*cracks knuckles*

All right, let's get this cracking. So, here's a link from the lovely Tumblr NolaCousland that takes some information from the upcoming Thedas book o' lore and puts it out there as semi-quasi-definitely-canon lore of Thedas and Dragon Age.

Some interesting Alistair-related info:
Cailin was born in 9:5
Celene was born in 9:6
Alistair was born in 9:10

Now, if this timeline is true, that means that Alistair is, canonically, 20 when the game begins. Anyone have thoughts on that?

(to add fuel to the fire, 9:10 is also the same year of the Calling, when Maric meets a certain Orlesian mage Grey Warden...)

Bwahahaha!

Speaking of Theirins meeting them some sexy elves... and it's Thursday and I miss the good ol' days of smut Thursday...

I'm still trying to find the reference where it states that Cailin was born in 9:05 Dragon When I first started playing the game (not having read any of the books) I took the first to be born in free Ferelden literally and placed his birth in 9:01 Dragon. I assumed he and Anora were the same age. It will be interesting to see where Celene's age comes from as I can't remember any reference to her age.

As to Alistair's age... at first I thought he was 18 just judging by his appearance and I can't say that I really think he's any older than that. But now I am thinking he's maybe 19... I know, I know... it's just a year's difference. I tend to believe that The Calling is a fine piece of fan fiction from David Gaider, but it just discounts too much of what you learn within the game. Having said that, if you truly believe the baby at the end of that book is Alistair, he would still only be 19 at the beginning of the game, perhaps close to being 20, but no older. This, of course, is assuming that pregnancy for elves is 9 months.

And that's my two cents! Posted Image

The dates come from a book that's coming out that is supposedly an official book o' canon lore from Bioware titled Dragon Age: The World of Thedas. I'm assuming some things in it will cause great ripples in the multiverse of fandom headcanon, however, in the 'preview' of the book on Amazon, those little snippets are available. It does contradict some stuff the writers have talked about here on BSN and elsewhere, but then the writers are supposed to be part of the people who were consulted for the book.

'Tis a bit confusing. Still, just wanted to post the tidbits here and see what people thought!

I'm eagerly looking forward to this book, but I'm afraid that it's going to make my head explode! All I'm saying is that if they try to integrate the books into the lore of the game, it's going to create lots of confused furor. A big one is trying to account for Anders being in 2 places at once. I finally decided to just ignore it and enjoy the games.

I always thought him being twenty years old, his demeanor and templar trainee status are fitting for this. Also Fiona. Just saying ;p

After a loooong while I'm stopping by again to say Hi. Great to see the Alistair thread is still alive (somewhat) :D I'm only rarely on BSN anymore, tbh. Tumblr has now my full time attention when it comes to Alistair and the overall DA-fandom. Still, I'm alive, and so is Lenya. I have posted a new chapter a week ago, for those who still follow my story and have missed it. Link is in my signature.

Hey, a bit shameless self-promotion never hurts, right? xD

I just got the Those Who Speak hardcover comic book but then I never get around to reading it. I thought it was about Isabela though. I only read a few pages of the Silent Grove. So what's Those Who Speak about?

It does feature Isabela pretty heavily, but it's still a continuation of The Silent Grove. It's a pretty easy read... I finished it (with numerous interruptions) in about 45 minutes.

I agree, I LOVE the battle scenes in this comic and I can't wait to see Alistair fighting mages.

I have been indulging in color porn, err... editing lately. Since on tumblr, there is only half the life without doing so. Here a few more or less good results of me fiddling around in my pic-prog:

Just a warning, Photobucket will be changing to the new site in two weeks. All of these Alistair screenshots that are link from photobucket and posted on this thread might not be here.

Ive tried the beta and linking photos is still buggy.

Uh oh. There's a lot of pictures in this thread (among others) that use Photobucket. (I use imageshack, myself). Egads!

Like this one (which I squirreled away for myself):

LOL poor hubby.

I think Alistair's gift is the best of the 3, so romantic, both the flower and the thought behind it.

If they have the import feature, Alistair in whatever role I have cast him into by the end of Origins.  2 imports have him as king (with Queen Cousland and Surana mistress), 2 imports have him as a Grey Warden (with a King Cousland and Dalish lover) and one import has him as a wandering drunk, retrieved by Teagan in Kirkwall.

Otherwise, if we are going with a standard background from Bioware I think the default is Human Noble Male Cousland, Alistair as king, and Hawke I think was a Male Mage (in the promos).

Oh, I think I was thinking more of like what sort of storyline Alistair would have. Did you want, Oh hello but I must be going type of cameo like in DA2 or something more. Would we be visiting Ferelden on our journey's as Inquisitors? Does he give us a quest?

I don't know. Cameo/quest giver works for me if he has a reason to (King or Grey Warden).

I'd like to see King Alistair along with Queen Anora (please don't kill me) sheltering Empress Celene and supporting her campaign to take back the throne of Orlais due to her more peaceful political beliefs.
The Orlesian Civil War should be one of the conflicts the Inquisitor must solve in DAI and if s/he sides with Celene over Gaspard, Alistair could give a quest or two.

Nooooo.. not Queen Anora puhleez. It better be my Queen Cousy! I understand that it's virtually impossible to have a cameo of my queenie but I would love it to be acknowleged in the game. I know that she eventually disappears but oh man I hope it's not like DA;A where none even refers you as such aside from Alistair.
