@ali - Stabby toy = Grey Warden letter opener, though he also found a miniature wizard's mage's staff made of lucite with pink-and-silver sparkly stuff suspended inside it, like a floaty pen. Best thing ever, though, was when I was playing Morrowind and he gave me a Moon-and-Star pendant to commemorate my PC becoming the Nerevarine. Like you said, he's a keeper...

Dreams... If you can figure out a way to Fraps my brain, you are welcome to whatever it spits out! (And if I can look like Natalie Wood while it's happening, that would be a plus.) This being a SFW venue, suffice to say I've had a few Alidreams that I recalled well enough to write down; some of them even involve clothing. Sadly the most notable dream was a very vivid, very unpleasant reunion ca. 9:35 Dragon of an estranged King Alistair and my dumped Loghain-recruiting Surana. I was able to wring 30 cringeworthy pages o' weepy accusatory finger-pointing hate-rant angst out of what I remembered, and was really glad that I had replayed her ending, dead with SadAlistair eulogy being a far better resolution to that story.

Although it does mean I have to install my mods all over again, and I can't remember how I got some of them to work together (especially ones with multiple chargenmorphs that overwrite each other). A tip: I simple copied my entire Bioware Folder out of My Documents into the My Documents Folder on my new Rig and copied my Installation Folder of DAO on an external HD and started up the game. Worked like a charm, mods included.

@persephone: Yeah, I would rather eat the family pet than have to reinstall DA:O. Copying the folders, as you suggested, works quite well.

@ali - Agreed, kissy shots are hard to get. And hugs that don't have something clipping through one body part or another. Owwww! The dream-inspired fic is an unedited, unpublished extremely rough first draft squirreled away on a thumb drive, and likely to remain so until I learn how to write some non-hackneyed descriptive bits to go around the talking bits. I do have some shorter, more polished things I'm trying to screw up the courage to "publish", though.  /famous last words

Re: cavorting with pixel men... there are compensations for the boyfriend to my spending the day trying to get them out of their armor. He got quite a greeting when he got home last night, is all I'll say about that.

On topic, I had to go back farther than I thought to get around the "you're handsome" dialogue. I'm trying to decide if I really want to go back that far or not...

Thanks...I had too much time on my hands, so I edited and uploaded all the Lenya pics I had so far. Have still to upload a good bunch, lol.

This particular pic is from capturing the (modded) kiss scene, or rather the moments before. Yay for Fraps 1 second intervall of photo-making  I really love his expression, Dahlia did such wonderful work with the kiss scene, like everything else. <3 I have another one, which is slightly altered:

I finally got one of my best friends addicted to Dragon Age!  Haha!  Now I know someone in RL that I can talk with.  She doesn't seem to love Alistair as much, though.  Meh.  I'll give her some more time with out pushing it.  I know that once her character starts a romance with him, there will be no going back for her!   Mwahahahaha!

Okay, I'm submitting my first screen shot.  Sorry about the low res...stupid computer.  Anyways, I gave in and downloaded Duncanstair and I'm completely loving it!  I think I'll try the blond one, though...I want his hair a bit lighter...closer to the original color.  His eyes are STILL coming in black, though.  :-(  Even PT's Vibrant Eyes replacer doesn't seem to show with my low res settings.  Oddly, the Zevran mod that I have has the amber eyes showing up just fine???  I wish I was more technical so I knew what to mess with to get the amber eyes to show up for Alistair.

@java That's nice, and yes, she will fall, muahaha. Well, maybe not. Women who don't, really confound me. Someone posted on Tumblr that she had done 5 PTs and never romanced him and I'm just, o.O Then again she seems to only play male characters who romance male characters. But there's a mod for that. ????? Oh well, this is a sickness and I shouldn't wish it on others.

OMG I poked around the beginning of this thread and saw those. Eye bleach required! But thanks for the "bad pics permitted" notice.

@java_jive_girl - love the Duncanstair! I'll have to consider that mod... for later. At the moment I'm loving him just the way he is.
Have you tried bumping up the graphics to medium and seeing what happens? Or is that not even an option for you? I only ask because the game defaulted to "low" for me and I'm now running it on "very high" with no problems. Medium is all you need to see eye colors.

@alisgirl  I can't imagine playing 5x and not romancing Alistair! He is so adorable. Though I will say, playing through as a male character, I really did enjoy the Zevran romance. Totally different experience, but awesome in its own way. Pity all the gushy bits happen so close to the endgame, though. It would have been nice to have him in love for more of the game.

I did finally go back to pre-"You're handsome" so that I could have the lamp post discussion and be called beautiful to start the romance off. MUCH nicer that way. Glad I did it.

Haha, my Aedan romanced Morrigan and had Zev on the side. He's a bit of a turd. I didn't even mean for him to come out that way, but I unwittingly picked the aggressive voice, and voila! Instant turd. I agree that it would be nicer to have the Zev romance spread out a bit more.

Good morning all! Getting in some playtime before the boy gets up and we have to work on house stuff.

@alisgirl - I have pondered letting Zev flirt with Lia a bit, just so I can see the "you have to choose" dialogue. Besides, you have to shut Zev down pretty specifically if you DON'T want him to flirt... and I think Lia would like the extra attention. Especially since Alistair is all gentlemanly and reticent.

I have Zevran mostly as best friend. Sometimes I flirt but more often I don't. I love Zevran, but since I'm so fixed on my Canon Warden atm, (and I doubt that will change soon due to my neverending FF) he doesn't get any Warden love. Must someday play through his romance from start to finish, though. I haven't install his romance mod for nothing, after all.

I actually quite enjoyed the Zevran romance. It plays very differently, of course, but I like that there are different types of options available. For Zevran it's more "this is all for fun, hey wait, maybe there's more to it after all." It would be better if the turn happened a little bit earlier in the game, IMO, but it's still nice. What does the Zev romance mod do? Is it the kiss-anywhere mod that I have heard tell about?

But to put things back on the topic of Alistair... this is as close to Alistair-Warden love as I got in my last playthrough (stuck in a dungeon... naked, for some reason. My my.).

anyone else play awakenings and feel that Anders was a poor Alistair immitation?

I don't want to travel down the road, since I have no desire to have foaming Fanders at my back, but I actually liked Anders in DA:A, whereas in DA2 he is totally and utterly creeping me out. I didn't get that feeling about Anders but I know it was common. The way he was hitting on everything that moved and his utter lack of concern for things greater than his own situation made him different enough for me that I didn't see him as an Alistair clone despite the similarities in appearance and sense of humor.

Won't get into DA2 except to say that several characters felt one-dimensional to me (as I saw it written, 'I HATE MAGES,' 'MAGE REVOLUTION,' 'FYEAH BLOOD MAGIC,' etc.).
