But then I figured all humans looked the same (my char was a city elf) and I was curious about his argument with the mage. I listened apprehensively, carefully trying to hold off all judgements until I got a better feel for his personality, but when he said to my character, "One good thing about the Blight is how it brings people together," I thought "FINALLY! SOMEONE WHO SPEAKS MY LANGUAGE!"
I'd already set up my character as a sassy snarker before learning of Alistair's existence, so learning they had so much in common was a pleasant surprise. I guess I was struck with his resemblence to Cailan and his awesome sense of humour.

Of course now I can't imagine him any other way. I've actually started finding those features attractive in men I meet in RL now.

The plan for the mod is for all Wardens in any romance to have the ability to go to sleep with any love interest, alone or with Dog, and wake up to a camp morning sunrise for a new day of adventures in Thedas. At one point in time if requirements are met, Alistair will experience the nightmare, be it Warden friend or lover. Eventually other scene designers/modders will be invited to add on their own scenes for NPCs if all goes well.
Thanks to Sunjammer for his ingenious script work and Cuvieronius for his awesome level lighting and design skills, this can actually happen, and I hope once it comes out can be enjoyed by players

Also getting Redemption and Dawn of the Seeker.
Also getting Diablo III. If I waited a couple months I think I would get a discount. Oh, well.
If it weren't for the fact that you could do a Sword and Shield Barbarian I could just skip it, but I will still be trying all five characters because that's the type of guy I am.
Any Diablo players in the Alistair thread?

As for the comic, I'll probably wait until closer to release and then check in with our local comics store.

I guess they will have the SilentGrove HardCover at ComicCon. That's not fair they get theirs early.

They might have started out different, but I keep hearing from fans who have played both games that a lot of the dramatic changes in DA2 came from ME. (Voiced protagonist, 3 option dialgue wheel, the paraphrasing in the wheels, faster, more explosive and simplified combat, a pre-set human protagonist that goes by their surname, some of DA's fantasy races like elves being made to look like some of ME's alien races, extreme bipartisan conflict, etc.) And that the devs are planning on adding even more ME features in the future (like having players choose their DA3 protagonist's background history a la ME). If it's true that most, if not all features I dislike about the direction DA is going have come from ME, then I'm probably not going to like the games.
I found DA2 mediocre, for many of the same reasons you did, but I'm actually enjoying Mass Effect 1 very much so far. Although Mass Effect has many of the same features as DA2, Mass Effect makes far better use of them, and it doesn't feel at all rushed or awkwardly put together. The story, to me, also feels far more similar to DA:O than DA2. The combat in ME1, however, isn't much like either DA:O or DA2, and if you don't enjoy shooters, you might not enjoy that part of the game.

I really enjoyed your work on mods like Alistair's First Night and the Cullen Romance Option, so I'm really looking forward to seeing your new mod! Keep up the great work! ^__^

I don't know. I have a friend who loves both RPG's and shooters, but he said he couldn't get into Mass Effect because it didn't have enough role-play or shooter elements to hold his attention. He said it was just a mediocre mix of the two. (Granted, some of my other friends love ME, but they also liked DA2, which doesn't lend itself to good advertising for me.)
I personally love traditional western role-playing games like NWN, and my main complaint against DA2 is that the role-playing is severely downgraded. (Pre-defined human protagonist with voiced dialogue in a mostly action game.) If ME really is like DA2 in that is has much weaker role-playing elements than DA:O, then I know right now that I'm not going to like it.
I don't mean to be harsh, but I can't think of anything in ME that would appeal to me. I love role-playing fantasy races in role-playing fantasy games (maybe humans if there are no sentient fantasy races), and I think it goes without saying that those features are absent from ME. (Can't even role-play some of those alien races.)=
I'm glad you are enjoying it, but I just don't think there anything for me in that game.

That's completely fair. So far, I'm finding Mass Effect to be far better written than DA2, but it's true that it doesn't really offer the style of role-playing that NWN and DA:O did, so it's definitely not for everyone.

Also, if I use tmp's mild romance mod, I'll need the compatible download, IRS A TMP MR compatible DAzip. Will that work without tmp's mild romance mod? Is there anything that is replaced with these two (that I might want to play through, so I don't miss something)? Or should I just leave both in all the time?
Thanks for the assistance. All this mod compatibility is slightly overwhelming.
Edit: Also will these pretty much cover the Alistair related dialogue glitches?

The tmp compatible version of IRS is not compatible with the most recent (November 2011) version of
Mild Romance Scenes, which adds a short Dark Ritual related scene. Tmp provided a workaround for using IRS with
Mild Romance Scenes in the comments on the mod download page, but it's a royal pain to remove and install mods at a critical point in the game. (A new-ish mod, The Last Night, adds a similar twist on the Dark Ritual content, and is compatible with IRS.)
The Standalone Non-tmp compatible version of IRS includes most (if not all) of the Alistair-related content from earlier versions of Mild Romance Scenes. (And I have successfully used both IRS and Mild Romance Scenes, together, by deleting all the Alistair content from tmp's mod and leaving only the Leliana files.)
Whew! Sorry if any of that is confusing... I just woke up.

edited to add that I woke up enough to realize that it's Thursday, and that this was the perfect post for dropping some 'caps like these...

@Penarddun - Each of the optional epilogue files fixes different things... one is a fix for the epilogue slides, and the other one fixes a bug in Alistair's post-coronation dialogue. None of the optional fixes are included in the main (October 2010) archive.

I think I got all that, thank you!!
So, what I'm going to do is install the optional epilogue fixes (both of them). I'm assuming the optional Party Camp mod there " Fixes "still in love" plot flag not firing during Alistair's "in love" confession." is also good to add as these are all just bugged flag/dialogue fixes?
And I will just use the Standalone non-tmp compatible version of IRS, because (if I understand correctly) most of tmp's mod is included in there. So other than the new dark ritual related scene, I have the rest pretty much covered?
One last question... will using Morrigan's restoration pack conflict with the standalone IRS? If so, does any older version of that not conflict?
Thanks again!

Yes, you have it right. Other than the new dark ritual scene, the standalone non-tmp IRS includes the exact same content as previous versions of Mild Romance Scenes. So it sounds like you've covered just about everything!
My understanding is that while older versions of Morrigan Restoration Pack DID have a conflict with IRS, the current version of MRP is compatible, as is, with IRS.
I use both IRS and MRP without any issues. (Of the other popular dialogue and flag fixes, ZDF - the Zevran Dialogue Fix - does have some files that conflict with IRS.)
And I'm glad I could help!

Does ZDF have fixes for Alistair related flags/dialogue that aren't included in IRS? I looked at ZDF here in the projects section and found the ZDF Complete and the ZDF base.
http://social.biowar...ect/2402/#files
If I'm using IRS, can I just get the ZDF base and will that not conflict as much as the complete one? The Zev fixes are not top priority but if I can get them to work I'd like to use them.
It's really incredible how much work has been put into these. Maybe 10 years from now Bioware will incorporate all the fixes into an anniversary edition or something. They definitely deserve to be in the retail game.
Awww, what a great picture!DahliaLynn wrote...
Awesome to see both halves of Alistair together today at Comic Con 2012 San Diego. (From David Gaider's Twitter)
