I have so many things I want to do in the current (three) games I'm simultaneously playing. Get my male warden through awakening for the new DLC; take Loghein through Return to Ostagar; let Alistair and my PC get captured by Cauthrian so Sten and Dog can come to the rescue... Work, work, work, I dont' know how I'll get all this done by tomorrow! lol Oh, and I still don't know how my CE's story will end.

Derp day

You've been busy!

There's no way I'm going to finish my HNM by tomorrow.  I ended up going to a party at my brother's place yesterday and then getting caught up in the exciting discussion here, so I got no playing done.  I'm painting today, but maybe I can get a little playing in.  I guess I'll take my Queen Cousland through WH tomorrow.

On the subject of Alistair, I had the craziest dream last night!  This is the first DA dream that I've had.  I was at the camp site, and Alistair was wearing his thong and horned helmet and dancing by the fire like a Chippendale's dancer.

Oh, no!  ToP.

How would Alistair have handled standing shoulder-to-shoulder with blood mages using blood magic.

He was pretty comfortable around my blood mage. =]

He may have hated Morrigan but he seemed perfectly willing to work alongside her after a little nudge so he is willing to work with apostates. I imagine he'd get over his disdain for Blood Magic sooner or later. Although it'd take a lot more than a little nudge. The Chantry's hatred of blood magic runs deep.

He'd do what he had to for duty as long as it didn't cross some lines, but he'd never get over it. It's not just the Chantry, either. Everyone outside the imperium hates and fears blood mages.

Yes, this. The game is rather ... sloppy ... about stuff that is supposed to be a big issue. You're a blood mage? No one bats an eyelash if it's you. And what's up with the armies of apostates that are running wild in Ferelden? Aren't mages supposed to be rare? Why does everyone have a pet mage?

:P

Oh, and tuppence, you did get to see my little take on Ferelden's end if the Grey Wardens were killed, right?

Nooooo!!  I knew you had written it, and I have you in my favorites.  I'm so far behind with my fanfic now ... ever since I made a promise to myself that I would only read it while on the exercise bike!   I'll make sure I read that next.

lol It won't take you long...it's like 500 words?  Really really short.  A true drabble (looks around for Surely).  You don't actually get to see the look on Loghain's face...but I like to think it adds to what you see in your imagination!

I read it last night, and I did enjoy it.  I liked reading it from Anora's PoV.  :D

But the whole abomination thing is way outside of what anyone would have seen coming.  No one's being petty when you arrive at Redcliffe, their just trying to survive against monsters not all unlike the darkspawn. They want and would join you if they could. They're hands are just tied at the moment.

I'm not talking about Redcliffe people per se, but the events that started that chain.

As far as the Mage Tower goes, that's a different story. Other than support for Uldred so he could have more firepower at his disposal, Loghain had nothing to do with that, and the crisis really was the result of fade spirits.

But the Ferelden civil war, the throne crisis, Loghain's whole epic fail in dealing with the country after Cailan's death, anti-Orlesian paranoia, ect...all that is incredibly petty in the face of the Blight.

And furthermore, the Chantry gets a heavy dose of blame. Their attitude towards the importance of stopping the blight as opposed to upholding all their dogmatic nonsense....more pettieness. Too bad there is no way to make them suffer.

This is a very interesting convo, but isn't there one factor missing? Cailan. Cailan's dead and Alistair might perceive that he is the heir to the Fereldan throne. On the one hand I can see Duncan using this to persuade him to leave... We have to go, you're an important figure now, you shouldn't be throwing your life away willy-nilly, let's go to Orlais, regroup and return and liberate Ferelden. Of course, politically Alistair could then be used to broker the agreement with Orlais that Cailan was seeking to make, with less baggage because he is single...

Well, we also know that Duncan feels that Wardens have no business being King and Kings have no business being Wardens so I honestly think he would be against Alistiar the King, especially since Anora is available.

I'm not expecting anything from the DLC but a little bit of an idea of what Morrigan is up to, and a lead-in to her role in future DA titles. Morrigan is an interesting character, and it would be impossible for it to be worse and less germaine than the last few DLC, so I'm looking forward to it.

I think you make a good point, but what was Duncan's motivation in deciding to make Alistair a GW in the first place? Protect him somehow? Curry more favour with Cailan? Get him out of the Chantry's clutches? Please Alistair's mum? Any combination of the former? Or was it simply because he needed GWs?  Somehow I'm a little resistent to the simplest explanation...

I agree with this completely but I am expecting to feel a little hollow/disappointed, even if it is a great dlc in and of itself, since the announcement that in essence this is the last of DA:O. Posted Image

I hope we aren't left feeling frustrated by the WH's ending? "Fingers crossed" 1 more day untill we all find out...  I'll wait for the reviews before getting the new DLC.

Derp day!  Of course, Labor Day here in the US and I'm off work, so not nearly as derpy as usual.

Also this is not so much a derp as an epic facepalm.  This was on the way up to fight Archie, my rough-tough HNM and Alistair each enjoying the affections of their own cuddly ogre.  Good thing Aedan's girlfriend was there to do at least some damage.  Oy.

Well, I think you might, in that we know that Morrigan's story continues, which means that she will have to go on her way to do whatever it is that she does next. I expect that for whatever answers we get, new questions will be raised, but to do otherwise would be to end her story. I doubt there will be any happy ending for her and the warden, I'm afraid, but there will probably be some poignant moments, and perhaps more closure. Morrigan isn't the type for a hppy ending, though. Can anyone really see her settling into a comfortable relationship with the warden?
One thing that will be interesting is how they deal with the god-baby if the warden isn't the father. Will Alistair's part in the DR be mentioned?

I know happy endings were never really an option for Morrigan. I just want closure to the Morrigan romance and the DR. I would hate for her just to disappear again with no mention of the Godbaby, leaving us all confused because of half cryptic answers, and with no fond farewells for her LI/friend. I'm being pessimistic, i want to be pleasantly surprised tomorrow.

Well, at least you have the pleasure of knowing that she will continue to be a presence in the franchise, and that if you don't get all the answers now, there will be more later.
