He's at the funeral as Anora's armcandy, basically.

HATE.

Friends do not let friends marry Anora.

 I completely agree with this statement.

At any rate, We've expanded the hug mod to include Fergus, Bryce and Eleanor. This is very much a WIP, we are both cutscene editor newbs.=]

Also, I did at one time have GW Alistair present at my funeral, but barely visible. I remember because I was slightly surprised. I think I was a mage?

^^ Great job on the hugs, very glad to see more.

Having finally played a male warden I just cracked up laughing at Alistair's reaction to my Warden/Morrigan kiss...

And Lenya is finally dressed again, yay for that. Although Alistair might be a sad puppy about it xD

Does GW Alistair show up at the PC's funeral, whether he's romanced or not? I didn't see him there when I did the US.

No, I think not. IMO he can't bear it to see the woman he loved lying dead there and it's understandable. In the epilogue it's said that he returns to the Wardens for a time but feels the loss of his love too keenly, that he eventually vanished from Ferelden. He's utterly and unfixable broken.

I have written a sappy FF about that ending btw. (note to myself: revise it one day )

Dunno about unromanced Alistair, because such a thing simply doesn't exist in my world :P ...but I don't think he's present.

I can see Alistair being broken by losing the warden.

I mean he could not protect Duncan, a father figure to him and that nearly broke him.

Not saving the woman he loves, and the person he holds closest, well as my World religions prof says: Thats the elephant that broke the fleas back.

If I were in his shoes I could not be anywhere near there, most likely I would start walking and not stop. Once again I went to my sad place.

I like getting into charachters heads, and Alistair's is an interesting place to sift through.

I also think that losing the warden pretty much destroys everyone but Morrigan.

Leliana will commit suicide, or dissapear if hardened.

Zevran will go back to a life he hates, and wonder if ruling the crows is good or a loss.

Alistair dissappears as well, unless he is king.

Without the warden many of the Companiona are hit hard by it.

And I kind of think that a King Alistair that romanced the Warden is strictly there out of duty; I wouldn't think there'd be much joy in his life.  Of course, none of the companionsare in mentally great shape to when they join the Warden, so maybe it's not surprising they collapse.

I am reminded of this quote, as it relates to Alistair's view of duty and how he will try to take the final blow for the Warden on top of Fort Drakon, irregardless of how much or how little he likes them.:

"Death is lighter than a feather, duty heavier than a mountain."

In a lot of cases, dying like this might be far easier for him than living on to take a burden he doesn't want without anyone left to care about or for him.  Thought/opinions?

I believe one of the things he says on Fort Drakon if he's "still in love" with that warden but not together says a lot. When you ask him if this is what he really wants he says "What I really want is to stay with you, but I don't get that either way, so this....this works better." :(

I think you're probably right.  Though I also think a lot of it has to do with his romanticized view of the wardens and what that title means to him.

Throughout the game he seems to be trying to live up to his idealized view of Duncan and how he thinks he would have handled things.  So to that end, I think taking the final blow and stopping the blight is probably the ultimate realization of his goal in a way.  In his mind it is an easy choice because it's what Duncan would have done.

IMO that would be more motivating for him than worrying about leading a lonely life as a king.  I mean, if this thread is any indication, the guy wouldn't stay single for long

Absolutely.  In my FF he is very much of the belief that he is living out days to which he really has no right since he obtained them via the DR.  When you look at Alistair's character from a certain POV he is destined to die on the roof of Fort Drakon, everything in his life points to that.

I love that quote. It really says it all, in terms of Alistair. Death frees him, gives his life meaning, redeems him, and it's easy and done, without all the pain and struggle of going on living in a world that doesn't really fit the ideals he wants to keep. In my FF, he has to come to terms with real life vs ideals, and it's a very bitter pill to swallow. His burdens are great. And that's just if he's king. If he's not king, and didn't do the sacrifice, and especially if your PC did, then in his mind, he really has nothing to live for, he failed. It's really so sad.

And I can't have sad on Lampost Smut Thursday. So instead I'll leave that with a very happy picture :D

He also isn't quite sure who he's getting involved with here. They need a much bigger blood mage reveal, something he throws a fit about.

Yeah when he talks to the guardian he fells like life would be so much better if he were not in the world...He seems to want to complete the circle and die as Duncan had.  I found during one of my playthroughs that if I did the DR and saved myself and him he seems happy, but if you make other choices (put Anora on the Throne, no DR, Spare Loghain) he seems to switch off the rest of his emotions and either he runs away or he defeats the AD.  It is sad to think that he just gives up (if you make certain choices).Posted Image
