...Wait a second... Where is Alistair?

....Alistair is such a freaking showoff, levitating around Ostagar like that!

Aw, shucks!
But seriously we like FF around here. In fact, we have weekly prompts where someone proposes a 'theme', and then people post an Alitair-related story/art/whatever based on that theme in the thread. This week's theme is 'Temptation'. We'd love for you to join in on the shenanigans if you feel so inclined!

I'm enjoying romping around Ostagar, especially with the new mod showing off the Grey Warden Armor introduced in DA2. Alistair shows up in it automatically...

Great pic- where was this shot taken?
*thinks* That's in the Redcliffe Chantry, during the conversation with Kaitlyn.

tsm (who wonders how it is that Alistair's morph got swapped out that early in the game, since that usually happens after we've been to Denerim for the 1st time)

OK... I can't stand it any more... why, oh WHY does Alistair lag so far behind in experience points???? In my current playthrough, he's 5800 xp behind my Cousie. I'm to the point where I'm ready to *gasp* enable the console. Please help!!

Bev
Do you have the "No Kill Steal" mod loaded?
Here's how XP is divvied up in Dragon Age: Origins (taken from Project page):
"Normally in DA:O, only the killer gets full XP, everyone else gets a bit less. 95% if they are present, 90% if they are dead or in camp, if you're curious."
With the No Kill Steal mod, everyone gets 100% XP all the time. I use it shamelessly, but then I play at Nightmare with Slinks Ravage at Nightmare+ 5 level because I am insane.
Anyway, I'd try that mod...
Also, have you done the Urn of Sacred Ashes yet? There's a documented XP exploit in that area that you could search for, if you're desperate...

My experience is that Alistair will always be slightly more than a full level behind the PC in experience.

I'd kind of noticed it before, but it hadn't been as apparent as it is now, possibly because I'm trying to do a completionist playthrough this time.theskymoves wrote...

If you are close to full level when you meet him, then you'll basically maintain this margin over time if you always keep the companion in the party as you'll gain the xp at similar rate.BevH wrote...

I can't remember if the companions auto-level to your own level or just to the one below if they're allowed to fall too far behind, but if it's the former then that could be a way for him to catch up -- park him for a bit, then bring him into the party as soon as you level up yourself.
That said, it's not like a single level of difference is much of actual difference at all.

Hmm... if I remember correctly, I was about half a level behind him when I met him. I didn't do anything in Ostagar until I had him in the party... not even unlocking a chest. The only time he wasn't with me was the Fade in the Broken Circle quest. And now my PC is almost a full level ahead of him. Strange...tmp7704 wrote...

That might mean you've been the killer of a lot more enemies than he has, and if you're running a completionist run, that's a lot more enemies. That extra 5%/10% XP you get with every enemy *you* kill vs everyone else does add up over time...
