Lol I can imagine that.
Though I have to admit, were I Goldanna, I would be even worse. I'd kick Alistair's ass out of my house.
Seriously, what would you do if a guy you've never seen before knocked on the door and said "Oh hi there! I'm your brother! The king, my daddy, forced himself on your mother, who was his servant! Your mother died in childbirth, right? Well, I'm that babe! Yeah, the one they told you was dead, the reason why you were sent to big town quite alone with few only few coins! I don't know anything about you, I don't know if you're married, divorced or a widow, I don't knwo anything about your children. I was too busy to find out anything besides your address. But we're family! Let's love each other like brother and sister!"
Because that's what basically happens there. I think it's the least favourite part of the game. It's absolutely unrealistic. Worse, it's plain stupid. It makes Alistair look like a total fool, and Goldanna like a harpy, turns both of them into simple caricatures. And then the Warden tops it all with the most stupid 'hardening' line about everyone being on his own. When the whole game is about that you need help of the others to survive. All my Wardens are offended by that line. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angry.png[/smilie]
Yeah. At least IRS:Alistair helps soften the blow of the dumb hardening line by offering a couple of different options that are appropriate to someone in a romance with Alistair. But the concept in general (not the hardening, any true Alistairian would approve of that *twelve-year-old tklivory runs off*), but the particular method. It's a little *ALISTAIR WANTS FAMILY SOO BAD* hitting over the head method to get the player's attention.
I remember in a discussion of this elsewhere (perhaps earlier in this thread, heh) when the issue of what would have been better came up. I think the consensus was that it should have been Redliffe events (with Eamon/Isolde/Connor) that led to a hardening dialogue with Alistair, as
1) Those were more 'family' than Goldanna was
2) Were more important to his life than Goldanna ever could be
3) Were more appropriate 'hardening' choices in terms of the difficult nature of the decisions (kill Isolde, kill Connor, run off and leave everyone undefended in hopes nothing happens)
The problem is that the whole 'Goldanna' thing boils down to a pure "Game Mechanics" issue (the which I've complained about in an ENTIRE THREAD here on BSN, so I won't bore ya'll now). I mean, at least Leliana's 'hardening' dialogue/event ties in with her *actual* background story.

So, yeah, Goldanna will remain a grousing point for Alistairians for all time.
