialogue when you first go to Denerim? He talks about remembering when he was there as a child. It has to be relatively early, because I've had it but haven't got to Landsmeet yet.

I don't quite hate on him like others do but to tell the truth he did very little to improve his nephew's hard lot... Not that he was primarily responsible. The prime responsibility belongs with the parents: Yes Maric King of Ferelden; Yes Fiona, mage of the circle and grey warden, I'm looking at you... Why didn't you do as proper parents should and take personal care of your offspring or at least check on him now and then? You both had a certain status, seems to me neither of you bothered to use it for your SON.
Anyways, Eamon is a tool... So he gets him a nice young trophy wife and uses her as an excuse to mistreat an innocent child... Not good. Then he tries to use him as a political instrument, unforgiveable given the fact that he initially abdicated all responsibilty for him by dumping him with the Chantry...
No-one comes out well in this tale in my view. Only Alistair himself who is still, despite everything, a very decent human being.

-His total disdain and lack of concern for Alistair as a person. Alistair is so incredibly damaged, and IMO, a huge portion of blame for the insecurity, neediness, defense mechanisms and lack of self-worth falls squarely on Eamon's shoulders. He accepted responsibility for the welfare of a child, and he shirked that responsibility when it became inconvenient. (As did both of Alistair's bio-parents. I'd hate on Maric too, if he were still around, FWIW.)
-He is either so incompetent or distant in his own familial relationships that he was oblivious to what was going on with his own wife and child. That, of course, results in the decimation of Redcliffe, and the diversion of the Wardens from what they should be doing: ending the Blight.
-He's an inept machinator. He clearly craves power, but doesn't want to be the 'face' for any of it, lest it go wrong. (And yes, I understand that is a function of the game's mechanics.)
-Something I forgot mid-thought because I had to answer the phone... it'll come to me, and I'll add it later.

As it was, Alistair was sometimes treated as part of the family and sometimes just as a servant's child.

Also, Maric was still alive right up through the time that Alistair went to the Chantry. I don't belirve that he didn't have a major voice in what happened to Alistair. And it wasn't Maric buying Alistair golem toys, it was Eamon. I think Maric wanted Alistair at the Chanty for some reason, and Isolde was just the reason a small boy come up with. If it was only about Isolde, Alistair could have gone to Teagan. Blaming Eamon for Isolde's fear of having a mage in the family, and for her lies, doesn't make much sense to me, nor for the results of Loghain poisoning him. If anyone created the Redcliffe situation, it was Loghain, with some help from Isolde.

So...yeah...I'm a noob. I may not know all the ins and outs, so be patient with me. But I'm tired of lurking in the shadows and I want to gush over Alistair with other gamers!
