I have a rather odd situation I came across just now after speaking with Riordan. I left the room, and both Alistair and Morrigan were in my party (I'm assuming this has something to do with me having the Dark Ritual mod installed). Unfortunately the cutscene from that mod didn't play. And when I got to Denerim, Alistair and Morrigan were again in my party when its supposed to be just the Warden for that first battle. Has anyone come across this?

Also, I didn't really notice any changes in Morrigan's dialogue at all even though I have MRP pack installed. Will a +100 friendly not notice that (do you need to be in a romantic relationship to see the changes from those mods?)

It was really nice to finally hear the correct dialogue with Eamon though. :D

If it's the Dark Ritual mod that "restores" a context cutscene, then no, Morrigan and Alistair shouldn't be in the Warden's party either at Redcliffe Castle or during the beginning of the battle in Denerim. (I've been using that mod for at least a half dozen PT's and have never experienced anything like that, and the cutscene has always correctly triggered when the Warden leaves Riordan's room.) IIRC, the scene will only play if the Warden is romantically involved with Alistair - else it really wouldn't make sense.

Yep, that's the one. It just adds that one cutscene. I tried taking the mod out and everything worked as usual... very strange.

Another odd bug I came across was when I go to fight in the Elven Alienage, my "army control" circle disappears... I don't usually fight with them anyway but...

^^^ Oh pretty girl with Alistair.

So I came to ask an important question. Would Alistair be any good at arm wrestling? :)

Just found this thread after playing through DA: Origins on Xbox then finding it on PC on sale, modding it to hell and playing again. My husband has had the game since release but I've only just gotten around to playing it (been too busy with study and work last couple of years to do much gaming).

On PC I truly "got" the game, I think - I like to RP quite intensely and the wonderful mods provided just fleshed out (no pun intended) the experience and seriously gripped me like no other game has.

I kinda fell for Alistair a bit, too, which is a bit embarrassing to admit as he is pixels but such well written pixels! I think I just have a softness for a man who is a bit dorky and awkward (don't tell my husband I said that, but yeah, he is too!)

I was even prompted to make a Youtube tribute video to my Warden and her Alistair romance. It did not have a happy ending for them. Never felt the need to do such a thing before, but as I say - no game, story or characters, has ever "got" to me like this one.

Kudos to Bioware.

I feel ya! When I played DA2, I missed my dao companions terribly specially Alistair. There's nothing quite like them.

Playing my elven mage Inera and going for the mistress ending. I don't know...for me it was as happy as an ending she could expect (from her POV I mean). She married him to Anora and had her boon be lands and a title hoping she could prove that mages in a position of power were not to automatically be feared.

That and she felt Anora and Alistair could cover for each others weaknesses in ruling. She rather be distant from the wardens though. She was pretty disillusioned with them from the beginning and I could see her prodding Avernus for tips on how to lessen the effects of the taint.

I tried the mistress ending once, hated it. (Though the conversation at the beginning of awakenings was kind of sweet) but still, to have Alistair all to herself for a year or more, then suddenly having to move aside for someone else. My warden was not pleased. She's the only woman Alistair needs  I have the anyone can marry Alistair mod but throw in a warden ending for them both every now and then.

I could never ever use the marry everyone mod. Just a bit off lore for me. So I have 2 hnf queens, 2 elf and mage gw ending with Alistair. Aaaaand an elven mage who is probably going to her calling alone and broken hearted as she did not let herself be a mistress.

Well, I play it as that when the time comes to come to the deep roads, Alistair would be there too with or without his calling and we will endulge in many many pre- requem sex in between waves of darkspawn. Very strange role play but there it is!

And oh another broken hearted hnf who left for kirkwall and met Sebastian and took Starkhaven back with her and made her queen. Then return to Ferelden heavy with child to attend Fergus' wedding and Alistair also happened to be there. He will be filled with regret as he still did not manage to hit any eggs with his chosen queen.

Could someone please write on this scenario for me please? If anyone is brave enough could u send me a pm. Or if anyone has read this kind of fic somewhere please tell me where I can read them.
Thank you!

I use it solely because I find it ironic that not only does an elf or mage despite being suppressed and oppressed save Fereldan from the blight but also becomes queen. A kind of kick in the teeth for the 'normal' folk and a kind of redemption and acceptance from them.

Ah my mage figures it's better for all involved and yeah love the awakening convo.

Besides she and Anora have an understanding not to step on each other's toes.

That said I wouldn't use the anyone can marry him mod. If my warden wants him all to herself they stay wardens together and kick darkspawn ass. :P

Actually, there was one play through, I can't remember if it was the one where my warden chose to go back to her clan and Alistair went with her, that in the end slide to awakening, when the warden mysteriously disappeared, it said that Alistair disappeared with her. I was so happy that where ever they ended up they ended up together.

Yeah got the same ending for my mistress. Didn't feel as bad either when he's solo king doing that. Anora's used to ruling on her own :P

On Mistress vs Wife, I enjoy both endings. These things among royalty 1000 years ago in our own world(who marry for alliance NOT love) weren't that uncommon. I have to say though I like both, I actually prefer the mistress ending.

Alistair is quite open with his affection in Awakenings when he comes to Vigil's even if it's supposed to be discreet. He also has a really sweet line in DA2 during the conversation with Hawke for the mistress. And the queen disappears alone at the end of Awakenings. Alistair leaves with a mistress together. Of course a lot of ending slides got all fubared so no telling if Bioware did this on purpose or it was an oversight.

And I know Bioware has said "No heir for the throne. Period." so any queen he has won't be having any children. Either Alistair just can't overcome the warden infertility or the queen is queen in title only. But there is always that hope that he will have children, and get the family he wants.

Regardless, he lets the warden know his heart belongs to her, not this other woman, and still demonstrates this at least 7 years later.

While the queen ending is more fairy-tale, the mistress ending seems more filled with hope, because of the potential.

Any mods that let you marry him without being a human noble to me just detract from the story, break lore, and blow my immersion.  If you enjoy that sort of thing, enjoy, play, it's your game and you are entitled to play it however you wish.  Just saying, it's not my cup of tea.

If you don't want to share Alistair, just put Anora on the throne.  She's the one who truly wants it, and she does a creditable job running the country after the Blight.  Plus, Alistair seems happier in his GW cameo in DA2, and has a sweet line for his lady in that one as well.

Ok I am biting the bullet and putting Alistair on the throne with Anora with the warden as mistress (elf mage) please do not tell me he cant have a mage as a mistress :(. never played this way before, had a mistress with solo king though.

I have a question or two.....do I have to execute Loghain myself or can Alistair still do it and still marry Anora? Alistair is hardened so will I still make the decision or is it done for me?

ahhh ok, so if that's done, then it doesn't really matter how I play out the landsmeet, other than Loghain dying? Thanks

Broker the marriage in advance, and bear in mind Anora won't marry Alistair if he kills her father. My experience is that Alistair will automatically execute Loghain after the duel, so if you want the arranged marriage to happen, he shouldn't be chosen for the duel. (And then the Warden needs to be the one to execute Loghain.)

Alistair will marry Anora if you recruit Loghain, but he'll also leave the party and break up with the Warden, irrevocably.

I am going to remake this when I've played through again on my desktop PC which can run on very high settings, and I'm going to start recording from the start instead of half way through... And will include less bonking... But thoughts on my first effort still welcomed (note, NSFW, mods used):

did you finish your game?
My elven mage became remained with a solo king Alistair,  and my dalish elf stayed with <3 Alisair who rules jointly with Anora.
with the right words a hardened Alistair will stay in a relationship <3 with his warden

I did, I don't think I'll do that again lol. Poor Alistair couldn't string two words together when I announced their arrangement, I felt soooo guilty :( But I do love the convo in awakening better as the mistress than as his Queen. He seems a bit more caring with it.
My favourtie though definitely has to be my dalish elf, who went back to her clan with Alistair. I like to think they will finally have their home, without having to worry about the wardens or the throne and have a somewhat normal life and while my warden is off doing her thing in Awakening, Alistair is building them a home<3.

Although I did a pt with Alistair ruling alone and staying with my warden I never completed DA2 with it.  Does Alistair's dialogue change when he speaks of her to Hawke, or is it the same one he gives as when he is married to Anora?
