I did enjoy the cameos in DA2, but Alistair seemed out of place there. Like I was looking into a window showing me a snippet of DA:O and then in a few seconds it was gone. In my mind, Alistair belongs in DA:O. They fit together perfectly.
Awakening did make me believe there would be a continuation for the Warden but even his/her story should be closed at this point, or only vaguely mentioned to wrap up plot holes. I would be much more interested in hearing about new characters and how they deal with the consequences of whatever Morrigan and Flemeth were up to.

That's kind of a relief actually. I am very happy with the various endings for Alistair in DA:O and Awakening, and wouldn't want to find out that in DA3 some major canon thing happens with him that negates half the endings for the first game.

They already said companions would be a mixture of old and new so I would still expect some from both games.
Who they can be remains a mystery however.

Erk... I just remembered that I intended to buy that as soon as it came out in hard cover... which was 2 weeks ago...tklivory wrote...
I'm really hoping that DA3 is some sort of uber-cool convoluted plot that involves the Champion of Kirkwall, the Hero of Ferelden (if still alive) and the OGB. In that circumstance, and considering the events of the Silent Grove, I don't particularly see a need for Alistair to be more than a cameo or a mention, such as he was in Awakenings. A Warden Alistair, possibly, especially if the plot involves the 7th Blight (depending on the veracity of the rumors of the 6th Blight), but not the Royal Alistair.

Super strange this is happening. I'm in the Fade (first time) and my mage doesn't seem to have her default attack. She keeps trying to run up to the wisps and punch them.... I hope I didn't break the game already. I know I didn't install that many mods.
EDIT: oh, you mean at the beginning of the game? Yeah, if she doesn't have a staff, she will punch them. You have to use magic spells to kill them, or punch them to death (hopefully you chose more than just Heal). That's why you should get to Valor right away.
And yeah, it does look weird. I usually mod, so I forgot mages don't start out with a staff. Heh.

Yes! That is exactly it. Thank you!! It's been so long since I've played the mage origin I didn't remember that. Punching them to death is hilarious, now that I know it's not glitched.

I did recieve the Silent Grove hardcover but I don't know when I will get around to reading it.
About a week ago I beat Diablo on normal with a WitchDoctor. That was a hard fight. I had to look it up on youtube and ended up changing to a shield. I still enjoy playing Diablo III but now I'm trying a Barbarian.

Actually, on the actual comic book cover art, it's kinda hard to tell if it's a goatee, a soul patch, or some scraggly in between. That lighting in the picture isn't too clear, honestly. The cover of Those Who Speak, for those who haven't seen it yet (clicky through for link to actual comic book):

However, it is also Thursday, sooooo
Sparkly Alistair:

Aaaand smoochies, cuz Dailana is still invading my brain:

And to stay on topic, have an Alistair... Do his teeth look odd in this? It seems like they are shifted over to the left side of his mouth (his left).

I just finished getting through the Mage Origin and dealing with Jowan. I had forgotten how much I dislike the choices for that. All I wanted to do was tell him there was no way he'd escape and not help him. Afterall, didn't the templar at the big door to the outside say it took 4 grown men to open the door. I hadn't remembered Irving only wanting me to trap them to get Lily in trouble. That's really messed up. What do you usually choose for that?

Odd as it may sound, the teeth in Dragon Age: Origins almost caused a schism amongst the fans. (Well, not quite that bad) Anyway, the teeth aren't... that great. I tend to just ignore them. There's a mod for whiter teeth (which just makes Fereldans brush their teeth) and another mod called Realistic Teeth, but the Realistic Teeth mod has to basically re-do the entire face to fix the teeth. It looks fantastic BUT you can't use, like, almost any mod that changes the face as a result unless it's compatible.
As for Jowan and the Mage Origin... yeah. I've played all the variations, from 'ambitious mage betraying Jowan to get an 'in' with Irving' to 'hapless mage in love (male or female) with Jown who wants to help them without question and then gets punished as a result'. It *is* true, however, that you don't have to go to Irving at all during the entire pricedure, so it could be that before you never had Irving tell you to trap Lily becuase you simply never talked to him. But yeah, it is messed up. I honestly blame game mechanics, as I don't see how someone as smart as Irving will think tha Greagoir will just roll with it. "Oh? The new one was only helping us? All right then." *shakes head* Yeah...
If you like mages, I'd recommend trying out the Dalish mage mod, too. You play the Dalish origin with a mage, and are treated as a non-Cicle mage the rest of the game. It is rather interesting.
And, because I wuv the picture...

by Aimo, of course!

I love the Dalish mage mod! I use it along with a mod that fixes the background checks in dialogue so that characters don't refer to a Dalish mage as having come from the Circle.
Thanks for sharing that adorable artwork of Alistair! ^__^

Personally however, I largely prefer the realistic teeth mod, since I found the glowing/shiny white teeth very distracting looking when they speak, also they are a tad unrealistic for the world dragon age plays in. What can I say,,,I'm a lore geek, which is why my Wardens will never wear an armor/clothes mod not fitting to the lore there, as well. (except for the lulz)
Maybe the remodeling is why I never found the teeth odd looking (with exception of Ser Gilmore, but he has a weird jaw) Which mod conflicts with the realistic teeth? Just curious. If it the DA2 elf mod I couldn't care less, since I won't touch that with a five feet pole anyway.
What I don't understand is why clothes/armor supposed for an elven female for example doesn't work as they should. Instead of the armor I only get a floating head. Meh. Is here the realistic elf/human mod to blame? Then again, I have a crapload of armor mods installed, maybe it is simply too much? Hmm, dunno.
As for the Dalish mage, this is on my to do list as well. I really want to play a dutiful Dalish for a change, someone who would have become keeper, has no probs with humans etc) Maybe she will be the one who gets a full tragic end then, because she is too trusting/ too goody goody. Oh the possibilities

Do you have a link to the realistic teeth mod? I'm not sure if it is the same one I'm using or not. Let me check the one I picked. Uhhh, the folder is called "neutral_teeth." That is the one in the screenshot I posted before. My Alistair is unmodded. So that means the teeth are supposed to fit?
And I had to leave that picture in! I somehow missed that one. Here I thought I'd seen every Aimo Alistair art there was.
Edit: I'll have to try that Dalish mage mod. I love the Dalish origin. What I think would have been a great Origin to throw in would have been a Apostate mage. But I suppose that would have been too close to Morrigan, but still would have been fun to play a Wilders mage.

neutral_teeth is tmp7704's mod, here, which is just a retexture. (Another retexture is Whiter Teeth, which I think is a little too white.)
And Realistic Teeth is here and here. I've never used it, because, as tklivory mentioned, it isn't compatible with morphs not specifically created to accomodate it.

So then that alignment is just the way the teeth are, not mod related. Thanks for clearing that up.
Edit: I read over the realistic teeth warnings on the nexus page. Does that mean that when I created my Warden's face morph in the toolset, that this mod will affect how she looks? Or is that not related, just to any NPC morph alterations?

Ops, then I have mistaken that mod for another. I have tmp's neutral teeth, which gives the teeth a more natural color than the shiny white. Haven't tried realistic teeth then. Here have an Alistair as apology

Well, the incompatibility with Realistic Teeth can be horrific. In-game, it just makes the mouth look very odd since the whole mouth area was redesigned. But the first time I opened a mrh file in my toolset (my canon warden, one i'd made before installing Realistic Teeth) I got something that looked like this:

After getting back into my chair when I stopped laughing, I uninstalled Realistic Teeth (and *only* that mod) and loaded the toolset again and was greeted with this:

So, although I do love the look of Realistic Teeth, I obviously have too many mods that conflict with it to use. Maybe on my laptop (which doesn't have as many mods), but definitely not my main rig. Though it 'twas entertaining.
